Terrible wait and disconnects during Logins

Ever since yesterday I've had terrible problems around the login process.

It will take a good few minutes now for the ENGAGE button to even load on the login screen (compared to instant beforehand) and its a massive struggle to enter the game once I've selected my characters, which again suffers from a massive delay for the character select to appear.

9 times out of 10 my selected character won't make it through to the game and I'll get disconnected or Login2 Timeout and have to try choosing the character again. Even in game, it will take about 20 to 30 seconds to update info like completed DOFF assignments and other graphic elements around me.

The whole game seems plagued by huge data delays. Is anyone else getting this?

I'm in the UK fyi.

I'm in the US and the game is unplayable.

DC on login half the time.

    Characters taking forever to load.

Massive lag, rubberbanding, and frequent DCs.

At least twice today alone I've had to (or will have to, when I calm down enough) do missions over again. Not replay, mind you. A complete do-over before they were finished the first time.

These are PvE story missions. Not fancy Elite STFs.

I've been pinging and tracerting all day. Net has been horrendous once it hits cogentco legs and the patchserver has had at least 3 different names and high times on pings, so it's obvious the game server is the source of all our sorrow.

Sorry to break it to you, devs, but YOUR GAME NEEDS FIXING (STILL). I know that truth is a hard pill to swallow, so I'll volunteer to force-feed it to you, as I'm a paying customer (not some whiny F2Per).

    Can you tell I'm pi$$ed?

there are a host of issues right now, basically too much information is being passed around. Too much traits. So they're working on cleaning up the data for those traits so it doesn't overwhelm our processors, the servers and the networks.

Would that also be effected my ability to log in as well though? My biggest thing now is the amount of disconnect or time out logins now and how long it even takes to go through this process? It'll take 3 or so minutes for my ENGAGE button to even appear now.

That would be a problem with your graphic cards, for the engage screen. On your end. It can`t be on cryptic`s end.

I suspect the problem lies with shockwave,

Can't be. I've tried it on two separate laptops and they both have the same issue. And its not that the ENGAGE button isn't loading, its that it takes ages to kick in and stays on PATCH for several minutes (even though it isn't patching). Everything seems very delayed and lagging.

It gets there but seems massively slow.

The fact even in the game (when I luck out and get in), I'm getting server disconnects and massive delays of information says this is not a graphics card issue at all.

I'm experiencing this too, it could be that shockwave is causing the issues.

Yes, because Cryptic couldn't possibly have any problems with their system whatsoever, right? Somehow, since the WW, everyone else's computers, graphics cards, drivers, OSs, ISPs, and all other software has suddenly and simultaneously all gotten worse while nothing has ever gone wrong with any of Cryptic's hardware or software. A miracle occurred when they joined (IM)Perfect World Entertainment and now none of their systems are ever infallible. Ever.

Do you "white knights" even realize how stupid you sound when you try to pass off that TRIBBLE to the rest of us?

if you read what I said, the problem lies with the graphic cards. While it is our problem, it isn't our fault. Cryptic can solve it by not having coding that overwhelms our graphic cards or sends too much information through the servers thus slowing the systems down.

Stop trying to be so negative and hostile. It makes you look like an TRIBBLE.

    ...ahem...
There are three large issues that are impacting performance right now, and they're all under investigation.

We're having some odd network issues, not including DDOS attacks, and you may have seen trendy collecting traces along with other information from players. This data is being passed off to our network engineers who are working to solve this issue.

A bug that caused major FPS issues went live with Season 10 and wasn't discovered until Friday. We have a fix that's already on tribble and will go live this week.

We did some profiling on our heavier maps and discovered that some player powers are incredibly expensive on our gameservers. It will take some time to identify them all and rebuild them in a way where they are functionally identical to you, but far less expensive for the gameservers. This is a change that will take time but will trickle out as we identify the offending powers and make fixes.

This is a pretty big deal to us and we have a fair amount of people across a wide array of disciplines working to get this resolved. I apologize for the inconvenience and my delay in posting something about it. Nothing nefarious about the delay, it's simply a busy time over here post release.

Not once were the words "graphic cards" mentioned in salamiinferno's post. The only similar reference to such a problem was in the third issue regarding player powers lagging the gameservers. Here's the flaw in your explanation.

I've been playing my low-level ∆ toons lately and, as they are low-level without fancy new T6 C-Store ships and specializations or specialized BOffs and are involved in story missions, not STFs with multi-players, that issue does not relate to my particular problem (or many other players that have been complaining about lag in PvE story missions). I'm not using the new fancy "player powers" and, many times, I'm hardly doing anything at all combat-wise (browsing the exchange, doing DOff assignments, R&D, putting stuff in/taking stuff out of the bank, or even just sitting in space), yet I see SERVER NOT RESPONDING pop up constantly for no reason whatsoever (on my end). Repeated disconnects as well, DCs on login, Login2_Timeout errors, logging in yet waiting for my characters to appear, etc. all have NOTHING to do with "player powers".

And salamiinferno never stated "it was our problem", rather that it was on their end (HALLELUJAH!!!) on all 3 counts.

Stop making BS excuses for Cryptic's problems. It makes you look like a "white knight".

...and there we go again. This is what's really happening (and JUST happened).
Right after posting my last, I logged on to the game. Slow to load the character list. Selected my Fed main (58). Hit Play. Appeared in sector space near Sol. Checked R&D. Accepted 2 completed items. Started one item. Started a second item...

    ...SERVER NOT RESPONDING (20.00s)...

    ...Disconnected from Server...

    ...:) Have a nice day! :)

This has NOTHING whatsoever to do with graphics cards or player powers.

Well that's a relief I thought it was just me and this old WinXP Pro machine (which Arc has admitted they screwed up on their latest update, fortunately I found the work around in the forums to at least log in).

I'm with you on this I started 3 new Delta recruits for each faction last week and its constant disconnects doing nothing.

I'm not even trying to do missions with my level 58 Admiral, so hopefully we'll play the waiting game for now and see if all the other issues with graphics that no longer show up (scanning, transwarp, etc) will be fixed, too.

    OK!

The server and game. IMO plays like a minecraft server they keep adding mods to. To many of everything going on at once. More carriers, more effects, more powers, more players, more traits, more of everything. Things I do crafting and general moving around my character most of the time are fine. Its the space missions that really TRIBBLE the game out for whatever reasons.

They just need to fix it. Best thing we can do is maybe post here. and also send in a ticket. Lag being the number one issue in game. If they don't fix it eventually the game will just die. Does not matter how fancy and sweet it all looks. The fact is.

It just does not play well at all!!
