enemy signal contacts, or lack thereof...

okay, i asked this question a while back and i never got an answer, and then the thread got deleted (i think)... so I'm asking it here. i dont know where else to ask this, so if you moderators know of a better place to stick this thread, please feel free to do so.

I'm new to Season 10, so please be gentle :o
i like the restructuring of the maps, however no matter which sector i travel to, i cannot find, for the life of me, any enemy signal contacts... i see deep space encounters (which i cant play), but no enemy signal contacts. I used these zones to grind for both gear and energy credits, and im wondering if this is a glitch, or if it's on purpose.

if it's a glitch, then i hope you can repair it... but if it's not, that's a huge bummer, because that helped a lot in this game in acquiring equipment.

but like i said, i dont know if this is supposed to be like this or not. im just looking for feedback, I'm not trying to start any problem of any kind, i just want to know why these zones are gone, because they never appear anymore for me.

The DSEs are still around, but they are far less frequent right now. Give the Devs a little more time. The Sector Space map is new and certain things will probably be rolled out little by little. Their main concern was just getting it out and working - plus they added all the Exploration nodes. Adding more DSEs and Cargo Ships will get rolled in - as will getting the Foundry doors linked up.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

okay, so it's possible that they havent released everything yet? okay. well, i hope that's the problem... and arent the DSEs and the regular enemy signal contacts different? from what basic research I've done, the DSEs are team-based, as in a group of people go in and work as a team, etc... with the regular enemy signal contacts, you could go in as a lone ship as just fight wave after wave if you desired...

i guess my hope is that they havent updated everything yet, because, for me, this really takes away a lot of the replay value for me. if that really be the case, i do have my own opinions on that decision, but i'm not a game developer.

I'll be honest, i never really have done any Foundry missions (i've been a player since 2012), and yeah those exploration nodes are kinda cool... again, im just worried about the replay value, because i REALLY dont want to get so frustrated to the point to where i just give up playing... i really like this game

DSE stands for Deep Space Encounter. Those are the enemy ships flying around Sector Space. They used to chase you and suck you in. Now they just fly around.

the only DSEs that i see in sector space are that particular red alerts that randomly pop up on the map... maybe im missing something?

They will appear on your map as csmic says.

Look for the Red Combage Icon.

    and names like

Deep Space Enounter: Assimilate the Barbarians.

yeah, i saw those contacts (ie Assimilate the Barbarians), but I'm talking about the regular enemy signal contacts that you could find all-throughout the sectors... sometimes it would appear as if an enemy ship is flying around, and when you get close enough, they change into a small red "battle-zone" area where you could engage n enemy that was native to that specific sector.

for example, i would travel to the Zeta Andromadae Sector Block, and fly to the lower left sector- the Vanden sector- and battle the Terran Empire (i think that's what they were). it was a good place to grind for a bit to get some gear for energy credits.

these are the enemy signal contacts i am referring to

now, as i said earlier, they have all disappeared from the maps... thecosmic1 says that they're still there, however i have yet to even run into one of these. I'm hoping the game developers will make these much more prevalent and abundant when they get this whole map thing situated, because this really doesnt encourage me to play much right now at all.

i used those battle zones to help equip my characters better, and with those gone, it takes a lot of replay value away from the game.... but like i said earlier, i hope this will be fixed a bit later.

Yes I know what you're talking about. Those I'm not sure if they're going to put them back in. The DSEs cover a lot of them. Plus they just randomly pop up on the map. But those were kind of buggy... always found them cloistered up against the sector walls.

Unfortunately Deep Space Encounters are at Fixed locations - you can see the titles for them if you fly around, but they probably won't have anything under them.

Signal Contacts on the other hand are the ships that randomly fly around, and you have to hunt for these. UNFORTUNATELY, many of the missions that required Signal Contacts changed when they changed the map - as in the Signal Contacts seem to have completely vanished from the game completely.

Abandoned ships and Unknown Nebula are for crafting materials only, and have no real play-effect to the game. They even show up as white 'dot' ships on the map if you zoom in when moving.

Signal contacts were usually represented by a red icon on the map that moved around.
DSEs are represented by a red icon with gold markers around the edges. They don't move.

Alerts: The do not always have anything to to with DSEs. Sometimes the alert takes place, but no DSE will be seen anywhere on the map. At other times, set DSEs will be affected or activated when a Sector Alert goes off.

Signal Contacts, such as those needed to complete the Story-REQUIRED mission: Defend the Beta Quadrant are missing completely.

I came back after the change to series 10, but it has been months and I have yet to see a single Signal Contact in the game.

    :'(

The Required Signal contacts for missions also can't be replaced by using the DSEs. They won't give you credit for completing them, where as the Signal Contacts are the actual thing required by the game missions.

Solution: You have to skip that mission. It is unplayable.
