Is the Game Playable again?

maliusnightmaliusnight Member Posts: 30 Arc User
So quick survey, what do folks think following the events of the expansion is it worth logging in again?

I personally just found the complete lack of progress in terms of XP gain to be too frustrating. The numerous issues with queues, Which if the previous patch notes are accurate are apparently taken care of.

Thanks for your input!

You mean Argala Online? No, totally unplayable and it's about to kick the bucket.

Star Trek Online, however. It's not there yet, but getting a bit better.

Advanced STFs are only doable with an expert group. Pugging is generally an auto fail. The exception is Crystalline Entity advanced. Ground STFs have been made a bit harder, notably Bug Hunt. Again, pugging is a losing proposition.

If you don't have a big and active fleet during the hours that you play, you are probably out of luck.

And it's funny to see the same people that have been complaining about being forced to grind argala are now ignoring the buff we're getting and focusing on whining about the nerf to argala.

Well when I'll see 1/2 or even 1/3 of what Argala XP awards in IGA or KGA, then I'll take your word for things getting better , OK ? :)

So, in other words, not worth returning and logging in again yet? :(

Unfortunately that remains to be seen still. We are promised 300% more skill points from completing that contend.

Unfortunately this increase could only mean an overall outcome of ~5k skill points per run meaning you need to do 30 for 1 specialisation point to be obtained or 1350 for one primary and one secondary tree to be maxed out.

Compared to running Argala, which rewards are being reduced, this activity would take some twice as long or even more. (Highly circumstantial estimate considering both a queue and Argala would take you the same time to complete).

So, in other words, not worth returning and logging in again yet? :(

That depends on what you want to do, queues do get a boost. Since I only run them anyway I take it and hope more peeps jump on the train.

On my 8 toons I directed my SP needs to 90% onto the doff system which works out extremely well and is as ungrindy as it can be.

The nerf is a problem because it removes a player choice in favor of how Cryptic wants us to play! They should be removing restrictions and bringing players back, not driving more out. Now onto the topic at hand I have found the Delta stuff to be more enjoyable 2 nd time through, I mainly skip the patrol nonsense and focus on the mission themselves which are fun then doff and do other stuff to make up the difference. To be fair I see what they were going for to give us something to do and achieve but it falls short with just the sheer amount of XP needed to get anywhere and the awful patrols with the far outmatched Vaadwaur. If there had been fewer patrols and more story content I think DR would've been beetr received as well as an XP reward which kept your Level progression in line with story advancement! If you like the game it's worth a play through at least once.

Don't forget to mention the tray and UI lag.

Yep sorry there, same counts for mass disconnects, every second player complaining about lag as well as random crashes to desktop haunting me and quiet a few others I know since anniversary patch. :o

But aside from that, empty queue lists and removed contend for fast but monotonous SP progression the game is still as awesome as ever. :)

Is it a sin to say i like the game?
I hate the grind , sinks and cash shopism/item lotteries but frankly more episodes (even without listening to harry kim talk to himself) are all i want.

Which is really a logical continuation to an mmo: people like the game so you build on the existing content to attract people while maintaining your playerbase.

Short term thinking would be to milk them for every cent now but i'm not the guy in charge.

Chances are if you quit playing because something annoyed you in the game, it's still here. It hasn't changed much. DPS guys still chasing max DPS, arguing over weapon/ability/etc nerfs. Grinders still Grinding, arguing over XP/Dil/whatever nerfs. Social zones still get gold spammed and filled with politcal/religious arguments. Doom-sayers still trying to herald the end of all. We still have dinosaurs running around. Romulans are still granola munching tree hugging hippy space elves. A lot of people are mad about something to do with the Delta quadrant, I've never been there so don't know much about that.

All in all I'm still having fun though. Doffing is still the best part of the game for me. Just wish they would up the cap on the Doff roster, five hundred isn't enough.
