Assimilated set problems?

I just upgraded the assimilated shield from the reputation and noticed it wasn't getting any stronger, not sure if it's a tooltip error or if it really is not upgrading right, currently I'm waiting for it to complete, but mk xiv looks the same as mk xii. Is anyone else having a similar issue? Also I noticed that when my bop cloaks with the assimilated set some of the a aesthetics disappear and don't come back till after I finish the mission.
