Fleet T6 ships lose tier 5 ship master?

indysharkindyshark Member Posts: 1,557 Arc User
I was on line last night with my new fleet T6 destroyers and noticed you can't get to tier 5 in ship mastery. Is that a nerf or an error in the latest patch?mi know you could do that before the patch.

I am sure they had that when I bought them. I recently upgraded to fleet versions, but I am pretty sure the patch changed them, not the upgrade

It's intentional. You have to buy the c-store ship for the trait (that's how they sell T6 ships. Formerly it was consoles that drove ship sales but we have so many consoles already it's now ship traits).

The tier 6 destroyers are rewards for lifetime subscribers. How do you buy a ship to get the mastery?

Not a 1000 day veteran myself, but you should be able to get the non fleet T6 version at the ship vendor, if it exists. While typing this, though, I'm not sure there is a non-fleet T6 version in the first place.

    EDIT: Here it is http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/9359773-star-trek-online:-new-t6-veteran-destroyers

You should be able to claim them at the starship and shuttle requisition guys

You either need claim it from the C-store or, from a shipyard vendor!

This would be the only 2 ways I could think of, when it comes to obtaining regular non-fleet vessels.

I have both the T6 and T6 fleet destroyers. I believe the tier 5 mastery was removed in this weeks patch

Most of the write ups I've seen for fleet ships have either not mentioned a T5 trait, or that they don't have one. That's been the plan since they were introduced.

The Fleet T6 destroyer ships are misleading as they say you get a trait when you buy them. But you get no such trait.

For the Veteran ships specifically - you don't claim the non-Fleet version from the C-Store, but at the Ship Requisition Vendor. I believe it's generally the last in the list of Tier 6 ships.

So, if you want the trait, you acuire the non-fleet version, bring it to Tier 5, and then switch to the Fleet variant. That you can then bring to Tier 4.

I got the trait when I got the tier 6 destroyer leveled up. You have to use it to get the trait, same as the summer gift ship.

Fleet ships do not have the 5th mastery (the ship trait unlock). You have to level up the non-fleet T6 ship to get the final mastery (which you keep, even if you discard the ship and can use regardless of the ship you're currently using). When you change to the fleet version of the same ship you have to re-level the 1-4 masteries that come with the ship, you do not get a 5th mastery on the fleet ship as you should still have it from the non-fleet ship.

The reason for this is they want to you to get the c-store (non-fleet) version for the console and trait, and not just use EC to buy 5 Fleet modules off the exchange and just get the fleet version. This is strange where the vet ships are concerned, but it works the same way for consistency.

Hope that clears it up for you.

    TL:DR
If you fully leveled up the non-fleet T6 Veteran ship and got the 5th mastery (Starship Trait) you still have it, you may need to slot it, but you still have it.

You first must unlock that T5 mastery, and then upgrade to fleet... If you upgrade befour you unlock T5 mastery, then T5 mastery is no more

T6 Fleet Ships NEVER had/came with a Mastery. You need the C-Store version for that. But as you know once earned on the C-Store T6 it is available to use on the Fleet Version (or any other appropriate ship for that matter).

Actually, the Tier 6 Vet ships are rewards for both LTS and 1000-day Veterans.

Since we're discussing Ship Traits, if you gain the trait from a specialization, but you switch to a different specialization, can you continue to use that Ship Trait?

As a lifetime subscriber I'll tell you how it works: there is no veteran ship in the c-store. You have to go to a ship requisitions NPC and claim the ship there. The non-fleet T6 veteran ship can be claimed completely free as long as you've earned it by being subscribed for a total of 1,000 days or have a lifetime sub (lifetime members get access to all veteran rewards right away).

Fleet vet ships require a tier 2 fleet spire and cost 1 fleet ship module along with fleet credits. Even fleet veteran ships don't come with a starship trait.

I can't remember where but it was around the time the very first T6 fleet ships came out. Cryptic said that fleet ships won't come with starship traits and you'd need to get it from the non-fleet version.

Think of it like this: some players don't want the special console that comes with a c-store ship. Needing the c-store version of the ship to get the starship trait is an incentive to get people to actually buy the c-store versions.

But on the plus side, c-store ships give you an account-wide discount. The fleet version of that ship will cost 1 fleet ship module (usually) for all current and future characters on your account after you buy the c-store version. So for your first character you pay a hefty price of 3,500 zen to get the c-store ship and 1 module but all other toons only need to spend 500 zen for a module. Otherwise without the c-store version you'd be paying around 2,000-2,500 per toon just for the fleet version.

You have to remember, the Tier 5 trait or the 'Starship Trait' is slotted under your captain abilities. It doesn't require you to be in the ship to use it, it applies to whatever ship you fly.

Therefore, with Fleet ships, you unlock the trait on the C-Store version (or in your case the T6 Lifetime ship you claimed from the Ship Vendor.) You then slot the trait under your captain abilities and then level up the Tier 6 Fleet ship.

The Level 5 Mastery has always been missing from Fleet T6 ships, it's been that way on every Fleet T6 from day 1. It wasn't a change in the patch.

Also, starship traits are unlocked permanently for the character you unlocked them with. This means that even if you discharge a ship you no longer want you keep the trait and can keep using it.

You would not be sure, because no fleet ships have had Tier 5 mastery. None, nadda, zilch.

You have always had to have the C-store version to get the mastery.

When you buy some fleet ships they do list a new Tier 5 mastery. So I can see how he is sure he had one when he bought the item. Its only after buying the item the mastery isn't there.

Thank you for your help. I leveled up my T6, slotted the ship mastery and now I have it on my fleet T6.
