Finally, New Fleet Holding!

At long last, a new fleet holding!

The slow rise to 500 dil per zen should be thwarted by this, should finally get to see that dilex go down where it belongs!

I could have done without yet another grind myself. I had hoped they would avoid more holding until the rumored Fleet Revamp, seems that's not to be.

So how many fleets can muster their skeleton crews to build this thing? :confounded:

Probably won't be a big enough holding, to make a huge impact on the market. They would need to almost incorporate, an entirely new set of holdings to make the kind of dent people would prefer.

That line about the R&D sytsem got me interested. Hopefully it's something solid and not some RNG² TRIBBLE again (which it probably is :( ).

I see it the same way.

As for the OP, since Delta Rising we play a game where peeps have the option to make single ship builds as Dil expensive as an entire secondary holding for a fleet.

What makes you, or Cryptic for that matter, think that this Dil “sink” accomplishes anything terms of the Dilex?

As if the majority of players would earn their fleetcredits by donating Dil to base projects…

It will move the exchange. Sadly this will be at the cost to devoted medium fleet leaders who will donate most of the dilithium themselves. On the plus side this will benefit a large % of the playerbase and encourage more gameplay for a while. It may not move it fully but I'm expecting somewhere between 160 and 180.

Key word: "option." I daresay a new fleet holding with entirely new stuff to get will likely draw a lot more player interest than wasting arbitrarily large quantities of dilithium getting a few more stat points out of their gear, in a game that's easy and only getting easier.

EDIT: Especially considering the players who were going to spend arbitrarily large quantities of dilithium to make everything mk14 epic, have already done it months ago.

I really don't think the new holding will drive down the Dil Exchange Rate and it's not going to stop its constant climb. If anything, the new holding will just setback the fleets still struggling to complete their facilities. The capped fleets will have zero problems.

Now more than ever is the worst time for a new fleet with the goal of completing a Starbase and its associated holdings.

The statistics disagree. The mere announcement that a new holding is coming made the dilex drop 12 points already.

Yeah, I don't think the upgrade dil sink worked as well as hoped and the spire was added what, a year and a half ago?

I'd guess 200-210. There's too much demand for zen right now. It's not just that dil is weak but zen is too strong. People want the new ships. People are opening the lockbox for it doffs and traits and ships. And many delta recruits are still consuming services. Plus t6 fleet ships means fleet modules.

Read what I said again. It's not going to stop the climb ;) If it did come down a bit, cool. But it'll climb up again. The holding will be completed out just like any other holding. Fleets still struggling with getting their starbase & holdings done will now have another burden. Fleets that are already capped can basically pour all their efforts into the new, single holding.

Let me know when the Dil Exchange comes back down to 80-something. Then we really would have come down like some around here are expecting it to. Dipping a few points is inconsequential.

Of course it's not going to stay down. But I have pretty good faith in breaking 200. I'm currently planning to sell at 189. Or more accurately begin watching at 189 and hope it goes further. And sell the second it stops going down. I'm pretty well determined not to get stuck holding a very big bag as I have been for the past 8 months. We will never see the correct price of 130 ever again, nor will it long stay below 200 but this is a gift from Cryptic that may not come again.

waits for fleets to crash and Burn over members who need dil to upgrade there own gear rather than dump dil into fleet projects as players who live in the game Dump the Easy to get things (marks and EXP ) as soon as they open , while those that play a relaxing game can only dump dil and other high priced commodities which takes them months to acquire over those who live in the game take the dil make tons of Zen . Resentment ensues .fights start , bitching and moaning ETC .
unless Cryptic changes the project model to make it more balanced for donating to said projects . they made Dil needed for too many things . any fleet that doesn't have these kind of issues , is lying or blind to there members needs.

130 is not "correct". That is simply a price you like. But all prices are "correct for current game economy".

Particularly when the other side of the issue, how much dilithium you earn across all in-game activies, isn't going to change for the "better" any time soon either.

Way back when the viable sources of Dil were dailies, contraband, and PVEs. Then came reputation turn-ins and T5 reputation pay-outs. Then came battlezones. Then came dil-heavy special events. Then came dilithium for all PVE's, not just a select few. Then came dilithium for episodes. Then came delta-recruit account rewards. A given amount of dilithium does not represent the same amount of time (across the game) as it did when prices were "correct." That reflects in the zen prices. Its not the only effect, nor perhaps the most significant, but its one that's unwise to ignore if you want to make a comprehensive argument.

So long as the price stays around where it is now I'll continue to hoard it. I have millions waiting to buy zen but not at these prices. It has to drop significantly before I part with it.

This is good news. I wonder what goodies it will offer. The Fleet my Romulan is in finished the other smaller Fleet projects. We almost got our Star Base finished. Last time I helped the Fleet and got the Senate and Dyson outfit. Which I use at times. I hope to pick up a new outfit from this one.

Also hope this will drop the Dil exchange down to more reasonable levels. I can't afford to play that rich man's game. So it needs to be lower.

Yeah, I agree with you. There is plenty of dilithium to swim in now. Part of this, I think, was a response to the complaints about upgrade costs, but the rest of it has been in anticipation of far greater upgrade spending than has occurred. I think the expectation was that a good percentage of players would outfit several ships with different epic gear, along with three to five ground outfits for each character. I would say that very few people have done this. I know I haven't. 1 set of purple 14 space and ground is plenty. If the cost was only dilithium - sure I would have done it, but the EC cost in my opinion is staggering. Such upgrades would make me a pauper. So the drain of the upgrades was not as powerful as expected nor did it last as long.

I do think that Cryptic is being fair and responsible with managing the exchange. As I have said many times - they could have blown it up to 500 anytime they wished. Say they made the upgrades cost zen instead of dilithium for example - an upgrade token in the store. But they seem cognizant of the fact that there is a point where most people will stop grinding. For me it is around 200. May be 250 for others, 300 for some. And they put in sinks to balance the demand. There have also been many many many events and new ships and sales put into the game in the last few months that have driven the price up. So now it is time for some balance.

Cryptic is more likely to tank it to 25:1 than blow it up to 500:1. At 500:1 a 200,000 dil fleet project only costs 400 zen. At 25:1 it costs 8,000 zen.

At 500:1 people with zen are highly motivated to bu dil but those with dil are not motivated to buy zen.
At 25:1 the reverse is true.

So there's clearly a bell curve where the forces balance out and it is going to be constantly fluctuating based on in game desire for zen and dilithium. Both extremes will reduce the total number of transactions per day. Cryptic wants as many transactions as possible, as low a ratio of dil to zen as possible to maximize their profits.

I suspect their maximum profit exchange position is between 150 and 200 right now given our current in game mix of zen and dil sinks. I would not be surprised to see some more things come along to sink dil into that will help push it down closer to that 150-200 range. Like, I strongly suspect that the rnd changes with the new holding will include new uses for dilithium in crafting to make the new holding more of a dil sink than the spire was.

I pulled all of my zen off the exchange when it dropped below 250.
