I would buy every ship if they sold for $7 dollars a piece
Well the people who I am talking about would still not be interested in a cheeper ship because there doing the content with the ship they have
but I think they would upgrade that ships capabilitys that they like if it was available
If I like the looks of the Nebula science ship and want the Vestas stats on it but didn't like the looks of the vesta...I would spend some cash to upgrade my Nebula
Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng
JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse
As far as STO having a sub, STOs sub doesn't come within firing distance of SWTORs value in terms of sub. But consequently, neither did SWTORs f2p come any where near to STOs free. Seems to be working for SWTOR though, so no biggie.
I'd rather play a game where everyone pays something into the game regardless and have the entirety of the game be accessible without some kind of horrific grind.

OH yeah, and PvP isn't dead in SWTOR. Subs also produce balance. Cheers

This has been requested a lot... I know I'd love that and I'd actually be willing to toss money at it.
personal I believe cryptics ship sales are low on the average..
This is the very first line in the thread and unfortunately it renders the entire rest of the discussion moot.
It seems pretty clear that ship sales are at an all time high. If not, then it has to be one of the highest points, they are selling ships like crazy.
Next time you're flying around, keep an eye on how many Command and even Intel ships you see compared to free ships. The only free ship that I see in mass is the Samsar. The Breen Carrier fell out of favor quickly due to the fact that carriers are inefficient, and the Kobali Samsar is pretty much the only 'freebee' left standing.
The T6 Command Ships are selling like crazy, I'm not sure why you believe their sales are low.
Pure speculation. If we believe that DR was the best release in terms of monetary success and the Command Cruisers were the 2nd best selling ships, then it seems ships are indeed selling. I do think these claims are in fact the truth, as I see plenty of new ships flying around.
Anyway, every one of your suggestions exist in game. Want more mobility? Buy the Momentum trait. Want more sci damage? Get the Particle Manipulator trait. Want better survivability, get a better shield or run doffed A2D. It can all be obtained, all one has to do is look. But casuals can't be bothered with that...
Oh and you can get the deflector blast by using the MACO space set. The only actual complaint you may get any traction on is the lack off the K'vort.
Unless your KDF or Romulan then you're out of luck for the science stuff.
I don't know if the K'vort is even ON the list of ships being considered due to one detail: Its a supersized B'rel. Literally just a repurpose of the B'rel model, sized up and locking the wings in the horizontal position. Unless they redesigned it to be less of an oversized B'rel, which would cause some rage from the diehard KDF players most likely, I don't see them doing a copy/paste of the B'rel into a cruiser variant.
The Galaxy "Deflector Shot" may not be in game as a Galaxy ability, but its entirely possible that a close analog is actually the MACO set's Heavy Graviton Beam, which originates from the Main Deflector of the ship firing it.
As a star trek fan I'm pretty disappointed by the lack of a k'vort class even if it's just an oversized bird of prey. They could easily upscale the model and add more windows and change a few minor details and make this ship a reality. They could also come up with a new futuristic skin of their own for it. But I unfortunately agree with you... will probably never see it in game because it looks like a b'rel and because kdf ships don't sell as well.
overpriced ships and ship bundles. If it was 10 or 7 dollars a ship id be tempted ..at the current prices its a complete ripoff....at the moment. Plus most of the ships you buy are effectively money for a ship trait.... its a bit pay to win for now... even if PVP is pretty dead. Hoping for better times lol but dont bet on it.
Except that the game does cost money to operate, and how else are they going to get that money than by selling things to the players? Reducing the prices of C-Store ships to one-third of what they were on sale just a couple weeks ago.... is extremely drastic and would probably break that budget.
In effect, the game itself is the product they are selling, not just the ship.
And the $ figures you are throwing out are flawed, too. Between EC purchases and dilithium conversion (both of which I am aware are ultimately other players' Zen) it's actually possible to get anything in this game for free (aside from the handful of subscriber-only items; which I believe mainly include one special BOFF, two ships, and two playable races)... but even by a hybrid approach and taking advantage of sales... I have a Fleet Defiant T5U that only cost me $14 and 15 million EC. (Zen bought on +15% sale, ship bought on -20% sale, fleet module and upgrade token bought for 7.5 mil EC each). Somone converting dilithium could instead have picked up the Zen I used (1600) by converting about 40 character-days worth of dilithium.
I can see where you may have misunderstood what I was saying, because in my first paragraph, I misspelled Dil. However, what my last sentence in that paragraph was meant to say "I admit that STO does let you buy C-Store items with Dil by converting it into Zen"
Sorry about confusing you like that. I know that you can buy anything in the C-Store with Dil.
And with the lower prices, it will encourage more players to buy ships they would never have bought. Think about the ones that buy ships during the sales they have now. Many of them may not have thought of buying even one ships. But it was on sale.
Now, think about it if all of the ships were at a much more affordable level for many, many more players. They would sell a lot more.
I do know that the game itself cost money to run. I also know that they (the ones in charge) will try to make money out of everything they can. Look at the Boff revamp. It was turned into another Dil sink, when it wasn't before.
The crafting and upgrade systems are huge Dil sinks, and a gamble on top of that.
All I am saying is that if they are more player friendly with their pricing, they will make a lot more in sells.
While it is also true that many play for the content in the game, after level 50, that content is just the same thing all the time. For this reason, players need something else to focus on, or the Uber-Grind that DR became will burn out a lot of players. So, more affordable pricing on the ships will help some.
Also, there are a lot of players that want to chase after the DPS, because that is what the game is being redesigned for. So, making ships that they come out with more affordable will make it easier for more players to join the DPS race.
They can still make a lot of money. They will just not get huge chunks of money from few whales. It will be many more purchases that has the potential of making more, and having a higher sustained income from the much smaller number of players in the game on average now.

This is true. Had to grab a Recluse for one of my KDF toons. I deleted my Romulan sci out of sheer despair...
But hey, it's the metrics.

Fact of the matter is if you have time, grind. If you have money, spend.
remember every zen you get from dil is comes from someone who bought that zen with real money.
and every dil you get was ground in game by a fellow player.
The fact that there is a relatively stable dil to zen market means that there are enough spenders and grinders to keep the game going.
So ships are priced at a rate where cryptic isnt pressed to decrese ship sales across the board.
And remember everything is optional, tgere is no ingame reward for being a member of the dps 50k channel!
Lol
