Since the last patch i suffer from PC Shutdowns. After a while of smooth and problem free playing, suddenly my PC shuts down. As if someone would pull the plug.
I cheked all of my system's even cleaned the PC and freed him from all dust .
But still the game lets my PC crash. I had that never before, only since the last Thursday's patch.
Temperature shut downs are fairly common. My suggestion is Speedfan where among other things, you can preset your fans rate of cooling, over-riding the normal settings.
In my case, I preset it to 80% of capacity when I boot up STO, and raise it to 100% for the Delta Rising content (those backgrounds are processing pigs).
One other temporary solution is to drop the graphics from 'high' to 'low'. It also drop the temp.
The game also crashes to desktop at least 3 times per session, usually triggered in a target rich atmosphere. CAA, and even some basic STF's will trigger the shutdown. Cryptic isn't playing dumb about it, they are investigating. It seems to impact i7 processors with Windows 7. Very frustrating.
My game freezes at the loading screen. Will not go past it. I do not have to worry about the temp problem as I am playing on a liquid cooled high end Alienware. So what is going on?

Windows 8.1 I5 processor here. This crashing has been persistent since a week or 2 after the anniversary event. Haven't verified yet if the new patch solved my issue. I will report back here in a bit.
EDIT: Played 2 hours of nothing but space content with lots of activity (which is where all my crashes happened), no crashes so far.
