X Reflection?!

When in combat against Voth, in the Battlezone and such, I am often hit with things like "Anti-Proton Reflection", or "Disruptor Reflection", aka, the wep type I'm using myself. Looks like some sort of a Feedback Pulse (very dangerous too). Is this a new thing?!

Thanks.

No, it's never been a new thing. The Voth have always had these reflective powers.
Specifically, anything bigger than a Palisade frigate has a reflector shield. The bigger the ship, the more of the ship gets covered; Citadels have a full-coverage type shield.
Shooting at the shield deals no damage to the ship whatsoever on that side.
Let me repeat that: Shooting the reflector shield while it is up, deals no damage to the ship whatsoever.
On anything smaller than a Citadel ship, this can be worked around by using AOE attacks while moving around the ship to hit a different facing.
However, while a Citadel ship's reflector is up, it is essentially immune to damage for a short amount of time, and you are only hurting yourself while you shoot at it.
I've literally seen smaller escorts essentially vaporize themselves while attacking a Citadel ship while its reflector is up, because no one seems to notice the "Immune!" message that pops up instead of a damage dealt number when that golden shield is active.
Players seem to assume it's like a Feedback Pulse, in that you can still deal damage to the Voth ship in question, you'll just be minorly damaged in return.
It is not. You will deal no damage to the Voth ship while the shield is up, at all. If it's smaller than a Citadel, just AoE the ship and move to shoot at a facing that isn't protected by the reflector matrix. If it IS a Citadel ship, just don't shoot at it for a few seconds.

Wow, that was a very extensive, clear answer. :) Thanks!

And yeah, never noticed any 'Immune' message, but the 'golden shield' is easily recognizable. Actually, I always thought the latter was indicative of some sort of drain mode (and to stay at least 7km away from it). Guess I got ot figured wrong entirely, LOL. Thanks again.

Huh, I knew that it made them perfectly immune on the side that the thing was up, but I had no idea that it reflected damage. Then again, I almost never bother with Voth stuff.

No prob, and actually, Bulwark classes DO have an Aceton Drain Mode. They don't light up like they do when their reflector matrix is active, though, but you'll notice your energy levels falling fast when it's active. You need to stay a good distance from them, too, because at the end of their drain mode, they unleash a significantly powerful AoE pulse attack.
Bastion's and Citadel's tend to just release Aceton Assimilators.

Actually, let me correct that. Bulwarks and Citadels will actively reflect damage dealt, Bastions won't (though they're still indestructible when the shield's up). And the shield only covers one side of the ship (usually the side people are attacking), so you can overcome it by moving around back.

Otherwise correct, and I've seen self-vaporizations by tactards myself. It'd be funny if it didn't mean you were suddenly fighting the whole frakking Citadel by yourself...

The Citidal actually does NOT have full coverage. It only looks like it because its so big, but its actually a 180 degree arc, meaning only half the ship is protected. So if the shield goes up, pop over to the opposite side.

I think the only thing that can get full protection is a player Voth ship with that ability. Don't know if it was a console off one of the the Palasade, Bastion, or Bulwark or a set bonus.

A couple of the Voth mechs also have the invincishield as well, but just like the ships, its not full coverage. They don't protect their backsides when they hunker down activate the shield.

I just thought the op was talking about ground, cuz it seems that he/she s been playing for a while now, and the effects described have been there since the Voth space battlezone was released. Just weird, thats all.

Although because of the shield's coverage area compared to the usual size of the battlefield, it doesn't typically matter with mechs...

It's been a while since I've played against the Voth, but Subnucleonic Beam seems to take out that shield (or at least I try to with it).
