Fleet Marks & Leaving Fleet

nachtfangennachtfangen Member Posts: 0 Arc User
No matter how I worded the search, I found no answers -

What happens to my fleet marks and fleet credits if I quit a fleet?

The fleet I'm in now closed the fleet store to all but the highest ranks - yet expect people to still put into projects - filling all of the required items save dill and commodities (which I refuse to part with due to laughably low ROI on both).

So I'm seriously considering quitting this fleet entirely - but I need to know what becomes of my marks/credits if I do.

If they're lost, well, F*&! STO I'll just go to another game (not that I'm terribly active in STO as it is, coming back once every couple of months to see what's new - and the fleet store is still closed).

You keep them. They're not bound to a fleet, they are bound to the character that earned them.

Fleet credits and unspent fleet marks are yours. You keep them after you quit.

Anything you've already donated is gone for good.

I joined a fleet that was doing that ****. I always scan the rank settings when I join a fleet. If the store is only for the top ranks I just quit then and there. If its a majority of the ranks that can buy but not the first two ranks I try to find out how their promotion system works.

Did you try asking the fleet officers about this, and what the requirements are to get promoted to those ranks?

Some fleets have had problems with leeches and fleet bank looters, so it makes sense not to let someone join, grab and quit.

No, the store used to be accessible to the mid-ranks as well as the top ranks.
But apparently people were taking without contributing to the provision tasks so it got closed a while back - has not opened up since.

I already made my viewpoints quite clear - I would not (nor will I) donate Dil or EC based components - the ROI is simply not there for the effort. OFC, that means I can't contrib because everything else (other than white doffs - which I simply have no roster room for) is filled the moment the task opens.

Your fleet credits and fleet marks will remain in your asset, you dont lose them if you quit. Btw, did you try ask to some officers in your fleet about the permissions opening? Maybe they just have a "store-opening-on-request" policy for the lower ranks, like us or some fleets i know ;)

That sucks... Leave and find a fleet with reasonable contribution restrictions.
The fleet I'm with opens up store access at 50k in fleet donations, no questions asked.
And you keep all of your fleet credit if you ever leave. So no worries. Go find greener pastures elsewhere.

the fair thing to do would be, ask to join a fleet, get what you want/need from said fleet, but stay a while and contribute what you can before you leave. I did that last year looking to grab up an fleet Ambassador class. they weren't yet to tier5, but I gave what I could to help get the base there, and I'm still with this fleet. just wish it was Terran Empire oriented

Our fleet bank was looted more than once. Its sad but people are sometimes so FU in the head that they think its fun to do such things. :(

Good luck to the OP. Hope he finds a g ood fleet to join.
What happened to those unique forum ranks I paid for?

There is one caveat on fleet credits: A lot of fleets restrict new members from buying from the fleet stores. Some have a minimum donation level (easy to get if they run the fleet mark dump on the starbase special slot), others just have a time requirement, some have some kind of combination or sliding scale. You won't lose your credits, but you might not be able to spend them immediately.

Strictly speaking you can be restricted from donating to the fleet as well, but I've really never heard of a fleet that does that, whatever delay before you can spend is either meant for you to donate or at least left so you can save up.

Send me a mail @LordSCUM if you're looking for greener pastures.

We actually did the opposite, opened up the store access to more ranks because we are doing pretty well.

All we ask is to log in at least once every 6 months, and don't be abusive to others.

ive never really understood why so many fleets police the store and whatnot. every fleet i have ever had a toon in unlocked the provisions at X donations and that was that.

    "You keep what you kill."

Award yourself five Bonus Points if you get the reference.

OP, some people will always let a tiny bit of control go completely to their tiny bit of brain. Leave the losers and find yourself another Fleet. Don't look back. You didn't leave anything behind. Don't be angry. They're not worth it. Don't get pulled into a drama filled scene. There are more important people to be upset about. Just go.

As to acquiring Fleet gear in the future, I suggest attempting to contact someone via the Nerds of Prey Public Service channel. At least until you decide to join another Fleet. I am not a member of Nerds of Prey but I can vouch for what they do in their Public Service channel. Hopefully one of them will wander by and set up some sort of contact method for you.

I would offer you an Invite to the Fleet I am in, but considering what caused you to post, you would probably pass. I wouldn't blame you one bit for doing so. Still, if you'd like to hang out with a bunch of highly anti social misfits who are nearly completely dysfunctional until after their sixth or seventh beer, drop me a PM here and I'll certainly be glad to sponsor you with our Fleet Leaders. Since I know what their favorite brand of alcohol is, I can definitely say you would be a shoo in for membership approval. :D

The problem with Nerds of Prey (coalition) is that when you go to one of their participating members - you're drawing from your fleet's existing requisition bank.

If your fleet has closed the store to your rank - even going to a NoP fleet starbase won't magically open the store (requisition bank) for you.

So, in the end, it looks like I'll hunt up another fleet. Just so long as they understand my Dil is mine, until Craptic gets a bit more wise to the ever changing market competition in MMOs (a la keeping players in their game and not going elsewhere) and makes putting dil into fleet projects a bit more... palatable.

Heck, only been with this Fleet a bit over two years now... Oh well.

I doubt they do. Unfortunately provision projects all cost dil. In order to be fair you should discuss your contribution attitude with your current fleetleaders as well as your new ones to reach some kind of solution. In some fleets it doesnt matter in others it may.

When a fleet closes its shops to the middle ranks there can be various reasons. One likely one could be that the situation is so desperate that even those few players who dedicate their dil and/or valuable/awkward stuff (so in other words everything else but fleet marks) to holding and provision projects were not able to get their stuff because some easy minded contributors use the 1:50 translation factor to grab the few provisions available rather quickly.

In one fleet I am the term “fleetmarktroll” has been introduced, and that for a reason. Your fleet marks credits may be valuable to you but its not to most fleets.

If you look for a new fleet I suggest you search for a small one. Fleet marks are usually worth more there cuz of lack of players and you can use external services to get access to holding of higher tier fleets.

Hey, nachfangen... consider joining The 1st Fleet... you can contact any of the officers for an invite...

I kinda like how we do it in The Wild Bunch. Stores are accessible for officers (ranks 3+), and every Monday for 24 hours, they are open for ranks 2 also. This lets them have a known time for access, and gives us a few days to replenish the provisioned items.

If you have been a member for two years, there is really no reason they didn't promote you into those higher ranks. Case in point, I myself am now THE Leader of the fleet I joined two years ago. I'm not saying you should be in the Leadership, but you still should have been in their highest ranks. If the Leaders STILL don't trust you after two years, you need to find a new home.
