Game Unplayable.

The past week the game has been completely unplayable.

Epic lag, rubberbanding and framerate drops to near zero.

People who run STO fine at max settings having the same problems on minimum settings.

It's abundantly clear by now that this is on Cryptic to fix it and return the game to playability.

If people cannot play, they don't play. paying customers leave.

Fix it cryptic, its been a week already.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

It's been this way since the start of the Anniversary. It's a problem with Cryptic's ISP Cogent.

The only thing Cryptic can do is tell Cogent to get their act together.

It's been kind of odd for me in the past week, compared to what it was like since the Anniversary up until that last maintenance. Prior to the maintenance, everything pretty much sucked. Since the maintenance, the only thing that's sucked has been ISA. I can bounce around anywhere else and it's been pretty smooth...trippy, don't want to jinx it or anything. ISA on the other hand...has been worse than anything I've ever experienced in STO. A CCA with players, pets out the wahzoo, NPCs, and everything being spammed left, right, and center just cruises along...ISA...tend to rubberband even on the warp in before anybody's done anything and it just goes downhill from there.

Kind of reminds me of how I joked in an early complaint thread after the Anniversary how things were smooth on Qo'noS compared to elsewhere...then bam, Qo'noS went to TRIBBLE too...as if they shifted resources.

I'm wondering if they're shifting resources for the upcoming Crystalline event...

That's what they always say but tracing my route shows my connection does not even touch Cogent.

I still have the same problems as everyone.

the problem lies in an isp packet just before it reaches cryptic.

This may not matter to some, and, heck, may not matter to any - including Cryptic.

But I swear - I'm not giving this game a single cent more until there are substantial improvements in the performance. Not a single cent.

its been the same for me, no lagging or other problems anywhere since last patch except ISA

So we're also supposed to assume that now that the Event is over and the stability has improved that it was just a coincidence as well?

There may have been some issues with their ISP Company but not all of the blame can be laid at the feet of Cogent. Cryptic tends to ignore the Event portions of this game when it comes to bug fixes and making sure theyre still working properly with every patch or update. And the result is these Events going live and the code not agreeing with the recent changes. The system tends to get bogged down so you end up with an Event that is buggy, laggy and broken for a week or two or sometimes the entire length of its duration. And once it becomes inactive Cryptic forgets about it until the next time the Event rolls around and the cycle repeats.

Quality issues as far as connectivity and game crashes are concerned are around for weeks now.

The way the publisher an the developer interacts with the player base on the matters speaks for itself.

I have been experiencing a few CTD and disconnect issues since the patch last week, but otherwise, my latency has been good since a few days after the anniversary...

I'm curious, the people still experiencing latency issues, have they tried setting up the US or EU proxies?

Being from Australia, I (and a few friends who play) find STO is unplayable without the proxy, so I have to wonder if people have tried this to address the lag issues?
The entitlement is strong in these forums...
