In case anyone missed the tribble patch notes, they are significantly nerfing XP from doffing in the next patch.
"Resolved an issue that was causing all assignments with durations between 12 hours and 15.9 hours to scale their rewards more aggressively than intended.
The Skillpoint, Expertise and CXP bonuses from these Assignments will be reduced accordingly."
What they mean by this is the 12 hour missions that yield decent xp, like Suppress Gorn Uprising, the 12-hour delta quadrant missions, etc.
Do you guys think this is a good idea? Should xp be nerfed even more, to make spec points take even longer to get than they do now?

The 12 hour missions were originally Suppress Gorn Uprising, Arrange Accident to Acquitted Orion, Bribe Local Governor, and Blackmail Local Governor, and were a kdf-only feature that made up for the lack of ships, costumes, teammates etc on the KDF faction. Adding 12 hour cross faction doff missions to Dyson and Delta zones is the bug!

Originally, the only big number 12 hour assignments were Suppress Gorn Uprising, they were hard to find and needed 5 officers plus two kinds of commodities, and they were an incentive to play kdf, something special to balance the lack of kdf content relative to the Feds like ships, costumes, and team mates that is still a real thing.
This got forgotten about, and you guys added more and more 12 hour missions, first in the dyson sphere and then in the delta quadrant. The high xp on these missions is not unintentional, what was unintentional was adding more and more missions to the previously unique and special purpose 12 hour section.
If you don't want there to be so many 12 hour xp missions, you can just change the delta quadrant and dyson sphere ones to a different duration.
This is a huge blow to the kdf in the game, these missions, like kdf contraband missions, are a central incentive for playing kdf toons, they are a way to balance the lower amount of content like ships and costumes and teammates vis a vis the fed faction.
The higher XP was -not- a bug and -not- unintentional. Please consider why, previous to Dyson and delta 12 hr missions, the only ones in the game were kdf specific Gorn uprisings. It's always been the conventiona wisdom on STO that one of the reasons to play kdf is better doffing. Gorn uprisings and marauding, this has been true since dawn of the doff system.
Making more and more 12 hour missions was a bug, and the fix is to fix those missions which were put in the 12 hour slot by mistake.

First up, Suppress Gorn Uprising is a 20 hour assignment IIRC so this will not be affected, nor will the 1.9k (base) Skill Point 20 hour assignment from the Dyson Sphere...
In fact, the only assignments I can think that will be affected by this are the 1.2k (base) Skill Point assignments from the Delta Quadrant - I know there are others, but these are the only regular ones which I do...
So, the impact of this one change will be minimal... At least as far as 12hour duration, noteworthy XP rewarding assignments are concerned...
Having said that however...
I don't think it's necessary... Though Doffing can reward some pretty good XP, it's not enough to be considered significant compared to other options, and really in no need of 'nerfing', lest Cryptic remove any reason to continue Doffing once hitting Tier 4 Commendations...

Therein lies the problem. There is a nugget of truth in your three dozen players comment, but that indicates this game has far worse problems to worry about than a slight XP nerf.

I get one or two every weekend just casually playing. Delta patrols, Tau Dewa patrols, some Red Alerts, the odd queue.
You know, back when the threads starting coming up about all the XP nerfs, Patrol Nerfs, etc., people defended the nerfs because we still could level through DOFFing.

Yeah, I was just coming back to correct myself on that... I was confusing Supress Gorn Uprising with Suppress Civil Unrest assignment durations...
I was also forgetting there are alot of smaller, 1 and 2 Doff, 12hour duration assignments KDF side, which have a base XP reward of around 1-1.2k which will also be affected...
So, the effect will be much greater than I originally thought... Time will tell...
Yep, and to a degree I was one of them as I'd hoped that Cryptic's comments of 'normalising' XP gain were just that - XP gain would be steady regardless of how you played, instead of being herded to Argala etc...
Unfortunately, I'm still waiting to see this fully implemented...
I just had to make special comment on this, as I can understand why some get their back up whenever Dental members post something, even those posts (such as this thread) which are in the better interests of the playerbase...
It's a shame yourself and your members did not adopt the above quoted viewpoint, in relation to how your fleet responded, to the way in which other people wished to pay their respects recently... It would have saved considerable disruption both in-game and on these forums...
Such behaviour is exactly why I'm not suprised by people questioning Dental's intentions...
PS : It's funny how they completely broke the Doff System in S10 ... yet this is the only thing they had to "Fix" ...
And likely when this issue of it over scaling happened, no one remembers or cares, but now it is being fixed, you are up in arms. What a joke.

This 'issue' with XP scaling 'happened' so long ago, that I cannot remember the affected assignments ever rewarding anything less than they presently are...
So, in other words, it 'happened' a very long time ago...
So long ago in fact, that the 12hour Delta Quadrant assignments have always rewarded around 3k (non-crit) for me when using a full complement of purple Doffs - meaning that they have been 'over rewarding' since Delta Rising was launched...
In other words, it was either broken from the start, or never was and this is potentially a significant nerf in an area which really doesn't need nerfing...
Were do you got that info, "the devs have more plans to buff the rarer doff assignments to have better rewards." ??

Geko mentioned it in last week's Priority One Podcast... I didn't realise they were already starting to implement the first steps to changing Doffing though...
Pretty sure the "Gorn Uprising" - Assignments even predate this by several years ... "Scaling Issue" is just a fancy word for "Nerf" ...
I'm positive they do... I'm just not sure when they started rewarding at their current levels...
The Delta Quadrant 12hour assignments however, have a very specific and fixed point I could work from and, from my experience, there have been no changes at all to their rewards in that time...
