SF Tac officer looking for advice

I've been having fun with my Delta Recruit... a little too much fun. The levels flew by... logged in as lvl 33 and logged off as 52... was wondering why the Roms were tearing through me like tissue paper until I realized I hadn't upgraded my shields past Mk VIII yet LOL

At any rate, I am about to be in the market for a T6 ship... I just don't know what to get for my gameplay style. I was going to get a fleet ship but the only one available is the Galaxy... meh.

I tend to be a 'hit em hard and hit em fast' kind of guy. I'll stick with beams and torps and would prefer a ship with 4/4 or at least 4/3 weapon config. Balanced console slots, decent hull strength. Even better if it has a hangar.

I'd spend up to 5000 zen, I suppose, if I have to but I don't want to just drop $50 on a ship I might not like for the long run - this has to be something that I can feel confident in keeping around for a while as my primary ship. I have no real preference between an Intel vs a Command ship, unless there is a specific advantage with one over the other.

So any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hitting "hard and fast" is usually not associated with Cruisers and their 4/4 weapons layout. That said, the one ship that ticks all of the boxes for the specs you've suggested points to the Presidio Command Battlecruiser. 4 Tactical consoles, one hangar bay, Command BOff seating. Definitely one of the more flexible T6 Cruisers currently available.

If you're not concerned with acquiring ship traits, you could always consider a Fleet-T5U ship (eg. Fleet Avenger Battlecruiser). They're still quite competitive with a good build.
Forget the possibility of PvP, for so much has become pay-to-win, never to be balanced. Forget the promise of exploration and research, for in the grim dark future of Star Trek Online there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting publishers.

I've thought about the T5U and the Avenger is on my list of maybes.... I'll have to compare these two side by side.

    Thanks for the feedback!

EDIT: After looking at the two, the Presido does offer the 2nd Tac BO slot and a hangar... hmmm....

There's also the intel ships. The may not have a fleet variant yet but they do pack quite a punch. Both the Phantom and Eclipse are still great ships despite not being the latest shiny.

Mostly depends on what specialization you want to use in endgame and keep in mind that in a few weeks pilot will also be a primary spec with ships for it, so maybe hold off your purchase till we see what they'll have to offer.

Phantom. Even with Surgical Strike nerfed, the Intel stuff is still quite capable, plus integrated cloak, plus the toughness of LtCmdr eng, plus a good turn rate, plus a powerful trait.

Alternately, just run a T5 ship for now (Mirror Escort Retrofit is cheap and has a nice layout) and wait till the Piloting ships come out with the launch of S10. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a T6 Defiant in there, and you know with Cryptic's power creep mentality it'll have something included to drive sales.

Yeah after the T6 gal pretty much everything is on the table now, god knows what they push out next. The only thing we can count on is the powercreep and seeing what the next [REDACTED] lockbox may contain sure dosen't counter that.

Actually, that Phantom does look nice..

Heavy Phaser Lance, eh? Wasn't too impressed with that on the Gal X... is this one any better? Not that I HAVE to use it...

If you go full pahser it's awesome, not as great as the "phaser shotgun" of the seperated gal-x (or the rom's heavy plasma lance ) but it still wrecks single targets. But if you're not going a full phaser route and swith to AP (or any other type) it quickly becomes more of a wasted console slot. Though it's exploit debuff somewhat remains useful on non-phaser builds.

And the phantom still has it's ungodly trait. If your're actually trying your tac & intel cooldowns are pretty much gone. Thanks to that I can run my Eclipse with nearly 100% uptime on surgical strikes III, lot's of fun.:D

And if it starts to look like I'm heavily biased towards intel stuff then only because I am...:P

Are you LTS? If so you should consider the T5-U Fleet Chimera Destroyer. I'm loving the flexibility, firepower, and survivability of mine. (That being said I do have the Presidio, Eclipse, and Phantom traits on her too.)

Well that did it! I am now the captain of a shiny new Phantom... with a well-trained Int/Tac Boff and can't wait to try it out... had limited time today, did teh Chapel system patrol, looking for a fast fight... scanned four hulks of debris and it was over - not asingle enemy NPC to be had =/

I'm going all phasers a swell... see where that brings me. I have tac cons to boost my phasers but I also use the lvl 15 R&D Plamsa torp so have a Plasma projectile con as well... dangnabbit that's a fun little firecracker!

A LITTLE disappointed with the customization choices but I can deal... now to get fleet gear for it!

By fleet gear, you mean consoles, right? 'Cuz with the available mods on weapons, you're better off crafting your own (or having someone do it for you) IMO.

Consoles, yea... unless I can create a semi-transwarp elite engine and adpative shield set. I'm lvl 15 in all schools and COULD create another Aegis set but I am not 100% that's the best route to go...

    Please, just...don't.

The aegis is in no way cost efficent, stick with either rep or fleet gear for your Phantom.

Personally I like like a mix of the nukara shield & engines and undine deflector & core. And since you're using phasers anyway the turret + uni console are also quite a nice kombo for that type. Add some spire consoles and you're going to wreck ****.
