SO here we are, 5 days after maintenance and the lag, numerous random dc's and insane rubber banding is back with a vengeance i really do think its time to hang my hat up and go play something else, ive been playing mmo's now since 2001 and i havent experienced this amount of disgruntled community members who have been plagued with the same issues month after month

    Sorry to say it but I can’t do much else but to confirm the OP’s experience. Same counts for the players in my friendliest I team up with or chat regularly.

    Most noteworthy mass disconnect was 3 days ago and kicked 23 peeps out of my friendliest simultaneously.

    --> DCs
    --> Lags, curiously most noteworthy in space pve maps
    --> Random game client crashes.

    Still here to stay.

    Aw, come on. Wait 6 days, that's when we go to invade Cryptic and toilet bowl Geko.

    We'll let you flush......:P

    Have pity on the man - his career in the games industry pretty much hangs on this game.

    The UI lag is still present for me and the last patch did nothing to fix it. It's hard to try and play any serious (teamed on more advanced difficulty levels) content when I don't know if my skills will go off, when will they go off and how many clicks will it take for them to go off.

    Seems to be the same amount of pissed off players as every previous STO ragefest. Only difference is that this time there's actually stuff that makes the raging justified.

    Add me to the list,,,,,,,

    ...and the drumbeat goes on... By failing to fix these issues, or even acknowledge that they are KNOWN issues, Cryptic looks the fool, either completely in denial, incompetent to fix their shoddy work, or completely apathetic about the (lack of) game mechanics quality (all of the above?). Way to go, Cryptic! :rolleyes:

    And yes, I am also experiencing BOff station clearing, random disconnects (followed by launcher error checks), power tray button lag, and UI lag throughout the game...

    I sympathize. Without taking away from your frustrations, the only real solution is to organize.

    I'm just sat with a WTF look on my face. Its really unbelievable that these issues haven't been addressed yet. The only hope is that the Omega mini game is the route cause of it all. And as such when it disappears shortly, all these issue go with it. But then again, when a certain alteration gets applied to Holodeck and I'm guessing it'll go live this Thursday any one with a nice large stock pile of pitch forks and torches will make a tidy profit.
    Oh, it's not broken? We can soon fix that!

    My friends list is getting smaller everyday, so many PR problems coming from Cryptic.
    They need to start making people happy instead of what they are thinking makes people happy.

    A few months ago someone at Cryptic stopped asking "what do players enjoy" and it shows.

    Are we sure this is Cryptic's problem, or a continuation of the Cogentco issue that has been plaguing many (but not all) of the community?

    For those who may not know what I am talking about, there is an area of service operated by the ISP known as cogent. If your tracepath for your connection to Cryptic's data center passes through this service area, it results in horrible connectivity issues... There is nothing CRYPTIC can do about this issue, which they are aware of.

    It does not matter how much of a monster of a PC you have. If your path to Cryptic's server goes through a problem area, you will be affected. There is more to connecting to STO than just your end and Cryptic's end. There's all the network connections in between, at any point along which issues may occur, making in neither your fault or Cryptic's fault.

    Not if the problem has nothing to do with cogent, then by all means, sharpen the pitchforks and light the torches.

    Have funds!
    while this may be the main reason on the DCs that occur , doesnt have anything to do with UI lag thats prominent since the implementation of the new ui icons and the boff loadouts system. which either could be the cause of the slow UI .

    I would go with it being the loadout system that is the problem. Unless the new icons require a lot more memory than the old ones did. If they are in the same format, the file size should be about the same. If not, and they are not compressed, then that could be a factor, but mainly if your computer's memory was nearly maxed out under the old icons.

    If the UI is tied to the loadout system, and that system is always running (it would pretty much have to be to make sure that anything put in the loadout interface updates what is in the icon tray, then it can probably be narrowed down to that.

    And the more separate UI elements that are tied to the loadout system, the more function calls to that system are made, processed and resolved. Add to that elements of the system that are synchronized with the server, and you add internet latency into the process.

    The more I think about it, the more my head wants to explode.

    But yeah... anything but internet latency involved with UI lag IS on cryptic's shoulders. Light those torches and sharpen those pitchforks.

    CHARGE!!!!

    Isn't this sad that players are the ones who are actually pointing out the cause? Are there any DEVs who can coherently respond as to what is an "intelligent" reason for the lag...other than IT's your ISP or on just in your head :mad:
