Elite Pets: To'Duj Fighters OR Orion Interceptors

dukhattdukhatt Member Posts: 236 Arc User
Howdy great peeps,

Decided to play some more KDF side, with the http://sto.gamepedia.com/Corsair_Flight_Deck_Cruiser_Retrofit
(Even though the stats are not that good, in my opinion, I still incredibly love the visual of that ship)

SO, which pets should I take to go with it? I fully intend to play PvE only.
(I like the To'Duj fighters more in terms of appearance myself)

Elite To'Duj Fighters: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Hangar_-_Elite_To'Duj_Fighters
Elite Orion Interceptors: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Hangar_-_Elite_Orion_Interceptors

Best regards,
Duk

It might help your decision when you know that elite fighter pets don't add noticable performance increase (someone did the math, it's way below 10%) in damage and they die anyway. So I'd say just go with what fits your flavour best.

Additionally, fighter pets that use cannons (To'Duj, not sure about orion interceptors) don't actually use them after the initial volley because the AI treats all fighters as if they would be using omni-beams and circle the target. To'Dujs will only use their single turret.

I can confirm this at least for swarmers. The dps difference between elite and common swarmers is 200-300 dps, so int he big picture it doesn't make a difference and survivability is not an issue with fighters - they die constantly from AoE effects anyway.

Between the two options here, I'd recommend the interceptors; at Elite they have engine and weapon power drains, Tractor Beam 1, their disruptor pulse cannon (slow firing turret) and a chroniton torpedo. The Interceptors will provide tons of crowd-control, making your cruiser's weapons more effective. The only thing the To'dujs really bring to the table is basic torp spam.

If you're willing to consider less lore/theme friendly pets, the Elite Scorpions do a ton of damage with Heavy Plasma Torps (comboes nicely with the Fleet Corsair's option to run GW1) and Elite Swarmers do a lot of damage, but need to be relaunched often.

I am using the ship myself. True, the stats aren't great but the visuals are awesome.
Using the advanced orion interceptors myself since the kdf fleet I'm a part of has not yet unlocked elite pets.

Having said that i am not sure if i would use these elite pets.

You need to ask yourself: What is it that i want with these pets?
Is it role play then go with slavers, interceptors or marauding force.
If you want to play support then you may consider Tholian widow fighters from nukara reputation.
If you want siege damage then Elite scorpion fighters from Romulan rep.
Swarm damage then advanced/elite swarmers may be your pet of choice.

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

There was a leak some time ago that a new Orion ship was in the works so the Orion pet discussion is still valid.

How would you people compare between the Orion slaver and interceptor?

I don't think it's actually in the works. They posted it rather soon after the DR launch, way before the T6 gal & negh, then it was classified as unreleased/cut content for the longest time and now they aren't even listing it anymore. Especially considering we may or may not see a pack of heavy escort carriers......

My advice is go with Orion Slavers or Interceptors, but back them up with Reactive Repair Nanite ship trait to help keep them alive, they still die some times, but not as often and you'll usual have at least 50% survivors, and be able to release more.

Considering that the T6 Galaxy and Negh'var, etc are considered the big money tickets it's not hard to imagine that those were put first in line. Still think a T6 Orion Flight Deck Cruiser (possibly with intel or pilot slotting) is a real option.
