Fed Orions

gradiigradii Member Posts: 2,824 Arc User
Seriously. Why do we have a Zen store option for Fed Klingons without having Fed Orions there too?

I'd definitely pay to be able to create fed Orions.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

I wouldn't want any more cross-over races than we already have (joined Trill, Talaxian, Lib Borg...). Having playable races specific to different factions keeps those factions unique from each other.

Only if the Federation Orions can't run arround in less fabric that it takes to construct an eye-patch.

Well you "could" create an alien and simply make his/her skin color green. Just saying.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

    you already got klingons fed-side.
of course enough is never enough for feddies.

In terms of in-universe logic, Orions should totally be able to join Starfleet and I would wholeheartedly support this. In terms of STOs integrity, however, mushing the factions together more and taking even more unique traits from one side and make it available to the other is not a good thing at all. The only way this would be possible without hurting the red team anymore would be to not add Orion clothing options to Fed Orions and also give them different/generic racial traits.

They never should have been KDF in the first place. They should have been the first mini-faction and/or the core of a freebooter faction. STO failed out of the gate with them (and the Gorn), and greatly limited its future options for expansion. Sadly this game never corrects its mistakes.

That said, I'd like to see them turned them into a mini-faction. They are what the Romulans were made to be, and the Romulans should have been a true third faction.

Since technically an Orion would be an 'alien' in Fed space, this makes the most sense. Unless, of course, you just want to wear a chainmail bikini and sit on the Admiral's desk in ESD. ;)

Because orions are klingon related, period. They belong to the klingon empire. Same as Ferengis belong to starfleet. And same as other species.

Considering that Vina and Marta were both Federation citizens, I've always wondered why Orions were KDF-side in the first place. (And yes, I know that Vina wasn't REALLY an Orion, except in a Talosian illusion. But Pike's other guests in the scenario were Feds, one even in uniform. So they were supposedly in FED -or at least neutral - space).

Now for game balance, it makes sense to have Orions KDF-side only, and I wholeheartedly support it. Canonically, though, it's ridiculous.

    [EDIT: typo.]

There's already plenty of ways to tint your skin and dress like you rent motel rooms by the hour. What more do such players really need?

The traits would be nice. Keep the clothing KDF exclusive. I'd like to have the racial traits though.

For that they would basically just need to make Deltans playable (something that they should have done five years ago). Those are basically fed Orions.

Well, except given the difference in how deltans mind control people vs how Orion's do it and this being a teen rated game it makes exactly as much sense to simply put "seduce" into the alien trait pool as to let deltans have it.

Deltans are (in a rare intelligent move for post-TOS) rightfully forgotten. Leave them forgotten.

Interesting tidbit, it seems that in a early draft green was a rather rare color for Orion girls implying that they came in a number of hues. Sort of makes sense really, wished they had aired with that.

I agree with this, make Deltans a playable race with the Orion seduction trait

Well of course. But people don't want Orions for green skin. They want Orions for the clothes.

Orions' only point of interest is racial discrimination at the tailor.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

    I don't see why not.

The Ferengi aren't members of the UFP and thus are free to go to whoever will take them. And while I don't think there's a single on-screen example of the Klingons mixing species on their ships (other than rare office exchanges)- logic isn't part of STO or even Star Trek anymore. We let Fed and KDF captains fly alien ships after all which is nonsense on wheels- so let people run what they want to run.

Hey, at least you can get an Orion exchange bridge officer. It would just be nice if you could put her in a Federation uniform.

Quoted for truth. And as far as faction specifics go, we have PLENTY of that without restricting races.

Or Fed Nausicaans, or Fed Letheans, or Fed Gorn...

...Yeah, just because X is available doesn't mean Y should be. No Fed Orions.

Fed Deltans, on the other hand...
