Joint Faction Armadas: Embassies

latest?cb=20120329235955&path-prefix=en

There has been some talk about whether or not Starfleet and Klingon Fleets would be able to form a single Armada together. In another thread about the upcoming Armada system borticuscryptic mentioned,

"We plan to spend some time later on exploring whether or not doing so would be technically feasible, and what repercussions it might entail.

For example, I know off-the-cuff that a FED player can't be invited to a KDF Starbase. So if we somehow overcame the technical hurdles that would allow these two Fleets to belong to the same Armada together, would it be fair to ask the FED Fleet to help donate to the KDF projects, if they can't reap some of the benefits?
"

I think an interesting way for this to work would be to create Fleet Embassies unlocked through joint fleet Armadas. Once any technical hurdles are cleared, Federation players would then be able to fly to Qo'noS and beam down to the Federation Embassy and Klingon Players could go to Earth and beam down to the Klingon Embassy. This could be unique to the Armada system, so that faction Starbases can continue to be faction restricted but the ability to get unique Fleet Gear or maybe "Armada Gear" from the Embassy would promote cross-faction cooperation.

They can convince people to donate resources to the other faction's projects by having a bonus pool of points which can help upgrade the Embassies faster so that you can get to the new gear stored inside.

Why not just open up the Captain's Table and make it the joint Embassy? Both Fed and KDF can go there via the nebula.

I don't think that would be a suitable location. The Captain's Table is a social nightclub where characters go to relax. It's not exactly a place for business or politics and it's certainly no place for an Ambassador to live.

Let's not forget that the Captain's table is a subscriber only area. That would mean that they would have to take away that area from the subscribers so everyone could have access to it.

Unification of the "factions" is the only worthwhile step at this point. We will never get faction exclusive content again (Geko said so), so keeping the infamous "18%" of the players separate like that forever doesn't lead anywhere. Yes, if you choose so all fleet assets should be shared, maybe and probably short of sharing fleet ships and uniforms cross-faction - but elite weapons (which is the only exclusive thing I think) why not? Yes, full access to fleets and stores. You can choose to not join an "armada" with another faction and keep it separate, after all - but there is literally nothing in the game left warranting two separate factions.

i think its no mystery where i stand on this.
nobody should ever be able to donate to anything factional if they arent donating from said faction.

enough is enough. this far and no farther.

It would make sense giving the Iconian War AND the supposed "Delta Alliance". We're in this together. And as stated in a previous post... After the Klingon story arc almost all the arcs is done by all factions and together. So this supposed divide and the uniqueness that comes from it is posturing for appearance sake. Stop the posturing and unite already. Its will be hard to implement but it is your fault for taking the easy route in the first place by making the majority of story arcs copy/paste missions that can be done by both factions rather than unique arcs tailored to each faction.

The first Belfast was commanded by Captain Ve'Kal Shon until its destruction in 2409. A new ship was commissioned bearing the same name and registry as special dispensation to then newly promoted Captain Edward XIII for his pivotal role during the renewed Dominion War.

but I do know for a fact that Geko want's to update the Cpts Table... and yes the current cpts table can be improved to allow the cross-faction armada. While they can release the new one at a later date. So as far as I see it, Cpts Table is a good example of how a Joint-Armada Location could work....
