What would you pick up?

Now that there's a ship sale, I might pick up something, even just for the free T5U token thing in the case I'm going to buy a T5 ship, or the console if it's a lower tier ship.

Since I can't decide myself, name a ship that you'd recommend (and possibly why) getting.

It should not be a KDF ship, Scimitar, Falchion, Tulwar, Vesta, Aventine, Rademaker, Excelsior, Defiant-R, Sovereign, Phantom, Command BC, Faeht, Avenger, T'Varo-R, Tempest, Odyssey, Prometheus, Pathfinder, NX, Flyer, ... I think I haven't missed anything from the C-Store.

I'm inclined on Cruiser Refit or Constellation for the consoles. One would be useful for tracking down cloaked ships that are eventually zapping around me, the other as escape mechanism to SS3 or to charge an attack.

    LOL...

I was giving advice to a relatively new player with a level 54 KDF science toon. I mentioned that the next time Cryptic does a ship sale I would consider getting the Ta'Sub Advanced Dyson Science Destroyer for my own KDF Science toon that is currently flying the T5u B'rel BoP Retrofit (which my KDF tac toon flies as well)... but I don't have the funds to make the purchase this weekend.

I hadn't noticed the free upgrade token as part of the offer... I was otherwise pondering a Federation Escort for my 'So called Main' (He's been played a lot less than my alts recently as they level), as I've grown... Irritable of his Breen Frigate...

    Much to think about...

Nothing. Despite the fact that 20% off should be the permanent price for all the ships in the c-store, the current slew of problems and the rampant disrespect the devs show the playerbase that keeps them in business makes it harder than ever for me to open the wallet for them.

Yeah, but I have to admit that the free (account bound) ship upgrade token really sweetens the deal...

You can all thank me. I finally gave in and made a ship purchase a few days ago.

To top it off T5s purchased during this are getting free upgrades. *looks wistfully at mothballed ships*

I'm considering the Andorian Escort bundle, since I like the 5 front / 2 aft layout on my KDF Mat'Ha.

Plus, it would give me an excuse to fly with phasers again, despite the 2.5% chance proc being almost useless.

Now that it'd be T5-U with the free *grumble grumble* upgrade it's a fun class of ships. Just be aware that the Kumari Escort (the tac one) is tac overkill on the seating. It was the ship I raced to 50 to be able to buy during a sale. Feels like the A-10 of space.

Thanks, it looks like the Charal gets +1 tactical console for T5-U so it's probably the best one to fly (2 tac boff, 2 eng, 1 universal). I'd need to decide if I wanted the other 2 for the consoles.

Unfortunately the Khyzon has only Lt. sci not Lt. Cdr, so it can't do grav well 1 :(

My personal advice is to not encourage Cryptic.

I would save the money, and just buy a ship upgrade directly IF you HAVE to get something.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

No worries on the $ component: I never spent a dime, believe me or not lol. The above list of ships (which is not even full) came through dilithium.

My idea would be the Harpia (Romulan Recon DSD), I know a trick to make it a perfect proton vaper, along with its console. For now though I'm oriented on the lower tier side.

Oh I believe you... But that zen has been payed for with real money, one way or another.

But if you HAVE to get a T6 ship, get a bundle, instead of just a single one.

The downside to bundles is when upgrade time rolls around. The upgrade only applies to one variant, not the whole class. T6 has probably got a while but buying T5 bundles, since I'd get around to having a captain for each, bit me hard when DR hit. So instead of needing upgrades or berths in the bone yard for one ship now it's three times as many.

The bundle rule is situational. The KDF ships do not interest me, my Romulan doesn't need a battlecruiser at all, my Fed tac could use a newer one. However, the Presidio was the jack of all trades to get: epic trait, heavy hitting, many possibilities to build my ideal battlecruiser for PvP. It balances my Avenger, which I still use when I want to go for stealth and powerful forward attacks.

Concorde is useless for me, and I mean useless. Geneva is a decent healer, but I already have a better ship for it.

Different story is, for example, the Scimitar bundle. Back then I bought first the Scimitar only, I regretted it a few months later and bought the Tulwar & Falchion for the set. Bought the Vesta bundle and never regretted it, capable of owning T6 no problem.

As far as it goes for T6, I still haven't felt the need of buying them en-mass.

Not buying any ships; I was completely happy with my Mirror ships. I would rather buy ship upgrade tokens for those; Cryptic, please make it so! Besides, it's going to be quite some time before I gain full mastery on the free T6 event ships...

Hmmm, I'm already set with my captains (everyone has his/her/it pair of ship-classes that they fly). Even got one set of ships that's waiting for a Bajoran captain that I haven't made yet (Constellation/Prometheus).

I could expand my KDF lineup though. Maybe get a dedicated K'Tinga captain. I'm already passing the B'Rel around as a backup on all my KDF toons, so no need to make a dedicated captain for one. But do I want to make another Klingon?
Member since November 2009... I think.
