Useless Memorial but No Security Officer

colonelchenchuancolonelchenchuan Member Posts: 0 Arc User
They found time to install a useless memorial on Faux Romulas but after a year still cant find the time to add a Security Officer to the Planet or Command Center. We can pay our respects but cant covert contraband unless we go to alien bases in distant star systems.

Maybe one of the people in the memorial team can 5 minutes out of the hectic memorial development and plop a freaking sec officer down

The republic allows for the use of Thalaron weapons, and you think they would care about regular contraband? Really?
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

That's still not a reason why they wouldn't purchase Contraband from Ship Captains.

What they do with it after they purchase it, well.. that's up for debate. The Romulan Embassy should still have someone that purchases Contraband. It's silly making Romulan Players go to ESD, SB39 or DS9 to turn it in.

It would be a nice and helpful addition to the game.

I am going to assume that based on your attitude about Tovan from your other thread, you're someone who hates the entire Romulan storyline, hence the whole Faux Romulus remark.

The memorial to Spock was created for New Romulus primarily because the Romulan Republic is made up of people who believed in the Reunification movement. D'Tan is Praetor to this new Romulan power and who do you think D'Tan respected? Who was D'Tan's mentor in the reunification movement?

It was Spock. Therefore, it's only fitting that his statue was added to New Romulus. Remember that the devs did take time out of developing future content to work on this memorial. People like the tribute, so it's not useless.

I say if you want a security officer in New Romulus Command, by all means let the devs know. Just don't get angry because they added something in for a great man who left this earth just recently instead of adding in an officer that is already in 3 locations that Romulan players can access.

They do purchase Contraband from ship captains. Just find a vendor and sell it. Of course, since its not illegal there, the price is appropriately lower, or 1,000 EC per unit. :D

You just managed to reduce practically every post you make about the Republic to a footnote in my eyes.

It's a game... if you don't like the story, just go around it.

Without the people mentioned in the so called "Useless Memorial", there would be no STO for you to complain about.

It's a frakkin' MMO! Not your personal domain where hordes of servants await your every whim. Deal with it!

the point is they can find time to deal with a pointless fluff item but cant fix something that actually effects our game and has been mentioned since BETA. I could my entire life without looking at that memorial but daily have to go out of my way every 4 hours to convert contraband.

    Two things. . .

    1, disrespectful much. . .

2, coding is different to artwork. . And this isn't a major issue just use the other 4 in the game

Tal Shiar used to be subtle, but since they got trashed by one single republic agent, they greatly lost their cool and their power, and are now reduced to complain about a statue of Spock.

Yeah, because transwarping to ESD/Qo'nos takes 2 clicks too many...

And I highly doubt this remark will win you many supporters... Either you are indeed merely trolling, or you lack the most basic of common sense not to make such a remark in the first place...

Setting aside any trolling or comments about the memorial, one thing must be considered: the "feature" of not having a contraband turn-in officer is intentional. Was brought up so many times after LoR release, then also at 1 year of LoR celebration, then again at ESD revamp. Everytime was ignored, thus is safe to assume it is indeed intentional. Wich is sad, since its among one the (many) things that makes the romulans feel like a half faction :(

    ..

    because

    1) I have no desire to be on Alien homeworlds, I'm not Klingon or Human. I shouldn't have to go to Qonos ever for anything.

    2) Believe it or not its really inconvenient. So I do the warp. Now I am sectors away from where I need/want to be. Oh an now I have a cool down so Im supposed to either travel across sector space to get back to where I need to be or sit around some alien planet for 15 minutes. I have to make a special trip at least twice a day for the sole purpose of talking to an officer that should available for my faction.

    *licks cheesy goodness from fingers*

    *eyes the softball coming in*

But you aren't a faction. Romulans are a bunch of granola-munching-tree-hugging-hippy-space-elves. The role of the species that used to make up the Romulan Empire is to now serve the whims of the true powers in the galaxy.

Dang-it got cheesy goop on my keyboard. *snaps fingers to summon romulan servant* Clean this!

The question of faction seems to be different in people's eyes. In my opinion, if a faction has a unique storyline, own hub, own ships, and unique options for customization, then a faction/

Assuming your fleet has it unlocked, you can transwarp to your fleet starbase to use him.... it will activate the cooldown, but "return to sector" will put you back where you were before.

but why should we have to do that?

why isn't there one at the Romulan base. Even small bases like Granalda get one... but not the flotilla or command center

    because

So you're demanding Cryptic accommodate your immutable craving for RP? Good luck with that...

Or you could use free episode transwarps to jump straight back to Tau Dewa... Little lateral thinking really does come in handy...

But I guess it's easier for you to demand Cryptic bend to your whims, rather than use the existing mechanics to their full...

I'm pretty sure it's been already stated that no contraband hand-ins on New Romulus was intentional, in order to encourage people to use ESD and Qo'nos, since they're the intended primary hubs...

Personally, I don't think it makes much difference... But at the same time I don't consider it such an issue as to attack Cryptic over their very charitable efforts to recognise an integral actor within Star Trek...

its not just "my" whim.... people have been complaining since Beta. They added a Vet Dilith exchange but no sec officer.

But I guess if we followed your lead we'd still have no officer trainer because we should just accept what ever crumbs they choose to throw us.

Now that several of the devs are gone, its a real good time to fix some outstanding QoL issues and maybe not make romulans TRIBBLE children.

I never said I specifically disagree with you... Your tact however, by attacking Cryptic over their choice to create memorials, was remarkably lacking...

Your arguments in response to suggestions have also been completely asinine and smacked of someone unwilling to even consider alternatives, seemingly from a pure RP perspective what's more...

Do I agree with the notion of contraband hand-ins on New Romulus, yes... Do I agree with how you chose to make this 'request', far from it...

If anything, your approach could give Cryptic reason to do the exact opposite of what you'd want, out of sheer spite, if they were considering you alone...

OP if you don't like how the game is quit. I doubt anyone will miss you. Also as far as Leonard Nimoy being honored in the game in several places it is a great thing the Dev's did. If you don't like that they took a little bit of time to do it all I can say is quit the game it's doubtful anybody will miss you.

If I come across as aggressive, I apologise as it is not my intent.

By your own words... you're basically saying that creating a memorial for a Star Trek icon who passed away is a "pointless waste of time because it's not a DOff assignment contact to get Dilithium"

The memorial is to honor someone who passed away. While I feel that the option to turn in contraband at New Romulus Command would be a nice QoL thing, its not something to getbent out of shape on and blast a memorial for.

You want a more "neutral" location for Contraband? DS9 is in Beta Ursae.
