Its not. It is just the design, really terrible. It is a mix of a ship flying backwards and forward. I myself not going to fly that thing lol, it looks really bad. Too bad i noticed it too late (already had it unlocked lol).

Why complaining about the designers here? They took the ship design from a TNG episode, and the thing DOES fly that way. So they are just being accurate... Some people...
Problem with most people here is that they easily point fingers at Cryptic. Okay they have a reputation, does not mean all they do is wrong. So before accusing cryptic designers next time about a ship, do some homework.
And before people are shouting how i got my source here it is:
Season 1 Episode 09 - The Battle ( The Ferengi captain of this "nandi" ship is trying to take revenge on Picard, and uses some kind of brainwash device to lure him into a trap )

Yea... I think so. Also the front end of the Nandi does have a similar shovel design to the D'Kora.
And she's got the same "Pincher" ramscoop/weapon things that the D'Kora has.
Yep. Honestly I think they did a good job on the design. It does feel very Ferengi. I just have one request for it and that is found when you click this link.

I had a little trouble deciding on the name for mine. I had been calling it the Nandi Bear, after a cryptid from Africa that was featured on the show Destination Truth. The composite image they had come up with looked like an overgrown Hyena. And the evidence found lead to saying it probably was a Hyena after all, but may have had some truth to the tails in the past.
I eventually named her after the host of the show, Josh Gates. So... now... Josh found the Nandi Bear.

Another "This ship is backwards" thread? Didn't we already go through this with the Benthan?
and the First Breen ship
and the second breen ship
and the third Breen ship...

I don't remember anyone saying the Chel Grett was backwards. No one complained about the Plesh Brek being backwards, just KDF ranting about Feds getting a Raider. Only complaints about the Sarr Theln was it was not the same model as the NPC, which IMO looks like a chopshop kitbash with Chel Grett parts.

I actually prefer the npc theln's appearance :P
as to the nandi I had a fleety bitchin it was backwards but looking at the above pictures it seems to be flying exactly how I thought it should and how it looked like it was going to....
Come on what do you expect. Romulan ships aside, most of the non-cannon ships in this game are ugly. Can't think of a single non-cannon fed design that i outrightly like or kdf for that matter. Other than slapping some nacelles and the Faction logo most of the in-house designs look like they belong to another franchise, certainly not star trek.

I dunno the gorn ones look about right imo, just wish there were more and non-science ones
What a Klingon or Romulan science officer actually flying a proper science ship for their faction !, thats crazy talk !
a certain someone is opposed to the idea. No names mentioned as to who but rhymes with Echo.
Also used to play Bridge commander and ST.Armada 1&2 and Starfleet command and browsing through the fan made ship mods for those games and then looking at the content churned out here. Maybe a visit needs to paid to them to get ideas on how to design a fed ship.

and tbh I believe I was one of many complaining about the Benthan being backwards, but after I got it and flew ... it just... basically... flew over me and it didn't' bother me...
Probably going to be the same with the Nandi...
hehe one of my fleetmates also named his ship "Crossbow"
wounder how many Nandi' Crossbows are going to be flying around now...

Well... probably a lot. I might switch between Nandi Bear and Josh Gates.

Word is the Miranda was originally supposed to have the nacelles on top for Wrath of Khan, but the model was flipped over and they liked it better that way.

I have no problems with the Miranda especially since I have seen many schematics of ships from the Constitution class heavy cruiser era with the warp nacelles underneath the saucer (scouts, destroyers, frigates). I forgot who published those ship though.
I recall seeing those ships being used in FASA's StarFleet Battle board game which was later used as the basis for Interplay's Starfleet Command games.

I just unlocked it, and it wasn't worth the time. Too ugly, and lacking the Pilot ship movement the pilot skills themselves are wasted IMO.

I bet we do it again soon. Cryptic seems to be a backwards company.

And the back end of the Nandi looks alot like the back end of the D'Kora. Ferengi standard design I suspect.
