pvp damage/pvp res does anyone want to see these in crafting

so when I make a weapon for a friend its a random roll. and for me, and it seems for everyone I talk to, pvp damage and pvp res are considered junk. turns a green weapon white, blue to green, and purple to blue (one less useful proc in pve). is this a common opinion or does anyone actually regularly want to see these pop up?

Anything other than CrtDx3 or CrtDx2Pen is mostly a waste. When they added the crafting system they should have rebalanced the existing mods instead of adding a half dozen new ones that nobody wants.

ill agree to that. im actually scared to craft mk xi stuff because of the chance for pvp damage/pvp res.

No, no one wants PVP Dmg, PVP Res, Thrust.

Last I'd heard, Snare was also bugged to snare you instead of the target.

Those mods a waste in PvP, too.

    They're good for no one.

No one ever asked for them, I think.

In fact, I think one aspect PvPers worried most about if Cryptic ever added PvP specific gear, because it would create an additional barrier to entry.

They could probably be replaced with [DMG] mods and still be more useful.

MMO devs are mighty afraid of PvP gear being used in PvE, even if there isn't a "raid progression" to protect from dirty nasty welfare PvP gear.

Personally, I like [CrtD]x2 [CrtH] since I believe it strikes a nice balance between an increase in the chance for a critical hit and the amount of critical damage done.

I am on the fence about [CrtD]x2 [Pen] because I do not know what the mathematical effect is for ignoring 10 points of armor from the [Pen] mod.

If I can craft a weapon with [CrtD]x3, then great, but I am not counting on it.

For cannons and turrets, what are people's opinion on [Rapid]? I assume if that proc is activated on any weapon, then all weapons will get rapid fire.

You want them to be in the general populace instead of quarantined in PvP zones?

Given the number of shots you can fire per second, even 20% crit chance (not hard to obtain) makes CrtD significantly better.

(If you want to know case by case, look at the crth/crtd ratio you currently have and the crth/crtd ratio of the source. If the fraction is higher currently (such as weapon's 1/10), go for crtd, if it's higher at the source (such as locater's 1/5), go for crth)

[Pen] doesn't function like the tooltip would indicate, and damage resistance is a funny thing in this game (much like damage calculations).

What [Pen] does is that it inflicts an 'injury' on the target of magnitude 10 that lasts for .5 seconds, and is applied each time that weapon with a [pen] mod hits that target. That means that your other weapons, and your allies, will benefit from this to an extent
    .
That only affects the primary target, so secondary targets via CSV or FAW are going to be unaffected.

That is an 'injury', not a normal debuff, meaning that it affects the target after the normal debuffs (APB, normal disruptors, sensor scan) and the base resistance are taken into affect. It's effectiveness is irrelevant of the base resistance of the target, and while it's effectiveness is mitigated to an extent by normal debuffs, the more base resistance the target has, the less it's effectiveness is mitigated by debuffs.

(For info on 'injuries' vs 'debuffs', you can read all about that here.)

And the TL;DR of CrtDx3 [Pen] vs CrtDx4 is that [Pen] favors single-target, high rate of fire builds, against targets with high resists, while [CrtD] favors AOE, slow rate of fire builds with very high crth:crtd ratios. FAW is an AOE, high rate of fire mechanism, and as such is pretty much even for both. CRF is very high rate of fire single target, and favors [Pen]. Surgical strikes, by means of it's rate of fire and massive CrtH buff, favors CrtD.
