Someone challenged me earlier to do a truly cheap build that still could carry it's own weight in an ISA. Well folks, it doesn't get much cheaper than this: free ship (you can use any of the T5 free ships for this), loot drops/event and rep items for gear. Grand total of 143,000 dil and 290,000 EC in total cost for gear and weapons, plus whatever time you spend grinding out marks for your rep items and specialization tree. No doffs, only ship traits are from Pilot and Intel specializations.

To make it even funnier, we got disconnected mid game. Logged back in and still finished the queue...

Shout out to the other members of the team, everyone did their part and got the job done.

Title's a joke guys... smile and have some fun.

Here's the build: http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/?build=youcandoit2_7227

And here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMiiNpS7Fg4

DISCLAIMER: Enjoy the video, ***** about the lag, buffed NPC's etc, but do not turn this thread into a personal rant about how much you hate STO, DPS'rs, PUG's, and so on.

Dang, you bring a new meaning to the word squishy.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

It was a rough run, between the lag and the buffed Borg. Even with that, it was a fun challenge; since this run I have done a couple more with far better results.

143 dil is "cheap" nowadays ? Wow. That's about a third of a T6 zen ship, if you convert that in zen (~10$).
Pretty sure a new player is not going to have 143K dil for a while, at least 18days, grinding 8k dil/day.

You could have done that without spending that much :)

Anyway, yes, it's not really difficult to have 10k+dps with an average BFAW build. Bonus point for using a scimi. Double bonus for having a recluse in the team.

That's the base cost to craft the reputation items. I welcome anyone to go out and create similar builds and post their results here; brings a little more flavor to the game I think.

If you would have mounted DHCs you would have had less aggro, slightly less dps, but therefore faster killingtime.
As for the dilithium, the only things I see worthwhile for it are KCB+Assimmodule, shield can be brought from Fleetstore for much less dil (FC are a joke here) or you can use 3pc solonae-set or just a resilient shield array cap (x2) pla, which is usually dirty cheap in the exchange.
    the dysonconsole is unnecessary.

And as it stands your less than 300k EC are also kind of a fluke: Biotech patch isnt that cheap ;)

Considering you even used a lv15 R&D-Trait, you could have also used EPtW+EPtS with 3DCE, as you can max. engineering doffing quite fast and get a blue and a purple Doff for free from Ferra with lv3+4. Replicate the last one for 100k and you are good to go, getting more robust.

It is a nice try, but considering price and performance, you stopped halfway.

I doubt that's viable for Advanced queues. Normal on the other hand...

Ok now try that again OP with nothing but mission rewards...

    Free Gear!

Mirror patrol escort with plasma disruptors.

Everything else scrounged together from here. Only thing you'll need is a couple of blue disruptor consoles and you're set to go.

Should be a level 50 starters set for under 1 Million.

Awesome! Now build it, and show the rest of us that anyone can do it!

Can't make vids (insufficient time and low end pc for rendering), but prior to DR i used the plasma disruptor setup on a T3 Heavy Escort with good results.

No reason why it should not work after DR on a T5 mirror patrol escort.

It should, that's the whole point of this challenge and video. You don't need all the top stuff to hold your own in advanced queues; you just need to know how to pilot your ships and the very basics of shipbuilding.
