I am a lifetime subscriber and actually own the deluxe version of the game. I have been playing STO since the first day of the beta.
While I enjoy playing the game I am also a bit frustrated because I spent $60 for the game and another $199 for the lifetime subscription prior to the game ever even being thought of as going free to play. While monthly zen you give us is a small bonus for actually paying for the game I also find it a bit insulting that free players and paid players can only refine 8000 dilithium daily. I currently have 180000 unrefined dilithium and after I finish the crystalline entity event I will have another 50000 unrefined. While I am grateful that dilithium is easier to get now I would think that those who actually paid for the game and lifetime subscription would have some sort of benefit in the game such as being able to refine a couple thousand more dilithium a day. The other move you made which angers a lot of lifetime subscribers who have been here since the beginning is the fact that STO now automatically gives all the veterans rewards to someone for paying for the game. I paid for the game and the subscription but I still had to put in my 1000 days of online time to get my rewards. We view this as a direct insult since we paid just as much as they did yet they get everything handed to them and we had to be online for 1000 days.
I guess what I am trying to say is I think it would be nice for Perfect World and Cryptic to show appreciation for those who where here first and actually had to invest the time and money into the game with a simple reward for us. Even something as simple as being able to refine 10000 dilithium a day while free to play only get 8000 would be appreciated. I mean it would be nice for them to give us something more then 500 zen a month. You can't hardly afford anything worth while from the zen store with 500 zen.
rofl I found my hard copy of the game a couple months back (thought it had gone in the garbage actually) but that was long ago and other then a few extra zen I dont know what else they could do really.. maybe a t-shirt or something
Their lifetime sub deal is not great but I have it anyhow I dont think though that original players of this game have spent any more or less then some of the players who fork over hundreds in a few short months as "free" players .
RCE 2010 here. we already have red matter an our other cool swag like the connie, ect. but yea maybe a skin or something would be cool.

Lifers and people who've played since Beta should get a new ability, Micro Ship!
Inspired by the old bug that would spawn your ship instead of your character on ground maps, this ability would let you use your ship on all maps, trivializing the game's worst aspect, ground combat.
Instead of crouching and aiming, fire a beam overload for an instant vaporize. Large group of enemies ahead? Hit torp spread and watch the bodies hit the floor.
... hey i can dream right? And that one episode of DS9 makes it canon, the one where the runabout shrinks.
EDIT: fixed an auto correct fail

I'd second this. Especially with those pesky insta respawning Vaadwaur on Kobali Prime.
As Zephram Cochrane once said, "That'll do, pig. That'll do." - April 1st 2015.
Tad late for this rant. I remember ranting about thinking I was getting a new LTS perk, but it was for stuff that I already had.
What Cryptic needs to add is a Loyalty store since there is no point for having any Veteran Rewards past 1000 days. Have it set up so that 3 Loyalty Tokens are given for each month subscribed and 1 Loyalty Token for every 500 Zen transferred to STO.

Was this post stuck in a forum transporter loop from over 5-years ago?
At this point the LTS is a novelty rather than entitlement.
But to throw in my two tribbles, as a notion, Cryptic could back-in all the pre-F2P promotions/currency conversion odds and ends. Revamp the Captains Table.

Make it somewhat amusing for new LTS purchasers.
I just got an actual, serious idea. They could add vendors to the captains table that sell lobi, lockbox, rep, and mkxiv epics for a comparably small amount of dilithium. Stock would be randomized at 1am PST, and all items would be BoA.

Cryptic doesn't care about subscribers. It is the only reason to explain why the subscription sucks compared to other MMOs. SWTOR tries to force its players to subscribe while STO tries to force it players to go F2P. The only reason why we have subscription and not have the game completely F2P is due to the Lifetime Subscription that has existed since before the game was released.
They even nerfed the lifetimer advantage some times ago.
You could refine 2k dilithium for 48h using the veteran dilithium officer in academy.
But now it's 1k dil for 48h. The decrease in amount was unoticed because few pple use it but it shows again the fact cryptic is more interested in f2p players that put $$- ingame to buy zen.

agree. that's why there is no subscription option for NeverWinter. full f2p with zen store

But what would the prices be? 500Z for 10 Lobi? :P

Lol, i left out a word, meant items from those things, they would still be "rare" cause it would be completely random what's available, and only a small percentage of players are lifers. And if ships would still be a no no in that situation, the other lockbox and lobi stuff would still be nice, with the mkxivs being the real attraction.
I'm thinking no more than 5 items available per day.

Would have to implement a Character Bind on Pickup or Account Bind on Pickup since it would be too easy to abuse otherwise.
Personally, I just don't see it happening since Cryptic would lose too much money from it.
I currently have 180000 unrefined dilithium and after I finish the crystalline entity event I will have another 50000 unrefined.
I still find it funny, that no matter how easy folks tell Cryptic it is to make unrefined Dilithium - that Cryptic simply keeps adding more and more ways to make it even faster, eh?
I wish I could AFFORD a LTS! You guys are so lucky - I'll never have Liberated Borg!
You can make a pseudo-Liberated Borg. Just have to go with a female Starfleet Officer or female Federation-aligned Romulan Officer and get the Seven of Nine costume. Most of my bridge officer crew has been borgified with that costume. If you want to go with Borg skin, then you have to create a female Alien and go with Infected skin.
I gave my LTS fee to ATARI back in 2010, therefore, PWE doesn't owe me a thing.
(I actually bought 5 different versions of the game)
Wouldn't mind if They actually made The Captain's Table worth the bother though.

Making it into a Fleet Starbase for people that don't belong to a Fleet would be a start. Obviously, Fleet equipment would not be available, but adding a duty officer requisition contact and transwarp to Captain's Table power that works just like the Fleet Starbase Transwarp power would help.
I bought not one, not two, not three, but four copies of STO because I wanted the "exclusive" pre-order items (advertised as exclusive to pre-orders, then put in the C-Store: F you too, Cryptic).
I've also been playing since Beta.
I also spent 3 years as a subscriber (meaning I spent somewhat more money than many lifers).
And all I want is one of two things:
1) Cryptic lets this game die so that Star Trek: Online can be reborn by a developer that will do justice to the franchise and who do not show their incompetence with every single thing they add or change.
or, failing that...
2) They just fix the damned game and all of the bugs and problems in it (including things like the Cryptic-caused power creep that they'll never address because it all comes from the OP ships they sell in the C-Store).
When does it end with some (not all, but some) lifers demanding more and more free stuff?

I feel your frustration, over the years (I know my "join date says Oct 2014 but I still don't know why other than I used to never post.) there have been many times I thought the bugs would never end and I wanted to log off for good. But even with that said I don't want this game to end. Let's face it, given the current state of the "monetized"and "instant gratification" game industry do you really think another company would make a better game (mmo or singleplayer) from scratch anytime within the next ten years? And which company would do it? Indie developers or small but dedicated developers (like Larian) couldn't afford the IP, EA/Bioware use just as many microtransactions in SWTOR, Blizzard has enough on its plate, and don't get me started on Ubisoft's business model. We all could name even more companies but the story would be the same.
Further, knowing the current luck of Star Trek fans it would be a JJ-Verse game where you had to pay a fee for every hypo (Probably an exaggeration but then again we all know the story about the EA exec who wanted to micro charge for bullets.) I'm sorry to rant, but I've just seen so many people saying this recently and talking like a mysterious white knight devolper could just sweep in. That developer dosen't exist. At least not on the scale to take on an IP this big. I do think people should question Cryptic/PWE and keep calling them out to fix problems until they are fixed, but abandoning the game or for wishing its demise so it can be replaced won't get us anywhere. After all since its F2P it costs nothing as long as we don't buy the new toys. End Rant.:o
