dps channel runs are boring<<you will with good team allways,o.k 95.7% time you will win,so i run pug.
Only challenge in this game are pug runs.and i really love to do pug runs.
it seems all this promotion about dps is thing for kids, when i was 20-25 i chased girls not dps,so guys think about this>><<:D
game is stuck,we got last month one story mission, more dps oriented game less content.
On the side bugs ,lag etc,if you run 5 or 6 Qs just to see how high is your dps..is this new way of having fun,run same s. over and over, are you not bored..???
Cryptic please remove sci embassy consoles, plasma dop. was nothing compared to plasma explosion.this type of damage is doing more damage then beams.we have tested, and this is pure case of exploit one broken mechanic.ad some proc idk 5 %,and thats it,no more videos how good some guys are.they are just exploiting bad game mechanics with goal to ad more people in dps channels.
Cryptic like this guys they can do less ,what means less content for me and you.
I dont know what armada brings but game need some new direction..
Star trek is not about damage, yeah we all love good fight, but create some corner in space for pvp players, create some planets for explorers..you have new space,it cant be all about numbers, how much dps can you do,and what then?you will recive golden ananas??stupid..
these kids dont compete in real world i do,i want to have fun,not another job..when i come home, and im not alone.
3 years ago, game was full with players, geting in big dig,or breaking the planet was a joke, now,no comment...even in dps channel you need to wait 30 min for 15 people to start, big dig..people will pay if they are having fun.this is no fun.
Nobody likes to grind anymore or chase some idiotic numbers its just a game,so please cryptic more story, less power creep.
cheers.

But other than that, if "dps online" bores you don't try to play that. Play your characters after a theme, model your ships after something you make work in your own characterization and do it for fun (for instance I decided to equip my Sci only with non-lethal weapons (stun weapons, anesthezine, nothing that outright "kills" the enemy and I try to optimize those themes). And if there is nothing left for you to enjoy just stop playing and come back at a later time.

To say the game is stuck or unbalanced is correct to a degree, but it does not apply to all the content you can do.
And as angrytarg suggested, take a break, in 6 month you have a few new story missions to play...no need to play them the day they are released.
2.Experiment with other forms of firepower - all torps, all cannon, hybrid builds, dbb barrage
3. Experiment with builds - No just for optimum damage but things like pure cc, drain, crit related weapons (like the dyson polarons with their 'crit does 'x' damage power), mega hull/shield tankers, hyper speed builds or mega turn setups (which can be fun in itself, turning a clunker like a vo'quv into a sci-vessel turnrate ship)
4. Play Ground - start building custom kits for specific events/mobs/certain themes, set up boffs to tackle stos ground missions without you firing a shot
5. Hit patrols, missions, ect and so on you never did and/or deep space encounters
6. Do foundry missions - now you can go to a system and see a selection, you can always find something new to try
7. Have fun doing insane things, such as building a ship with 2000%+ threat and do cca with it - your mission being to survive everything thats thrown at you (bonus mode - you can only fire to attract the opponents
8. make a cloaking, no weapons, all heals healer and annoy everyone in kerrat by rapid-healing their targets to 100% (now that is great fun if you have a thick skin to tank the abuse on chat)
There is eight possibilities to improve your sto experience, try one or two of them and sto becomes a lot more enjoyable - especially if you follow the first
I'm an Arc user? Yeah, right..I'd rather eat a chainsaw, blade first
And no, the game doesn't offer anything that's not DPS related.
Foundry right now is a bad editor: environments are poor, and usually the stories are not even worth playing.
PvP... lol let's just say there isn't PvP content at all.
PvE is repetitive and the only requirement is dealing average damage. Run there, kill something, run there, close a portal, run there and mass murder everything that moves.
The story was cool until Starfleet decided to alter the timeline with the Iconians.
Grind's endless. You must repeat the same old content you've grown to hate to advance.
Unless you have a very large friend list and many people to hang out with, that's how it ends.
And playing about with builds for PvP is far more interesting than PVE builds.
LOL... you must be new xD.
I'd say that was 'furry' obvious
...I'll get my coat

PVP is dead since ages ago. If you want pvp go to a private instance with your friends and thats it. Thats the only way players do pvp. It doesnt matter what build you use for pvp lol. Thats the problem. I jus cant believe there are out there people that still name pvp as part of this game lol, seriously, as soon as you forget that pvp exists in this game, the better. Because NOTHING can be done for pvp and nothing can be done to fix it.
Power creep is a problem, but thats the way this game is designed. And the way to drain the players pockets. Dont want power creep? stop buying lfts, stop buying subs, stop buying stuff. Hard to do it, eh??
I used to chase the red dragon but I hit 16k DPS and realised that no matter how high I got my DPS I wouldn't be happy with it. It's a never ending chase. (Well unless you exploit)
Shortly after I went back to experimenting with builds. I used abilities people rarely use, ships I rarely see, weapons that aren't common. I loved it. I am a ship builder at heart.
The only downsides are you get shouted at a lot about DPS mostly by people who have less than 5k DPS ironically. And it can be disheartening when a certain build simply cannot be made to work.
Tl:Dr - play the game the way you want, ignore the haters and have fun!
100% this. Just slap the ignore bat on any moron stupid enough to decide it's worth picking on the one player in the team who did less than 10k dps after a 1 minute Elite STF run.
If someone is THAT much of an ingrate jerk, they've earned it
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
But very few people would do that, so stop assuming that everyone who cares about improving their build performance is some evil troll out to ruin your fun.
Someone has a guilty conscience. show me where I said in my post that applies to everyone or even many people.
PvP is about generating Epeen.

And this is why I have a higher regard for a stone wall than those like you.
The PvE content is highly repetitive and boring - even when they introduce new content, it's some variation of "Kill this spawn, press F to interact, kill moar." There's no variation or new mechanics. No differing playstyles. They've systematically, knowingly and willingly, destroyed the only form of interesting or varied content in the game (PvP).
Once you've already done everything there is to do (and likely until you want to smash your keyboard, thanks to being forced to grind it), what else can you do?
Sit there and tweak your build - hence the DPS race.
Them Stone Walls are OP. they win every argument. I'd respect them too!

Yes, I want my ship to do damage, but I do not partake in the DPS race. I am fine with around 6k - 9k DPS with slow power creep as I slowly improve my gear. I keep things kinda interesting by not even bothering to install any Reputation gear for any of my captains other than the Dyson gravimetric photon torpedo on one of my captains just to observe the effects.
I pug a lot. I do not bother with actually teaming up with other players because I play STFs on a whim and I rotate the captains I play pretty often. Hell, I rotate captains just to play the same STFs repeatedly so that I can simply earn marks (all my captains have less than 700 Iconian marks) or to get very rare R&D materials and I do not have to wait for the cool down.
The best thing to do when you get bored of the game is to just walk away from it and do something else. I took a 6 week break from STO while I was in the middle of leveling up my Delta Recruit. I came back to STO at the start of the Risan Summer Event. I will eventually get back to doing the main story missions for my Recruit when the event ends. Right now I am simply farming Lohlunat favors and selling them and also playing with some ship builds (no rep gear).
When Fallout 4 comes out... well I will participate in the 2015 Winter Event and 2016 Anniversary Event for the ships, but I will not be devoting much time to STO for a while.
