Some troll in IGN locking the entire team out, multiple times

risian4risian4 Member Posts: 3,711 Arc User
In the past few days, I've played Infected manus normal three times. On all three occasions, this player thought it would be funny to lock the entire team out by entering the room with Ogen and stay there cloaked. One time he just kept using disco balls, another time he kept spamming me with friend requests. Every time he waits for the entire team to leave, and then, when there's just the two of us remaining, he defeats the enemies in Ogen's room.

While I'm writing this, our entire team is standing outside waiting for him to do something. I tried talking to him, explaining that he's just wasting his own time as well but I didn't get through it seems. He just literally told me to.. well I won't repeat what he said but it's not nice ;)

This person doesn't seem to play to enjoy the game, but just to troll other people which he has been doing on every occasion I've met him. I've sent reports twice, the first one a few days ago, Support doesn't seem to do anything since he's still walking around trolling entire teams.

And that's the problem with trolls like this..... he IS enjoying his game. :/

(Probably having a blast that you've tried it three times, instead of just immediately bailing upon seeing him in your group.)

Yes, he is playing a different game where the goal is to make you angry. Apparently he's winning.

I was considering leaving the team as soon as I saw him, but then he would win as well, so...

And I'm not angry, I tried solving things. I'm just amazed how someone can keep harrassing other players even when I've reported him twice now.

Giving his @handles is a violation of forum rules so you must not do that but I’m somewhat curious who he is and why he is trolling on the lowest difficulty setting in game. Even trolls should have some troll honour or something. Think Delta Rising hit all of us.

    LOL

PS: Don’t get angry about him OP cuz he is not worth it. If he plays normal to go after the weakest victims he is not even a troll, he is a clown, and even a bad one at that pulling jokes that are three years old. :)

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why you don't pug, but form a team from your fleet, and possibly some of the public channels. If somebody starts trolling there, they can easily be kicked out of said fleet or muted in said channel. Problem solved, onto the next match without any chance of mr. Troll showing up.

Just place him on ignore, and if he ever turns up in a team, just explain the others about him a suggest that you all just bite the bullet and leave the **** there.

Seriously, Mod's do nothing about trolls like this. And I've seen some right scum bags that just skip over them.

I've alrady placed him on ignore, but I undid that action since I wanted to figure out why he was doing these things. Besides, if I place him on ignore I won't see it if he's trying to ridicule me in front of the other team mates as he has done a few times already.

Also, it would be nice if it were possible to block invites to a private challenge from specific persons. That's feature that's much needed atm, unfortunately.

They want to have fun at the expense of others, there's nothing else to figure out. This is how they are, and nothing you do will stop them. To make things worse, STO is troll-friendly, so this is a fight you can't win at the moment.

At the expense of other people, which like technically correct is the best kind of correct, is the "best" sort of fun.

Yeah puging certain missions is a generally bad idea.

But yeah, you should use the report to GM function any time you see behavior like this.

Whether it falls on deaf ears or not, at least there's a chance that something will be done.

If you don't report him then you know nothing will be done.

I feel for you there. Anyone like this and any AFK'ers I report as soon as I get a quick break in the action. If Cryptic gets enough reports they will do something......hopefully.

For someone to do something there had to be some kind of authority in the game to begin with :D

STO does not employ gamemasters. Literally. There is nobody tasked with this. And if there are they better not state that since it would say more about their effectiveness than anything else.

This reminds me of an incident I had back in September or October last year. I was playing Undine Assault Elite and a player with the name "JoeCool... something" (not to completely name & shame) blocked the entrance to the final boss battle with cover shield.

The idiot was saying how everyone sucked and he could do the end battle all by himself because he was so awesome. No matter what other players said all he did was laugh. I remained silent. Anywaste, I forgot the exact sequence of events now, but after around 15 - 20 minutes of his trolling, "JoeCool... something" tried to do the final battle and the stupid idiot got himself killed. Two players somehow got past the cover shield that was still up to fight the boss battle and they were killed as well.

When the cover shield dropped me and the other remaining player both jump down the portal to finish the mission. The two of us killed off the remaining Undine soldiers and the Undine Boss.

Would be nice if developers actually took issues like this seriously, but they won't unless it can be cited as a direct factor negatively impacting their metrics.

Well, he's playing how he wants.

Should be amusing to see how the white knights break on this issue; I expect at least one to live up to their espoused point of view and condone the troll's behavior, while the majority put their hypocrisy on full display.

Cryptic should just install disco floors (like from Hive Ground) in that room and they only activate when the force fields are up, and the borg haven't been aggro'd for 60 seconds.

Also, if you find yourself on a team with a member of these orally hygenic troll fleets, just make sure to keep an eye on them. If they break ahead of the team, follow them into the room and draw aggro so you both get killed and the rest of the team (hopefully) catches up.

Nothing more satisfying than spoiling those smiling toothy troll grins.

People like that don't deserve to live. They exist solely to torture others, and for some reason get a thrill out of it. He's just a coward. The kind of person who talks tough on the phone or over the internet but won't say or do **** when it comes down to it. In all honesty, if I ran a game company and got reports like this, I'd watch him closely to confirm, and then not only ban him but release his username and his real name to the public. Let everyone know who the coward is in real life. Other than that, wouldn't worry too much about it. Ignore him and switch instances often to avoid him. In the end, he'll still be that pathetic little mistake his mother and sperm donor made 12 years ago.

Report him ingame. I was surprised, but Cryptic does actually do something about it.

This kind of behaviour is not uncommon. But I was pleasantly surprised when one well-known individual was banned first for 24 hours, then again - he hasn't been seen since.

Cryptic should have the common sense not to design maps with bottlenecks that can be griefed.

Yep... I gotta say, though I do appreciate what Cryptic are trying to do to improve and streamline episodes, they really should be giving the same attention to many of the older STF's...

There's really no need for things like this, however, having said that, STO is not the only MMO guilty of this...

Many of WoW's instances have similar situations, where people can be locked out of an encounter, and I personally have seen people create situations very similar to the OP's, so this sort of behaviour is nothing limited to STO unfortunately...
The entitlement is strong in these forums...

Ok... I hate this kinda troll as much as the next guy, but this is going a bit overboard.

(If for no other reason then I'm fairly sure releasing peoples real names to the public in this way would be illegal.)

Yeah, no matter HOW bad the trolling is, doxing is 100 times worse, not to mention, as pointed out, illegal. Definitely NOT something I could condone, at all.
