Wow some great new ships, they look good!!!!! Pity I cannot even play the game because of lag and severs and blah blah hindering any kind of play. Would have been nice to play the new episode......oh well.....
Instead of oh well, why not try to solve your problem? I can't speak for everyone, but I was under the impression the lag and what not had cleared up? I haven't experienced any in the last week or so. If you're still experiencing it, then maybe it's at your end (in which case, it's not Cryptic's fault); the fault instead lies with your ISP.
If there's something else stopping you from playing the game, post it here. You never know, someone might be able to help. Failing that, file a support ticket. Might take some time, but be patient.

Well, give me a run down on the best way to deal with it? And what was wrong with the oh well I added.....it highlighted my deep sadness at missing out on all the great fun this game offers.....now I'm gonna cry..... but seriously I don't think theres too much I can do about the lag and stuff, play other online games just fine really, never had a problem other than with this game....touch wood!!!!!!!
I spotted some occasional minor rubberbanding in Quo'nos and ESD but that was it.
There's been occasional delay and a little rubberbanding sure, but not nearly enough to stop me playing the game (yet seemingly enough for the OP not to be able to play). I can only conclude that he's getting the worst of it.
You certainly don't speak for everyone, the lag from Cryptic servers is pretty bad, even when it's good there are often times it rubber bands or you get a SNR error, DCs are also not uncommon.
Weirdly enough, I knew that - I even managed to state that little fact in my post. Thanks for clarifying though.

And yet every other game I play is absolutely fine, I never see lag in Elite Dangerous, in Elder Scrolls, I never have issues streaming HD movies, I have over 150 Mbps connection. Tracert always hiccups when trying to hop to cogentco. Cryptic have had lag and connection issues for years, it clears up completely and when demand is high during events like the recent anniversary it becomes unplayable for a large part of the population.
It's not our ISPs, usually, it's Cryptic's connections that are poor and they need to sort it out as we have been telling them for years.
Well I live in Asia and I'm connected to the Boston servers... and my lag is a bit more in STO the in some games... and less in some others...
I found out when dealing with WildStar... which during beta had a much better customer service group... that a lot of it has nothing to do with either their servers or with my (or your) ISP.
What quite often happens is that your ISP doesn't work on it's own. To get to where the servers are it goes through any number of other ISPs. Heck when I lived in Arizona... just to get to California... I had servers that were gonig all the way to fraggin Chicago for some reason
So while I know Cryptic has some issues with their servers... what might be happening to explain why some people are having more issues then others... is those mid-point ISPs... even if you trace it... a normal trace may not show anything... but a return trace or other traces may show something.
I'm no expert... but literally to find the problems I was having with WildStar... it took three programs and almost 5 days to discover the issue... and generally it's at multiple points and for multiple compounding issues.
You did notice that the person that posted the video acknowledged (at 3:40) that part of the lag problem was being caused by some ISP's throttling the flow of data between customers and the game.
Yeah because when 5 people from a mix of United States, Canada, and either Australia or Germany all get lag spikes at the same time in the same match that's because of our ISPs, right. Our ISPs have little to nothing to do with this type of lag, the game's ISP might, but most likely it has more to do with a lack of server resources and/or buggy code.

There's a difference between a "lag spike" and "totally unplayable".
I know a lot of people here are drama queens and like nothing more then to exaggerate the DOOM factor... but a lag spike while exceptionally annoying and should be fixed... does not make a game... totally unplayable...

In its sense no. There's really no difference. A lag spike can cause the game to throw your connection off and cause lag for a period, untill it can re-establish a stable connection. If the spikes continue while the connection are unstable already, it will never get better. This is far from its technical terms, but that I rather not get started on.
It's the Cogentco backbone Cryptic are using. The worst company in the world and they thought it would be a good idea using them, because they are cheap.
I can't really see any drama queens, nor any doom posting. Just people rightfully blaming the owners for their cheap solution.
Everyone has to go thru cogentco when playing Cryptic games. And cogentco is usually where the ISP issues show up on traces.
Cogentco is where you go from your ISP to Cryptics ISP. and 9/10 its on their end and there is nothing we the players can do.

I dunno. This doesn't seem fun.
