mine is around 10k of zen for all needed expansions (doffs slots, inventory/bank expansion) and around 50m of ec for buing BLUE doffs (purpels will be a lot of more expansive especialy these with 4m+ per one purple).

My 5th and final character was a Talaxian late last year when they became available. Why? I dunno. For fun I guess.

The only upgrades I buy are to get doffs to 150. That's it.

Then some active duty doffs for maybe 5 million EC. I use rep and fleet gear as well as crafted - so the cost is just to grind the materials as well as dilithium. Each character must earn their own way in dilithium.

I treat all my characters as real characters. They take too much time as it is to ever make another. The Talaxian will take some time to catch up to the other 4. She has pilot finished and is now slowly beginning intel. The others are 20 'levels' ahead.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."

"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."

Honestly, I gave up on it. After LoR, I stuck w/a Rommy.

My main is the only one I focus on now. The rest are just alts that Doff/Farm in order to keep him afloat, so I have no clue how much is invested in him.

I will not make a new character, the cost and time is just to high.
All the veterans in our fleet have decided not to make new toons also due to costs.

Frankly the glory days of buying a new lock box ship and making a new character for it now is well over.

Depends how far I want the toon to go. I can handle mission and end game content on mission rewards and drops so I guess only time.

Doffs I get from Ferra for free. If I need a third DCE, my Replicator is my friend. Expansion for bank and inventory for every char are unnecessary.

For new farmchars (Contraband and reps), I assume less than 1mil EC, 0 Zen, Dil only what the char itself farms.

For a new combat char I presume 27k(/54k if fed) dil on ground (KHG-Set), less than 400k space (2pc assimiliated, 2pc omega weapon set, fleet warpcore, fleet shield, spire consoles). However, the amount of dilithium is easily farmable by doing reps (5x32k+1x8k+what you get from queues for doing them), so I wouldnt say its actually costing it. Even if you were to use those amounts from other chars, you will be back with it in 2months max. If I had to buy weapons, I would use CrtDx2 from any weapontype, most likely tetryon or polaron, since they are dirty cheap while the dps-"loss" compared to AP is laughable in the regions my combatchars (the rom tak of course aside) come, from 20-50k the weapontype doesnt play a role. The only thing which would cost great amounts of EC would be plasmonic leech, but if I would open new chars, I would do it as KDF, and here I get plasmonic for free (one-time cost 1k zen, around 170k dil, around a month dil-farming with one-char).

So yeah, if you know what you do, your doffs are for free, your weapons are cheap (if worse came to worse buy blue ones with crtdx2, even cheaper) and the dilithium is -in the worse case- a credit/loan.

100 DOff slots. That's it. I don't do advanced STF's (Well, I might on my 'main' one day), I don't PvP. That's all my alts need.

That said, I do intend to pick up a few T6 ships next time they're on sale. I've got over 1.5million refined dil saved up, along with nearly 8,000 Zen (2000 only bought, the rest traded for or 'earned' by watching adverts and completing questionnaires).

probably 200k dil (includes key upgrades) and 10 mil or so EC, tops. That assumes I use a ship I already own. If not, 3k zen ship.

I could do it for far, far less if I used a ship I owned and my acct bound upgraded weapons, consoles, etc. I would just need a few things, fleet consoles, couple of rep consoles, undine deflector, fleet shield, fleet warp core, not much else. I could even use the obelisk set and skip the core. With all that its prob just 100k dil or so.

I created my 8th an final toon because I had a free slot that has been available for about 4 months. Of my 8 toons only the first three I created are primary toons which I play pretty often, the rest I play when I have time for them. I try to play my secondary toons (4th - 6th) at least once per week if I have time. The 7th & 8th toon are tertiary toons that I do not play very often. However, I do tend to load up my 4th - 8th toon just to start some Doff missions. I rotate my primary & secondary toons from time to time.

The 8th toon was created simply to get the free Kobali Cruiser. So far I have not spent much on that toon. I crafted some space gear spent some dilithium (10k - 11k) and some EC (less than 1 million EC) to buy a few superior tech upgrades I did not have to level up the gear.

That 8th toon currently has 99 Doffs that primarily came from my 3 other Fed / Fed-Aligned Rom toons doing the various Doff recruiting toons that resulted in green or better quality Doffs. I will likely upgrade to a total of 300 Doff slots since all my toons have 300 Doff slots, but it will be a slow process since I will only be converting dilithium earned by that specific toon.

Cheapest way to build up a new toon is the R&D system craft mk ii's and upgrade these as your toon progresses. Until you reach Captain rank 1 Superior experimental for each item being upgraded is all that is required.

Only starts to get expensive from Captain onwards as more techs/dil are required per item,

Only time you should need to buy zen for an alt is if you don't have a certain ship you want unlocked. Or you need lots of dil quick for upgrades so Zen to Dil conversion.
100 doffs is more than enough, you can only use up to 12 at a time split between space and ground roosters. leaving 88 to fill up doff projects.

True, but I like to increase my chances of Doff mission critical success as much as possible. Therefore, 300 Doff allows me to gather a menagerie of purple and blue Doffs to do so.

Actually my primary Fed Doff has close to 400 blue and purple Doffs and that toon can do one thing that my other Fed toons with only 300 Doffs cannot do. That toon can consistently get at least 5 contraband per day on average to turn in for dilithium. Of course that does not compare to what a KDF toon can do with only 100 blue and purple Doffs since contraband on the KDF side of the equation almost falls like rain.

Cost of creating a new character, I have 14 right now. I play them until level 11, then level them through Doffing, primarily mauradering. 5 Feds, 9 KDF.

I've played the Fed, KDF, and Rom story through once each.

I actively play 4 characters who are level 60+ spec points.

4 of my characters are level 57-59 just from doffing, 1 is an infrequently used alt.

    The last 4 are level 55, 54, 49, 30.

I spend maybe 90 minutes doffing going through them all if you include include time spent at the exchange and academy for recruitment, buying prisoners when I run low, ect...

5 toons have completed all reps, 2 haved made progress and have some quality gear.

Having that all set up and on a good day being ablke to max out my dilithium on 14 toons, gernerating enough contrabands for each of my 5 feds to turn in 20 contrabands and 5 colonists a day, plus kdf dilithium from all the maruadering and prisoner related missions, plus colonists, ect...

Cost, well if I max out my dilithium generation that is 116500 dilithium refined per day, (never bother with the extra 500 on my feds who normally sit at ESD).

At the current exchange rate that is almost 700 zen generated a day in 90 minutes to 2 hrs while watching Netflix or Crunchy Roll, then actually getting in real play later.

Lets call it 700 zen on a good day, so that is a T6 ship worth of Zen in 5 days.

So they pay for themselves, just need a lvl 11 KDF and 10 mil EC for ther right Doffs to set them up for Muraudering effectively.

To me this is the only reason to have multiple characters post Delta rising, because you're not going to be able to work on building more than very few of them, the remainder will be relegated to playing Farmville in space.

Edit: If I had it to do over, I would have stopped at 12 characters, that was much more manageable.
