Reputation Marks into EC? Possibility Cryptic????

stuart1965stuart1965 Member Posts: 691 Arc User
I have had a big build up of all rep marks and i know that they can be converted into dilithium.
Have got loads of dilithium so don't need to convert any more rep marks as yet.
As for dilithium, its turned into an ore mountain, because of this ridiculous strict limit of 8000 a day per toon for refining.
It got me thinking, How about allowing us to convert rep marks into EC?
Surely thats a possibility is'nt it cryptic?
It would help increase fun too, and motivation to earn more rep marks of all types.

They'd just say turn the marks to dill, dill to zen, buy keys and sell them for EC.

Thats the hard way yes. I am talking of convertion directly.
Its 8000 refining a day on dilithium. surely not on EC as well.

How about Omega and Delta marks into BNPs and APCs respectively?

If you can unlock something without Advanced or Elite you should be able to purchase it without Advanced or Elite (or waiting out the heat death of the universe for RNG to deliver the currencies).
This is my Risian Corvette. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

    Don't count on it.
It's tied to dill usage and they won't want to lose on this valve they have on the dill market.
I'd support some form of getting better EC in game though.

How about adding some new items, maybe a 6th tier....
EC is easy to get. I'd rather see a use for the marks etc.
You could slot hourly projects and sell the stuff in the box for EC. Some of that is worth more than you would get if you had a direct EC conversion, but its luck of the draw.

Geko commented about EC back when the R&D system first launched, and upgrade kits were so expensive...

It sounded like the devs view EC as a secondary currency, and one that they do not want to invest in (probably because they can't control it, and EC's value is mainly determined by the playerbase).

I personally think they should change all of the various marks into one generic Reputation Mark. I have almost 1000 Nukara marks on my primary character, just collecting dust. I'm not desperate for dilithium, so I haven't converted it... but one Reputation Mark would clean up the UI bloat in the 'Assets' tab, but would still allow for players to play for the higher-end rep currencies (BNPs, APCs, VNPs, etc.).

That's an interesting idea. I like it.

The Marks can be converted to Dil, real money. But if it's converted to EC, "fake money", it doesn't have any impact in relation to real currency. If anything, it might boost the value of Dil since people will be splitting G their Marks between Dil and EC.

Considering there are no significant EC-sinks in the game, allowing players to generate it faster would just lead to rampant inflation. And with such a low EC cap and exchange price cap, inflation is something this game is just not built to handle.

The highest end of items (doff-pack promo ships) already go off the exchange regularly when their market value exceeds the price cap. Further inflation could render EC completely worthless as a currency because it wouldn't even be possible to hold enough EC to buy expensive items, forcing everyone to barter with keys and lockbox ships instead.

I'd rather they add larger mark->dil conversion projects (1,000 marks at a time) so converting them wouldn't be a full-time job.

This won't happen, but I support it anyway.

I don't think it would lead to inflation because most people love the pink rock and say "I have tons and tons of EC! Sooo easy to get billions."

Since almost day 1 I've been dilithium rich and EC poor. I would convert some but the conversion rate is abysmal, especially with keys having lost 40% of their value. For example it is 1,680,000 for 100 keys = 200,000,000 EC So that's about $100 for 200,000,000 EC That seems like a bad joke to me.

So bring it on. 100,000EC for 100 marks. I'd run 1 of each rep type a day for that. This would bring us back to what we could earn in vendor trash each day before the big trash nerf of 2014.
