Will STO Support DirectX 12

Will STO Support DirectX 12 when Windows 10 is released? It would be Nice if a Developer could answer this Please.

No dev here but trust me it wont. As in the posting above explained this game is mostly dx9 and dx11 is crashy at best not sure if they really use geatures from it. So forget about dx12 any time soon.

DX11 does not crash. STO has never crashed on my machine. Have you tested your equipment to see if it may be the cause? Don't just insult the programmers.

If you're asking if the game will play if you have DX12 installed, then yes. DX12 will support the play of games and applications that use previous versions of DX12.

If you're asking if the game will be recoded to use DX12 specific features, then the answer is no. Doing so would mean that users would have to have DX12 in order to play the game which would mean it would only run under Windows 10 since DX12 is specific to Windows 10.

Obviously, they're not going to do that.
    Insert witty signature line here.

I don't think you are using DirectX 11 if you were told to put this in options Command line "-d3d11Enable 0" you are auto selecting DirectX 9 I think with season 10 they wanted us to be able to use DirectX 11 but it failed.

Support, of course, in fact im pretty sure that the game will run just perfectly fine using directx12 right now.

Now other completely different thing is if the game will take advantaje of directx12 libraries. That will not happen. They need to "learn" how to make the game fully compatible with directx11 first...

DX11 does not crash. STO has never crashed on my machine.

And there you go, another "this never happened to me, so its flawless" lol. STO almost never crashed for me in years, but that doesnt mean the poor compability with directx is NOT the problem on some systems. You know that every system is a complete different world, right?
