Grenade System Revamp Proposal

Grenades. Gotta love em. Anyone can throw a rock, and that’s essentially what a grenade is, a rock that goes boom!

But not currently in STO. The most common grenades are only usable by tac, whom seem to have an unending supply of them, while those usable by non-tac are fancy, but so expensive (lobi store) that they are rarely used by anyone.

So I’d really like to see the system changed.

Specifically, I’d like to see all grenades changed to consumables—with the ‘normal’ grenades purchased through the ground consumables vendor and the lobi grenades unlocked at the dill store with the initial lobi purchase of each specific grenade type.

Along with this, we need to change grenadier tac kits and boff skills.

Currently you’ve got stun, photon, plas and smoke. (smoke grenades being only usable by commander rank boffs—what? This is the most basic of all the grenades, used to limit your opponent’s field of fire—it’s one of the first things a recruit learns how to use in basic training.)

The tactical kit/skills for grenadier instead should bolster the use of grenades—these guys are specialists, trained to use grenades more effectively in different ways.

in replace of the current kit/skills instead lets see

1) Grenade range
2) Grenade accuracy (sticky as per the tajan/kajak ability)
3) Grenade damage and
4) Grenade aoe.

(i.e. range replaces stun kit/skill, acc replaces photon, damage replaces plas, and aoe replaces smoke. if you want those specific grenades replaced, get them from the vendor.)

And as a final note, engineering captains with a significant skill in explosives should at the very least gain a damage boost vs constructs with the personal use of grenades.
