Did you not play though the 2800 arc yet? To jog your memory, Eraun pretty much said "Pissed off the Iconians? You're on your own toots! Lol! WARP SPEED HELM!"
The Dominion doesn't care what happens to us in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. The Iconians are aware of the Dominion and plan to invade their space after they've subjugated our space.
Yes but didn't Sela go to the Gamma quadrant to talk to the Dominion and the Iconians are hot on her heels? So the Iconians are already in Dominion territory, which might change their opinion on not getting involved.
Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end of it.
The Dominion are quick to forge alliances with species who are hostile toward the Federation, Klingon Empire and Romulan Republic. My guess is they're ready to set sail again with new found friends. They had to surrender to the Alpha Quadrant Alliance. I bet that's not sitting in their craws too well. I'm guessing they're itching to get another chance at subjugating the Alpha Quadrant.
Why did Sela go there? Was it to warn the Dominion? Doesn't sound like her speed. She's always proven to be a loose cannon on deck. Maybe her intent was to be an emmisary who would enable the Dominion and the Iconians to sit at table and forge a deal? Just speculating...
If I were one of the developers writing the storyline to take the game somewhere...this is how I would play it out.
Now honestly, the Dominion is the Founders tool to secure their own security by means of massive military warmachine subjugating a large area of space, forming a large buffer zone where they rule.
The Iconians are a dominating species themselves - they will not forge alliances with an entity like the great link. The Great Link knows that no cooperation with the iconians is possible.
What the great links knows is that bad blood between alpha quadrant races is going to boil over at some point or another. Keeping the vast resources of the alpha, beta and delta quadrants out of the hands of the Iconians is paramount. There is no future for the founders in a world ruled by iconians.
The Dominion will hold back until its clear that the Alliance will be defeated. Then they will assist. If the alliance remains strong the dominion will do nothing and wait for blood to boil, in time.
The Dominion is the /only/ significant threat to the Iconians, The Iconians said so themselves.... One of the panels in a recent mission said that the Iconians would have to conquer the other 3 quadrants entirely before they had the resources to effectively combat the Dominion, let alone conquer.
We don't want what the Feds have. We want the equivalent. We want fairer treatment. Concern, desire, greed to some extent, and passionate belief that the enough people would buy KDF items to make it worth Cryptic's while.
The Iconian arc is coming to an end very soon... it's too late to bring in the Dominion so hap-hazardly. They deserve a huge arc or expansion all their own imo
