is Polaron the best energy weapon?

when discussing bonuses, is polaron the best?
AP- the obilisk core and omni beam gives 10%
Elachi set gives disruptor 7.6%
Romulan set 7.6%
Nukara set 7.6% for tetryon
Jem Hadar 2 pc gives either 8.1% or 13.1% depending on what source is referenced.
since the CC ordinance set doesn't work, phaser gets no love and Disruptor doesn't get the extra 7.5% that would make it the best. am i missing something?

No. There is no such a thing as the "best" energy weapon.

I used to run Polaron for a VERY long time. It's a great defensive weapon when the proc hits cause it lowers the enemies powers. Also great offensive cause a lot of ships will go to 0 engine power if you're speced if Flow Cap. You can take advantage of their lower defense value.

However, these days I'm running epic antiproton crtDx2 with Pen and Acc. The crit hits are too great to ignore.

Yes, you are missing something. I'm not too sure about the Elachi set bonus but the Rom, JH, and Nukara sets are strength (cat1) increases, so they're of lower magnitude than the Obelisk and CC sets, which are bonus (cat2) increases.

Also, the best energy type for you is the one you like.

Can we get some more (canon) KDF outfits, an assortment of respectable skirts/dresses, a long jacket (and more clothes in general) that does plain white well, melee weapon and Mk 15 drops, a T6 Nova, and account-wide lockbox/lobi/promo ships & consoles? Oh, and...

considering the CC bonus doesn't work, I guess the others are better  nice to know about the categories. I guess it will be AP, even though they did not seem all that effective

One proof is, disruptor even if it has no a proper energy boost set, is still one of the most used energy types, because its amazingly effective. So, sets are sometimes just, not necessary. As the other guy said, just use what you like. In my case i always go for canon, phasers for the fed, disrupti for the klingons and plasma for the rommies. I have other exceptions, like cross faction ships (antiproton for example) and other cases, for example my haakona with a polaron build (just because it looks awesome :p )

P Remember the jem hadar set gives you 14% boost at mk XII as far as i remember (i dunno what percentaje in upper levels i still didnt upgrade it).

The CC 2pc does work, at least for me. If you're trying to use it with just the 2 turrets, then that won't work and if you're just using both consoles, then you won't see as big of a boost over using a normal Tac console and two other pieces (if they fit your build) instead.

I personally enjoy the Dominion Polaron Beam Array from "Boldly They Rode", especially coupled with the Jem'Hadar Space Set and a lot of Flow Capacitor.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Prior to the release of Delta Rising and before I purchased the Delta OPs Pack back around Dec 2014 my Fed Engineer was flying a Mirror Universe Heavy Cruiser Retrofit with standard Polaron Beam Arrays purchased from the Exchange. The Dominion Polaron weapons didn't appeal to me for whatever reason.

I switched to Polaron basically for the visual effects. Yeah... a shallow reason... It was fun. I am considering Polaron weapons for my KDF science captain flying the 2014 Anniversary Dyson Science Destroyer. I am taking a break from using the B'rel BoP Retrofit which is also being flown by a KDF Tactical. After the Summer Event is over I'll buy some cheap polaron weapons from the Exchange just to see how it looks with the DSD.

AP weps get 1x extra, innate [CrtD]. That makes 'em superior for almost every situation (not always, mind you, but often).

Obelisk Core + Ancient AP wep are actually not all that good, btw.

And CC ordnance set bonuses work just fine.
