I was just wondering if anyone who has used one of these BOFFs could give me some tips, and save me spending a few hours switching chars to find settings.
I always thought that transporter colour was just linked to a particular BOFF, but this one has confused me. I've been running a very Borg orientated crew KDF side for a while - and on it I was using a Romulan Borg Boff - this one fit seamlessly into the KDF side - functioned just like a stock KDF boff with the red transporter.
I managed to pick up a well priced Romulan Borg on the exchange, and decided to use it on my new Fed toon. Now I can deal with the limited Uniform options, but for some reason this one has a green Romulan transporter instead of the Fed blue.
Can anyone tell me exactly what the cause is, and if it is fixable?
My KDF is using the voth armor - could it be the clothing that sets the transporter colour?
Could I have bought the Lock Box off a Romulan player (is the colour affected by who gets it off the lobi store?)
Is it just a bug that KDF gets red and Fed gets green?
I know this is a really minor issue for a lot of people, but I have pretty heavy OCD tendencies, and mismatched transporters don't work for me! So before I relegate this Boff to bridge only duty - I was hoping some more experienced people might shed a little light on the matter.
You're talking about the one that comes from the Lobi store I think.... look closely, it's not necessarily a republic Boff AFAIK. AFAIK any faction can buy them from the Lobi store, and if you bought it off the exchange it's likely you got an allied faction one instead of a Republic one.
But yeah, transporter colors are a function of faction, not clothing.

It is the Lobi boff I am talking about. I'm not playing as a Romulan with an allied faction, this is what confused me - I know that when playing the republic, if you use a starfleet boff - you get the blue transporter.
I'm playing starfleet and getting a green transporter with a boff that is listed as Starfleet, I know that happens with the diplomacy boffs.
What is confusing me is how the very same Boff kdf side gets a correct red transporter, but fed side gets an incorrect green transporter - that seems to suggest it's not the faction alone.
I would be interested in hearing if anyone else has unlocked one Fed side - and if they have the correct transporter.
Hmm I was a bit too vague I suppose. I shouldn't have said faction really. It's tied to faction, but it really seems to be set individually. For example: the Kobali boff from Dust to Dust uses a KDF transporter effect no matter what race of player gets the Boff.

It must just be a difference between the settings on the KDF Borg and the Fed Borg then - the klinks get the right effect - the feds bizarrely get the Romulan effect.
I wish they would just link the effect to the faction - it is very jarring having all those unique effects on one crew - I hadn't actually noticed the Kobali one, as I mainly have her KDF side - but I just ran her on my Ferengi, and it was red.
Surely it could be done? - the right colour happens every time with the warp trail regardless of the ship you buy.
It's not big or game-changing - but it is really frustrating, especially when you take the time to make your crew look a certain way.

If you can call it the right color...I'm pretty sure the warp trail color should logically depend on the ship's engine, not the captain's political affiliation.
Just like the transporter effect should depend on the ship's transporter, not the captain.
Actually, no, ships don't always have the "right" color of warp trail. My KDF guy has a Qib that does green trails. also... it came with the RRW prefix. :P
Transporter effects seem to be little more than an emote that your character can't use voluntarily. which gets complicated sometimes, since Romulans will sometimes do the wrist tap when beaming up, sometimes combadge tap, and sometimes neither.

Yeah, looking back on that, I incorrectly used "right"
My main KDF is very Borg orientated, and flies a chel gret with all the borg sets on it - basically it's grey and green, but gets a red warp trail - that doesn't sit well with the obsessiveness either.
The transporter is the one that really grates me though. I never use the diplomacy boff for that very reason.
