Events are pointless for me.

Every time an event is held the game becomes unplayable due to lag and so on. Events are now pointless as I cannot even participate. Read that I have not been alone in this; and I also read that some rarely seem to experience this problem.

If people can't play, they stop playing. And when they stop playing, they stop paying. Cryptic doesn't seem to understand this or care to at least try and attempt to find a resolution to the matter. Lag is a feature of this game. Might as well get used to it, or find something else that's worth your time and dollar.

I also have problems with the game when becomes unplayable due to lag, server not responding, rubber band effect, etc.
When I put report about this, they put the blame on my internet connection and also my computer.
Cryptic does not care for fixing any problems in the game. They even make new ones.

For some odd reason, while being in belgium, I thusfar never encountered lag.

Lag is mostly due to in-between servers failing transmission, perhaps I am blessed with good in-between servers.

Also, I run a somewhat decent line:

from the experience of observation, i doubt cryptic cares that one or two people are upset with the system being like this and that. no matter who it is, it wont change their mind when their metrics show it is "popular".

Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

sure there's the odd bit of lag but its not that bad at the moment and its not necessarily cryptic`s fault, data doesn't come to you down a single cable unless you are connected directly to the server, it goes through many other systems and connections on its way to you and any one of them could be at fault.
my laptop is not the greatest you can buy far from it so if I can do these events then so should most players be able to, unless of course you hardware is seriously out of date but that's down to you to address.
I have some lag issues, but not serious. The reason events are pointless for me is that they require a ridiculous investment of time. I work and I go to school, and I have family commitments, so I can't spend several hours a day, every day, grinding mindlessly.

Between the ridiculous grind and the ridiculous spike in enemy difficulty (mainly in STFs), there's no room in this game for casual play anymore. It's a shame.

geeez what events are you doing?, CC and mirror events takes about 10 minutes a day per character.
anniversary event is only 1 mission and about 10 minutes a day on one character and 1x10 minutes on each other character.
summer and winter events is about 10 minutes a day on 1 character plus 1x10 minutes on each other character.

if you cant spair that much time I would not bother playing on line games at all if I was you.

as for weekend events I just do my normal stuff and if I get any bonuses as a result that's cool.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

This is why these 'occasional' events imho are not good for the health of the game in the long term. Why oh why did they eliminate the hourly events this game had? Everyone could play the event on their own terms when it was convenient for them. I know, I know...it is all about the metrics. They could still have the seasonal events and the special releases to pad their metrics without resorting to using the mini-events we all enjoyed at one time.

Yeah the hourly queues were awesome. Actually made more friends in game that way. Easy to find people on the same schedule as you. Even that silly SFA hourly was fun. "Welcome to Star Fleet Academy.. Oh TRIBBLE, Klingons!"

It'd be nice if events with a one time get it now or never item would decouple the item from the dil payout so it could be purchased separately once unlocked by getting the dil payout.

That way multiple captains wouldn't have to run the event 14 times each if you just wanted the item and you wouldn't have "alts" claiming the dil payout for one token.

except most of the good events always seemed to be at 2am or 3am or had just finished five minutes before I logged in, so how many times did I benefit from hourly events maybe once or twice, how many times do I benefit from weekend events well every weekend they have one actually.

Count me in as one of those who never saw the draw of hourlies as I was always either working, sleeping, or in the middle of something else whenever a good one came up.

Weekend ones I can plan around.

Erm..... no. European prime time is fine. It's when the US players (and probably the devs get on) that's when the game grinds to halt. Both STO and NW. (I suspect their servers are not .... meaty enough lol.)
Fortunately I'm usually long done my dailes by that time.

ok I work days and nights so often play in multiple time frames sometimes 6pm till 10pm sometimes as late as 2am and sometimes 6am to 9am and sometimes any time between 9am till 5pm.
I cant say I have noticed any differences in any of these time frames.

about the only time I can say lag was really bad was when they very first started the anniversary event and even then it was only on certain maps and they cleared it up pretty quick anyway.
