Just looking through the list of dyson ships, you get 4 ships in total, all with a DHC proton cannon. Has anyone with the whole set, ever taken them all off and put it onto one ship?

They're fixed and cannot be removed... I have put together a Protonic Polaron build however, using a Protonic Polaron DHC, Experimental Proton Weapon, Dyson Grav Torp, Borg Cutting Beam and 2x Protonic Polaron Turrets...
I went with the Dyson Rep Tac consoles with +Cannon to boost the Experimental Proton Weapon and the Proton DHC both...
It worked pretty well and could pump out more than enough DPS to do what it needed, especially when using Grav Well 1 and spamming CSV and TS with the Grav Torp...
that's a shame....wonder if they'll ever elaborate the Proton beam/cannon arsenal. Seems a bit strange to have lots of things to boost and resist proton damage when there's only a c ouple of weapons avail and only 1 being able to be equipped
I have a fleet Avenger which I equiped 4x DHC's up front with a torp and 3x turrets aft which when properly used was quite effective but when trying to face the Vaads I had a lot of trouble trying to get my firing arcs to bare so swapped them out for beam arrays.
But it was fun seeing a Borg cube get stripped and blown apart in quick order!

I get the impression it wasn't very popular... Mine was a very 'niche' build, that I put together simply because I could and because I wanted to do something a little different, by testing if it would actually work... It did what it needed to at the very least, and on a Sci character no less...

^^ I have the same build. I think I went with the Dyson Rep [+Pol] consoles, though (EPW does Protonic dmg anyway, which is also boosted by said consoles).
The Dyson Rep full space set also gives some wicked Proton dmg bursts. You can make a real cute build out of Proton.

I had considered that, but I went with 2 pieces from the Jem'Hadar space set (don't remember exactly now - engine+shield I think) for the extra Polaron damage, as they required only a couple quick episode reruns...
I went with +Cannon as opposed to +Polaron in the end as the Polaron damage difference was only some 10%, and the +Cannon modifier would sufficiently boost the Protonic DHC to more than offset the loss of Polaron damage from the single Protonic Polaron DHC and 2x Turrets...

Anything based on more than one damage type is going to be in the "just for fun" -category, because the tactical console system is deeply biased toward single-type builds.
