Question on Haakona Advanced Warbird?

So I have been thinking this for a while. If the Haakona splits info both a Ha'nom and a Ha'feh is there a reason the Ha'nom does not get any if not all of the science abilities it witless normally have since the advanced escort science focused portion does hey at least some science ship abilities?

Because it wasn't coded that way. :(

The Haakona was going to be a 3 pack and was supposed to be the Romulan Republic flagship but it was cut for whatever reasons. Then when the Scimitar was released, Geko officially said the Scimitar was the RR flagship. I think because of this, there wasn't much fully fleshed out thought into the ship.

But hey, the guardian section spams Attack Pattern Beta and heals with Extend Shields. It's AI is kind of nice too on any map other than Khitomer Space where for some reason it will fly off and do little.

Because that is not the purpose of the separated ships. The purpose of piloting each part is to change hull points / turn rate / crew ammounts to the part you are piloting, but nothing else. This way, if you need a faster and maneouverable version of the ship you use the assault part. If you want a slower one but with more tanking capabilities, you use the guardian part. But thats all. You are not getting 3 ships for the price of one... lol. That is not it.

As a fleet haakona owner, i love that ship. Because i make use of both pets all the time, in different situations. Thats the reason i like this split ability.

Of all my purchases in STO, the Haakona is the one I absolutely and totally regret.

The ship AI is so unreal bad that they honestly should pull this ship and issue refunds for anyone that purchased it. All the separation console does give you the ability to take control of either half of the ship, while you watch the other half explode. Whatever half you don't pilot either just flies off into no where, or gets blown up in 2 seconds.

The Fleet Ha'apax is a nice ship, especially at T5U, but the separation console is an absolute joke. The AI is beyond horrible and I still kick myself for buying it.

The problem stems from the very same issue:

NPC AI in STO sucks big hairy sasquatch balls.

Not just separation units from the Odyssey, Bortasqu', Prometheus, Haakona, etc. But it includes hangar units (do you love it when your hangar units fly off to the other side of the map and not engage?), friendly and enemy NPCs. And not only that, the NPCs barely do anything.

The Hangar Units are special favorite of mine, especially as a longtime carrier user. Nothing like your valuable hangar units that have all these powerful TAC abilities, weapons, but they refuse to present them to the enemy and USE them. They prefer to take overly long, leisurely, excessively wide turns. Frigates are the worst. The KDF Elite BOPs statistically is among the most powerful in the game for hangar units. But most of that firepower is useless because those DHCs and Quantum Torps, all that built in CRF3 and HYT3 with them, are never pointed in the right direction.

The AI in this game just S-T-I-N-K-S.

Well said, I have all the same problems and opinions. The AI is just absolutely terrible.
