Whats the ship you fly the most? Your kirk/picards enterprise, the ship you just got to have, im flying the fleet excelsior T5U at the moment with phasers, its a beast lol
Hard to say. A lot of the ships from the shows/movies had an impact on me, so I ended up making a captain who flies that particular ship (or pairs of, since we got the ship swap system).

For a long time I flew my Assault Cruiser Refit. Maybe will go back to her after she gets a T5U upgrade. Currently flying a Guardian since she handles a lot like the ACR.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

Fleet Avenger, will be driving that puppy till the nacels fall off. Since just about all my time in game now is spent doff'ing, with the occasional visit to the "Normal" STFs, it's more than enough ship to get me around. After the Anniversary I will be dumping all my Omega upgrades into making pretty gold dangly bits though, kinda like having spinning rims.
I can't fly my "Enterprise" anymore. The obsolescence caused by the use of highly disparate tiers means I can't fly the ship I prefer.
Thus, I'm forced into the only ship I have that's more or less capable, the Pathfinder. A shame, I'd love it if they kept ALL the ships in the game useful at all levels.
Unless you are min-maxing to the extremes, I think you can fly relatively competitively in any t5u fleet shIp. It might not be as optimal as other ships, but if you're a smart player and you design things well, you can do just fine. The happiness gained from flying the ship you are truly most comfortable with is worth far more than the DPS bump you get from a newer ship. You might have to work harder, but when you love your ship, is rewarding work.
I guess my advice: fly the ship you love and make it work.
Unless you love the Connie, NX01, Miranda, T'liss, or Oberth... Then you're screwed.
My primary Fed toon's "Enterprise" was the free T5 Sovereign class heavy cruiser since it is the ship I have flown for the longest period of time. I switch to the Mirror Universe Heavy Cruiser Retrofit after about flying the Sovereign for 7 months. I then switched over to the Guardian Heavy Cruiser in the middle of January 2015.
I intend on loading up the free T5 Sovereign with Mk XIV gear by the end this year and switch back to flying it on a daily basis.
Tier 5-U acr for me in the Sovereign skin, that's my enterprise
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."

Why not save up and get the t5u upgrade? Nothing to lose, just a pure performance upgrade...
It annoys me at times when people pick a ship like scimitar and copy a build for pure dps, to me sto should be about picking a ship you like and making it your own, for me i always liked the excelsior so i got it and gone retro with phasers and may even add a photon torp, im running 7 beams and cutting beam at the moment, i respect peoples choice of ships but ive started to feel if your fed you need a fed ship lol not jem hadar or cardassian etc
I will wait and see if any tier 6 ships that come out are any good but to me unless its a t6 excelsior im not interested lol, i think the new ships lately arent very good, command ships look like the chimera u get for being a lifer and guardian cruier is a new galaxy skin with diff boff layout, my T5U excelsior at the moment destroys any t6 ship i have come across and im running mk12 weps and about 6 universal consoles

That means I need to purchase the Assault Cruiser Retrofit from the C-Store for 2,500 Zen and then use one of my remaining ship upgrade token from the DR Ops Pack to upgrade it to T5u.
Since the ship I have is the free one given at level 40, it is not possible to upgrade it to T5u. Besides, since I was able to play level 60 content with my MU Heavy Cruiser Retrofit with Mk XII gear, I am sure I will be able to handle level 60 content with the Sovereign cruiser that will hopefully have at least ultra rare Mk XIV gear. If not, then very rare Mk XIV gear will have to do.
My "Enterprise" is the USS Ackerman, a Pathfinder drain build in a Bellopheron skin. Dominion polaron, ES3, Tachyon Beam 3, aceton assimilators, and a buttload of flow caps.
Your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved 800 lives, including your mother's, and yours.
Mine is the USS Ranger, Armitage class. Fell in love with it as soon as I saw it in the ship selector. Ran it for almost a year till the upgrades came out and it just got better. Sunk a lot of resources in to my fleet to get the fleet version. Now I am flying a fleet t5u loaded with fleet, rep gear, and a couple crafted things. It will be a long time before I give her up.

it would have to be my "Fleet Long Range Science Vessel Retrofit [T5-U]" Bellerophon skin... i absolutely love that ship and it's the most fun for me... i'm a Science Officer in a Science Ship the way it's meant to be...
i haven't played with my T6 (Pathfinder) much yet, might get to it soon... maybe...
Connie Refit as I do little else but Doff these days. Fleet Excelsior T5-U when I actually play the game.
Klingon side, T5-U K'tinga.
This is one of those things that grinds my gears. I accept that the Klingons get shafted left, right, and center, but on the upside, they can fly their iconic ship at end-game and be extremely competitive.
---
My Enterprises are the TMP Refit and the D. TNG was my show in my formative years, though I grew up watching the TOS movies as well.
My Engineer flies my T5U Galaxy Retro - will be a Fleet T5U someday. Love that ship, and I'm determined to keep tweaking it.
My original Tac captain is flying my Cruiser Refit - still trying to make it in PvE, and not doing a bad job.
And, since I'm a glutton for pain, I have one toon living his virtual life captaining a TOS Connie. Mk XIV Blue Phasers and all. Can be seen blowing up in the Delta Quadrant routinely.
"After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true. Except for a T5 Connie. That would be f*%#ing awesome." - Mr. Spock

That is a bright part of the game. The wife and I both have the K'tinga T5-U, and the pair do get comments when they appear in an STF together.
Yes there are better ships at the end game, but none of those make me as happy to fly as these ships from my era of the show.
My Enterprise is the 1701-E... I love those curves. I still have a pewter statue of the ship from back in my younger days.
My main TAC character flies a Fleet Defiant T5-U, and I will always love that ship... BUT... I've recently switched to my Bug, as I finally settled on a build for it, and IT IS AWESOME. Basically, the rule of thumb for my primary toon: if it's good enough for The Sisko, it's good enough for me.
None. I prefer to face an enemy face to face. But if you insist...I've taken a shine to the Sarr Theln. Not sure why, I think it's the most hideous ship in game, but w/e ya know?

My Enterprise, as in, the ship that I relate to most being a fan? NCC-1701 Refit.
The ship I fly the most, so I guess it's kind of like the Enterprise to me? Avenger Battle Cruiser.
