Anyone else having issues with this instance? We will kill it and no rewards at all. Other times the Entity will be at 70+% and the instance will close out with half rewards so on and so forth.
see, the map resets... and doesn't terminate when it's done... especially as a fail... so new people are allowed to enter the map after its failed, preventing it from being completely shut down for a new map.
From my experience you can tell if it's bugged or ok by looking at your mission description on the right. If the objectives are there i.e. "destroy the crystalline entity", you can stay, because it's normal. If you don't have the objectives you're in a bugged instance/scenario, so warp out because even if you end up destroying the entity it's like you aren't really there and you won't get any reward.
This must be why some of my Alts have a 1 or two less shards then the others. I was wondering if I smehow skipped over them. but this explains it.
Either way I wish this event lasted longer. At least long enough to get the rewards twice, I still had an old event qued up that I was never able to finish. At least this year my main will get the Mariah Kilara Marr Gravimetric Scientist Duty Officer. But I wont be able to get the Torpedo. Not that it matters much to me. I like to stick with Romulan Plasma on my Romulan. And I expect the new Torpedo will be Nerfed not longer after it's released.
General Rule of thumb, if you find something that works, it will be Nerfed.
Expect the worst, and you will never be surprised.
Finally decided to make a sig.
I see allot of them with a character, and ship.
though I'm not sure which ship to put on there...
I'll think about it. This will do for now.

I guess I've been lucky - no issues each time I've played it so far.
I have noticed, however, it's been weakened down... got caught in the shockwave in my Scim the other day, usually this means instadeath... this time, even in advanced, hull was good at 66%
After the patch yesterday, I entered an advanced queue for the CE, and the mission objectives appeared so I figured that the mission was OK this time. But when the CE got to about 40% health, the options for which Marks rewards we wanted came up, but the mission didn't complete, and we weren't given the shard as a reward. The 30-minute cooldown timer also started.
So whereas previously it was possible to tell if the mission was bugged by checking that the objectives appeared when we entered the instance, this time it appeared to be working, but bugged out and gave us half the rewards when the CE got to about 40% health.

Sounds like how the advanced queues I've played run. You fail the optional it's an instant fail of the mission and you get reduced awards accordingly. If it was at 40% my guess was more than 3 players go blown up during the CE's 66% health death spam.

You get an extra week, plus whatever extra time you had in the previous events.
It's nice of Cryptic to let you finish a project from last year's event using this year's event. That seems generous to me rather than a nerf.

does that make sense?
In Normal, you can't fail. You'll get your daily shard 100% of the time.
In Advanced, you can fail. Then the server adds new players to the failed instance. It's already failed, so they can't win. NO SHARD FOR YOU!
So, if you pug, play normal, get your shard, be happy.
