- Costume Packs for ships: This could be done several ways. Imagine if the zen store had packs for sale that included extra nacelles. And another pack that included extra deflectors etc. etc. I for one would be very interested in packs like this. They could be organized in this way.

+ FED Assault Cruiser Nacelle Pack (3-6 extra parts)
+ FED Assault Cruiser Deflector Pack
+ FED Assault Cruiser Hull Pack
+ FED Assault Cruiser Saucer Pack
+ FED Exploration Cruiser Nacelle Pack
etc.
etc.
etc.

People would be all for this. And unlike all of the junk that has been added in the last year, it won't ruin "balance" or the false perception of it.

Most of us have one or more Alien toons. You (Cryptic) have already said that there isn't going to be a Cardassian faction. So why hold back? Give us the ability to buy our friggin Cardassian uniforms. Zen store, lobi store, I don't really care. Make the next lockbox ship a Keldon. Scrap the Jem'hadar Strike ship for a while and give us a promo for the Hideki. Yes, there are a few of us that for some reason love the Hideki. And we'd pay out of our &#$ for it.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

For whatever reason, Cryptic decided to remove all the ship costumes from the C-Store and put them on the Fleet ships. Would be nice if Cryptic adds more cosmetic items to the game, but something tells me that it just won't happen.

When/where was it stated that there will never be a cardassian faction by cryptic? The only thing I know they said is that they made a mistake by giving away the Galor in a lock box, and it's been stated recently on the last podcast that I remember Al Rivera doing that said Cardassians are still a very big possibility for a faction, despite a ship being in a lock box.

Monetization Idea: 5$ to log into the game, every time :)

so you want them to monetize the fluff content huh?
what next would you want monetized? for each indiviual molecule to be monetized for reassembally on the transporter pad to and from place to ship and vice versa?
to monetize for every in game lung full of air you take in?
    every single round fired?

i wont buy junk like this for any price offered. it could end up like the bridge packs, ultimately ignored and not worth the investment.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

That is a bit excessive. They used to offer ship skins in the C-Store before PWE bought Cryptic. Back then, the C-Store was just for the cosmetic fluff. The bridge packs were largely ignored due to the assets being sub-standard. If the current art team created new skins and bridge packs now, I am almost certain they would sell a lot better. The most popular bridges are the Constitution, Belfast, Voyager, and the unique lock box bridges. Even the current Origin Bridge is better than the older bridge packs.

Cryptic moved away from selling "pure" customes.

They moved on to bundling it with stats, e.g. new ship stats, a console and now also with a starship trait.

This seems to result in an overall better "monetization" than selling the costumes at the "old" costume prices.

If I had to guess, I'd expect that the visual artists work for ships is the most expensive. Making decent 3D models, texturing, lighting and animating them, plus making them interchangeable with pre-existing models or new models is probably more work than picking new stats for a ship and developing two new abilities (1 console, one trait) with them.

I would not be surprised if the pre-F2P C-Store prices for costumes did not actually pay for themselves and were basically partially financed with the subscriptions. But even if that wasn't the case, I suspect the return on investment is now better.

It might also be reason for all those 3-ship and even 9-ship pack sales. The 3-ships ensure that each model is financed, and the 9-packs basically exist because lots of people will buy the 9-pack just to not miss anything, even if they don't play Romulan or KDF as often as Starfleet - which means even the Fed-focused players will finance the KDF and ROM stuff. Sure, they pay only the price for the ship for 2 factions instead of 3, but normally they might pay only the price for 1 faction, and the non-Fed ships might not even get made...

All in all, I don't think Cryptic will go back to selling ship parts on the C-Store. The current model is likely more lucrative.

But I wonder if ship-parts might not be something they could put in the Dilithium Stores, basically as a bit of a Diltihium sink. Make it a character-unlock for example, and people have reasons to grind them on each character they want a part for - or they buy Dilithium via Zen on the Exchange.
