So a little off topic: I had written a somewhat lengthy OP. Then I got distracted by IRL, upgraded firefox with a new addon and stupidly restarted the browser. Lost everything! That just hurts my feelings. Go ahead and laugh at my misfortune. So, here's the gist of it, whatever I could remember.

Disclaimer: before you continue with your reading, you should be aware that I'm no fanboi of cryptic and I have not been paid off. :P So yeah, there has been a lot of quality of life improvements in this game, I mean a LOT. If cryptic keeps it up, soon enough my signature's sarcasm is going to be endangered.

Bridge officers

I can't praise the boff revamp enough. I simply can't find any faults with the new features. Training manuals? Who got that bright idea? I'm sure someone deserves a raise for that one, direct ascension to system designer of STO game mechanics. Manuals can be traded on the exchange (they have their own categories!!!), crafted in RnD, obtained from boff candidates, and the kicker regular boffs can become specialized!!!! The best part yet is how we can switch between builds within seconds now. That's insane and almost orgasmic. WTH Give that dude a raise damn it! Now, I can give boffs more reasonable names instead of relying on weird acronyms to keep track of abilities they're carrying. This gives me the opportunity to focus more on making my boffs more personable with uniforms and such things. Yay points for immersion.

Foundry

I'm feeling spoiled by the new foundry additions and I like that. I can approach any random systems and foundry missions dealing with that specific system appear along with the information of how long they last. Yeah, wow... GG! Kind of feels like you've added exploration back in the game. Yep!

Good rewards everywhere

So let me get this straight, you're telling me I can play whatever, wherever and however I want, I get rewarded in reasonable amounts of dilithium and XP. Oy, did you just kill grind in STO? I don't think I can wrap my head around this new situation man. I just can't dude, but I know deep down this is can only go to good places man.

Select all option

Speaks for itself. Anyone in a fleet knows why this is a huge load off. Yes, you don't have to check mark every single boff to contribute to fleet projects. Yes, there is a select all option. ******n it cryptic what took you so long???

I can't speak for others, but all in all, I'm pretty happy with all of this. NOW PLEASE DO PVP. Make it so lol.

I'm pretty happy with the rewards revamp myself. Now I don't feel like I have to join everyone at Argala. I'm actually getting decent XP even at the Voth Battlezone and in STFs. And the Select All option is a bonus for sure. Clicking them one at a time was slow.

The new BOff system makes BOffs more flexible. But for someone like me who's already got several for different ships... its gonna be a while before I get certain BOffs fully trained in other abilities.

don't forget the sector space revamp...from what i have seen so far, it looks great. They could have increased distances between star systems in my opinion. I get the feeling that traveling from one corner of the beta quadrant to the other should take no less than 30 minutes even at high warp (warp 14-15). After all you have the instant warps to certain parts anyway.

lets just hope the skilltree revamp will be in the same spirit and that BOFF trait select menu is on the table. It just doesn't feel right to have an crew of romulans just because they are better at everything.

another thing I'm still missing is fully customizable starship apperances. Similar to the tailor.
I don't want to use an inferior shield just because it looks good...why can't i have both? There is no reason not to!

I have to say that I do think things are going in the right direction.

For instance last night I was bumbling along, levelling my KDF Sci toon, in and out of missions (I'm also glad to be out of the Argala cycle) when I realised I'd maxed out my daily dil! Now admittedly some of that came from Doff missions that had completed that day, and I cant remember if you get more when you complete a mission that's in the FE story progression, but its nice to have a steady stream of dil as you progress through missions.

I like the Boff system as well. My only major concern is that the load outs be fixed. I had the "errant Boff Syndrome" 3 times last night. Oh and I still have UI lag.

All said and done I like the way things are moving.

They were good for PvP as well which lately was popping without problems.

Until the CE torpedo came through and killed it again. It's a sport to kill PvP.

BoFF system is ok, but it'll better when I can jump into the game and still have my BoFF's in place...

They still go AWOL randomly :(

    BCW.

    Same.

My only complaints at moment are purely technical (like why I've been rubberbanding since the start of the anniversary event) and their handling of the store items/ship progressions.

The majority of systems changes are long overdue and I'm glad they are finally looking at correct core systemic issues like the BOFF system reasonably successfully.

As far as other core systems go i'm still not sold on the upgrade and R&D system, but considering everytime I've tried to use the Upgrade system on a rare or named object it's 'reset' it to a base one or stripped properties from it? I accept my perspective there is probably tainted by afore mentioned technical issues.

Overall, game is improving, just desperately needs better QA\QC\UX.

Yes, I am loving the changes so far! The 30 minute cooldown on patrol missions bothers me none, just fly to another system and play on. That and the steady stream of dilithium is good as well.

I also like where this is going so far. The UI lag and BOFF's unseating is still a pain, but so far this is looking much better than before. +1 for Cryptic.

Honestly, while the game was a bit shaky following the Delta Expansion last year, everything I've seen since the start of this year has been one gem after another. The new head guy seems to be doing an amazing job.
