Why do I have to change all of my options/controls on my newly created characters to match the set-up I have on my main character? It seems dumb that the settings aren't a master setting for the game and are independent per character.
I dont want to have the same controls, options, chat windows on each char, because they are in different fleets, on different ships etc. So its not dumb, its indeed a feature.
And it needs less than a minute to save controls, UI and chat windows and load them on another char. Your friends are chat commands like: /ui_load_file, /ui_save_file, /bind_load_file, /bind_save_file
You still have to go through and set quite a few more things than that. It's always been annoying to go through and create a new character, imho - because of how much time you have to spend setting up some basics that one might prefer from the options.
Having the ability to set each character's controls and UI separately is useful, but there should also be an option to automatically apply the same settings to all characters, without having to manually go through every one.
And when creating a new character, it should copy the settings of the last toon you played instead of starting witha blank default.
Shared character options for characters are always a pest.
The less shared, the better.
Just like server stored options for resolution hotbars etc are pests. Your laptop screen just don't allow you to use the great set up you have on the desktop.
What's worse, some settings are applied account-wide and others per-character, and not only does the game not allow you to choose which mode to use, it doesn't even tell you which one will be used. You'll learn which one it was only when you change toons and the new setting is or isn't set there.
For example, I turned off "Disable mission auto-hail" for my Delta Recruit when doing episode missions. That is apparently one of those account-wide settings, which I noticed when I got spammed with the mission hails on all my toons.
Having separate options is useful to a lot of players, Maybe have a tick box to make options account wide would be good for ppl that use the same option over all their toons?

Go to new toon...
Options -> HUD -> Load UI -> Apply -> OK
After that u need only set Team and Privacy settings
