Temporal warfare full set, worth it?

cervantes3cervantes3 Member Posts: 27 Arc User
I have decided to equip my Delta recruit (tactical) with everything related with the temporal theme.

Now i have enough lobby to buy the full temporal warfare set, but does it worth the investment?
If i decide to buy it, can you give me some advices for a good set up to build with the Moebius?

Another thing, but this time just for my curiosity:
Thanks to my farm of EC, i was able to buy the Moebius and the Aeon on the exchange (next will be the Wells) and i noticed something with the paint:
I am able to put the Mirror Universe paint on both ships and i was wondering if it comes with the Moebius or if the fact to have the Deep space Mirror Universe vessel has something to do with it?

The paint comes from the M

I actually have a tac captain running the mobius with the temporal warfare set. i havent used him in forever, but it was basically your standard anti proton build. i used the three peice set, load up your tac cosnoles with AP boosting consoles, use the 2 piece set from SoI, the warp core and 360 array, and you got a pretty deadly ship, if you use the torp, most would toss it in the back but its upto you really.

Yes, yes and yes again! I've used it for years on my Mobius! It's an antiproton build, with five fleet (now made epic) antiproton mag regulators.

The Temporal Warfare set gives you a bonus to chroniton torpedoes, which also benefit from antiproton mag regulators and chroniton beam arrays.

I use two cannons, the beams and a torpedo up front. The kinetic cutting beam, another beam and the temporal weapon in the back...it's only worth using on high yield though.

Completing the set also gives you the inversion field and a boost to speed.

It's a fantastic set and with the Kremin coming, I think will become even more valuable.

i'd just like to point out, that without the wells special console, the manheim device from the mobius is rather.... crappy, and is really only good for trash mobs as the fututre/past you dont use the same equipment and abilities, and if the past one blows up, so do you.

Used cunningly and perfectly timed, it can be great. The set and the ability to save your skin and freeze your targets is great, but I wouldn't sniff at the Manheim.

Wow, it looks like I'm not the only one with this idea. When I first heard about the Temporal theme with Delta Recruits, the first thing I thought was it was finally time to spring for a timeship. So I got a Mobius a few months ago and held onto it for Delta to start. As the others have said it is a beast of a ship, especially with the famous AP build.

As to the Temporal set, I only have two pieces so far, the beams and the Converter, but it has been a blast to use. :D I am now especially excited with the Krenim showing up soon and have high hopes for even more Temporal stuff to equip it with in the coming months.

Good luck, and for me at least, yes the Temporal set is worth it.

EDIT: I also agree with the others about the Manheim device, you might already know this by now but it is essentially a suicide button. It's too bad it has to pass "past" damage onto the main ship, but I guess if it didn't someone would say its overpowered.

The temporal warfare set is a weapon and console set not the consoles from the ship. Its in the lobi store.

I was always disappointed when the temporal angle wasn't pursued...we had the lock boxes, Temporal Ambassador, but then nothing.

I always thought the Krenim would make an amazing bad guy (I'm sick of everything being about the Iconians) and maybe we'd all need temporal cores to fight them, with bonuses to the time ships.

Even without the unique consoles, the Mobius is an incredible escort...fast, manoeuvrable, good hull strength, big kick. It's the ship I always come back to.

No, I think they are referring to the Temporal Inversion field from the 3 piece set bonus. It sort of freezes time if used on a timeship too. And then separatley on how the Manhiem is awful.

Thanks for the answers, i'll buy the set then.

So i have to go with the anti-proton? Then i will do the Dyson reputation which give some boosts in that matter, among other things.
Can you tell me if the iconian reputation give also something buffing the anti-proton? I just begin it with another character and i dropped some radiant anti-proton weapons from the crates.

I swear, use the Manheim in the Undine space battlezone...the duplicates can distract the right enemy and let you get on with doing something else.

The device is all a matter of strategy, not a suicide console.

    ^^^ QFT.

As I've said before in other threads, it is now my favorite ship in the game. (Well, at least considering the fact that I never have enough EC for the Wells at any given time :(, though the Wells is a sci ship so I probably should not be comparing them anyway. :P )

You don't have to go with antiproton, that's just what I did. You could go for a beam boat, torpedo or use any variety you're happiest with...it's your build :-)

He might have to though if he wants to get the most out of the Chroniton DBB, as it is antiproton. Of course he could just accept the slight dip in DPS and then focus on another primary energy type, but not many players today are willing to mix energy types. Which is probably sensible and "rainbow" boats are pretty, but not very useful.

I have the Wells myself...really just for the console to complete the set, because I'm tac and love cannons, but opening the lock boxes can provide some good gear. You take the chance of getting one and selling some things that might help you afford one :-)

no, but an AP build will get the most out of the dbb, whereas with another build, it would be less oomph to it.

True, very true, but I plan on saving up my Zen until the next lockbox comes out. Not that we could possibly know what that will be. But perhaps "psychically"; I have this feeling it will fit my theme. ;) I skipped the last couple boxes, and while I don't plan to go overboard I think this "possible" box might just be worth my yearly investment in STO. I don't expect to get the grandprize, I never have before, but there is always other gear to be had and EC to be made from the rest.

EDIT: After reading my last line over I realized I'm starting to sound a bit like a Ferengi. I think its time I stopped leaving my main standing next to the Nandi on Risa when I logout. Its "Greedy Emitters" seem to be contageous. :D

In my case i continu to use my monthly Zen to buy some keys, this month i'll buy 10 more, but i have to say that after opening more than 150 temporal crates, i'm a bit discouraged, especially when i saw someone else dropping the ship just after i opened my crates without success

You know, I think your Spidey-Sense might be on to something. :D Of course, not that any of us would know about such things before they are announced. But then again it is true that one of the aspects of time travel involves seeing the future...

I always promise myself I'm going to ignore my LTS stipend for six months and let Cryptic buy me a new ship. But I never seem to quite make it... :(. I have been building up some keys though too, but if I were you I'd hold off on the old Temporal lockboxes for another month or so. I'm not saying something might be around the corner that would be better but... ;). Anyway, we shouldn't talk anymore of "censored" topics, for fear of getting this thread locked, but you may soon be happy you had some keys lying around.

P.S. You probably already know this, but never open boxes if you just want a ship, the chances are just too low. Instead either open a box for other gear and lobi or (If you really just want the ship) just sell the keys, forgoing lobi and other unique gear and rewards, and buy the ship off the exchange a few months later. Thats how I got the only two lockbox ships I ever bought.

Edit: I apologize for the gratuitous use of the word "just" in the previous paragraph. Those responsible for the issue have JUST been sacked. :P (Monty Python FTW)

If the Krenim's chroniton flux torpedoes can really pass through any shields and cause kinetic damage, you'd need either temporal shields or a temporal core to survive against an attack...it would be great to have a new equipment slot or a console (the Wells and Mobius come with a unique superior one of course ;-) ).

Well selling the keys was my first idea, but after having bought everything i could related to the temporal theme, if i put aside the pretty useless ground weapons what's left now is the hardest one (The Wells).
I have only 36 M of EC and the first price is 254 M on the exchange, so i though to use these keys to try my chance but you're right, it will be better for me to sold them.
At least i will enjoy the Moebius.

You need a Wells to really make the set work, it is non-optimal on other ships

Wells is a T5 ship. Any money on T5 is throwing it into a hole in the ground

I'm glad i picked up a wells ages ago, can't remember how much for, but a lot less than they're going for now. Mobius+Tipler Cylinder+Temporal Warfare set+aeon timeship skin is a good way to go. As for the temporal disruption device (the torp), i put it in a rear slot. Its too slow to have going forward; found that the hard way after flying into the explosion several times. Shame the set bonus for chroniton torp damage is pointless.

Not really, it works on the Mobius just fine. Remember, OP is talking about the lobi weapon/console set not the "Timeship" set.
Wells is a T5 ship. Any money on T5 is throwing it into a hole in the ground

Say that to my fully optimized T5-U Scimitar, I dare ya. :D

Seriously though, I really don't get the T5-U snobbery around here. The only thing T6 really has going for it uniquely is the Mastery Trait, and you can use those with any ship. After scaling up with a T5-U's "lesser" Mastery system the difference is negligable if you are geared well. And while yes, the Scimitar is not the best example, as it was overpowered to begin with, I also still use my Avenger to great effect. Not to mention the ship this thread is about - the Mobius - which I would still bet on against any T6 ship. (except perhaps the new bug.) So back to OP, no, if you like a T5-U ship and it dosen't have a T6 varient don't let that stop you from enjoying it. :) It will serve you just fine and it is better to have an older ship you love than a new ship that looks like the Klingon Command Cruisers. :P

Temporal set is pretty darn good. the 3 piece bonus is well worth it. pricy for lobi items, you may want to wait for a sale. they happen.

    Other things to consider:
2 piece Iconian rep set - the console and the iconian beam array, it complements the capabilities well
the polaric modulator console works really durn good for the Wells, it can only be better for the Mobius

I have the Wells and the Mobius, and I love them. THey may only be T5, but I wont be getting out of them anytime soon.

So to search the best optimization for the Moebius i have to do the Iconian reputation as well, it's noted thanks for the advice!

Frankly speaking me too i don't get the T5-U snobbery. I have the Kobali and the Breen carrier whch are T6 and if they are better, it's not far better.
Yes they have one more level of mastery which is still powerful, there's also a station for a specific specialized officer, but that's all.
I can perform close to the same with my T5-U Dyson or Odyssey, so I'am fairly confident that an optimized Moebius will be efficient for PVE, same for the Wells.

Beside, the Moebius and the Wells are the sole box vessels that i desire for a while. I have simply no interest in the others, even the very reputed adapted Tal shiar. Same for the T6 in the zen store, they have nothing that could make me buy them.
But if one day there's a temporal T6, maybe i will consider it if it's nice.
