I've been thinking about this mysterious benefactor mentioned in the Delta Recruitment announcement and started thinking about different characters from the franchise who have been involved in time travel. We've already been assisted once by
Captain Walker of the 29th Century Starship USS Pastak, so it's possible that he and the people of his time could be the benefactors. However I also think that Cryptic would want to do something special for this update and would most likely bring in a real character from the series. What if this person is
Daniels?
His Memory-Alpha page is linked to his name, but the short version is that he is a temporal agent from the 31st century. During the temporal cold war, he assisted Captain Archer in the 22nd century and made sure the United Federation of Planet came into existence as it should. He would be a perfect candidate to bring into the show and it would be great if they brought in Matt Winston to voice him. They recently brought in Kim Rhodes to voice Jhet'leya, so I can see them bringing in another "smaller" character to the series. Especially since Winston had an even bigger role than Rhodes' character who only appeared once.
As great as Daniels would be, the "mysterious" part of this character's description makes it slightly more difficult. We obviously already know who Daniels is, (although newcomers might not), but from an in-universe perspective, people probably have a general idea of who he is. If the player doesn't, I'm sure someone like Franklin Drake has an idea of who he is. So who else could be from Star Trek canon, but also be "mysterious"? Sticking with Star Trek: Enterprise, there is always the possibility that the mysterious benefactor is
Future Guy.
I call him Future Guy because his identity was never given. I'm aware of what the producers have said about his identity, but since this never came to fruition, his identity still remains unidentified within canon and Cryptic can probably do whatever they want with him. He's certainly mysterious and from the future. While he has been a pain in Starfleet Officer's sides for a long time, he still seemed interested in helping them out when he could. He did not want the Xindi to destroy Earth and prevent the Federation from forming for example.
Future Guy would make for a pretty great character to add to the game. I know a lot of people didn't really care for the temporal cold war story on Enterprise, but the part that bugged me the most was the fact that they didn't answer all the questions when they finally wrapped up the arc. However it now gives Cryptic plenty of room to go back and take a look at the character. If he is this character instead of Daniels, (although they could also do both), it would be great if they could bring in James Horan to voice the character. He's got a great voice who really brings that character to life.
So what do you think? Is it Daniels, Future Guy or someone completely different?

or
They could of gone with Jay Karnes who did Ducane, who took over after arresting Braxton for his temporal crimes. if Jay Karnes isnt too busy, he could also be this face.
there is no way to know for sure one way or the other. when it comes, it comes.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Mustrum "Most likely not" Ridcully
So after training your future self in temporal stuff, the time ops sent him/her back in time to train a red shirt that would have the goal of giving your past self enough bonuses to face the Iconians.
That or super buff, shaped like a Gorn, future Neelix. Or the Epohn lady.
Future Guy was given a name in the Watching the Clock novel, Jamran Harnoth. Essentially, he was a part Suliban, Romulan, and Tandarans which showed up in only two episodes of Enterprise. So part of his motivation was to ensure that he existed throughout his temporal interference. Of course, this is all soft canon and has no relevance to STO.
The Sisko... is eternally... BEN-efitted.
They could bring in more than one VA. We have no idea who that actor is supposed to play.
Before they announced Liam McIntyre Geko teased on his twitter account:
The Delta Recruitment blog states:
It all comes down to what Geko ment by "new." New as in a previous actor from one of the shows who hasn't appeared in STO before, or new as in new to Star Trek period. So both could be about McIntyre or we could be getting McIntyre and another Star Trek actor. And if it's both than the Star Trek actor would most likely be reprising a character who would still be alive post-2410.
Also of note IMDB now credits Liam McIntyre as voicing Subcommander Kail (who doesn't exist in game yet) AND Chancellor J'mpok. O_O

That could simply mean Starfleet no longer exists in the 31st century, and has been replaced by something else.

Daniels is listed as a Temporal Agent. Not officer. Probably means he's a member of the 31st Century incarnation of the Department of Temporal Investigations.
Basically Time FBI. Not Starfleet.

When did they announce this?
Douglas MacArthur - Quote on the dedication plaque of the U.S.S. Ranger NCC-97332-A Armitage class Fleet Heavy Strike Wing Escort.
I'd love it to be Braxton. Bruce McGill has long been one of my favourite actors and he's got a great voice for VA work.
Despite those predictions, if it IS a Captain we've seen in the shows, who could it be? They are all from the past. The easiest to make a plausible story as to how they were in the Future would be:
Data - He's MIA (sort of), and more importantly, an Android so doesn't age.
Sisco - He's The Sisco. Nuff said.
Archer - Apparently the producers of Enterprise were going to make him Future Guy anyways so...
Everyone else is present or accounted for and either Old already or Dead.
The on-screen Captain I'd like to see most? Where's Sulu???
Oooh myyyyy.....
