Since the diplobuff from the opposing faction is not gunna work anymore as before with trading, how about getting a single ship from the opposing faction instead which is bound to character after choice? That would be sweet.

The diplo boff was intended as a reward to you for your own crew, not as something to sell. So I doubr Cryptic feels the need to do anything to change it.

This pretty much... The inability to trade Boffs has not 'broken' the Diplo 4 reward, it just means you can no longer get a full Orion or Nausicaan crew as Fed...
You can already get the faction starship of your choice via a lockbox, Lobi store, the exchange, or the occasional seasonal event. You have Dominion, Ferengi, Romulan RSE, Cardassian, Elachi, Voth, Undine, Benthan, Vaadwuar, Kobali, NPC factions to choose from.
Oh you meant KDF? Even the players on that faction get no love. Why would you expect to? They aren't just give away ships to you when they can monetize them.
It's not like there is a dearth of ships for Federation players to choose from.
Diplomacy will work like all the other tracks in the doff system and will just be a way to get more fleet marks via starbase doff missions. You will still be able to get your free bridge officer.

can i attack esd in response? feddies already pillaged everything worth having. you have all the worthwhile kdf consoles already, and now you have a better BoP.
i suppose what feddies are really looking for now is a free t5 diplomacy plasmonic leech console. right?
i vote 'no', but its pretty evident you will all get what you want anyway.

I don't think it was meant to be. The BOFF reward is a way to say you're so diplomatic, an "enemy" decided to join you and fight on your side. Your sheer charisma persuaded someone to betray his/her faction and join your side.
However you are only a mere mortal, and converting entire crew by your smile alone is a tad more difficult.
Like Odo during the Dominion war. But Odo was alone, you didn't have entire SF ship crewed by Jem'hadar/Vortas/changeling.
If you want a crew of Orions or Nausicaan, play KDF, or even (as stupid as it is) KDF Rom (well, you'll have Tovan to).
Marauding doesn't have a unique costume as a reward, and diplomacy should have something else ?
Sadly, it could happen.

You misunderstand me... I was merely pointing out that the notion of the Diplo4 reward being some how broken or insufficient, given we can no longer trade these Boffs, was an incorrect inference, and that it only meant that full Orion or Nausicaan crews, which were possible as Fed thanks to trading commissioned Boffs, are no longer possible...
It was pretty clear such crews were never intended to be possible for Fed as it was...
I did not stipulate one way or another if I thought it was appropriate or not to do so, just that it was no longer possible...
If it was, we'd be able to claim an endless number of opposing faction Boffs once hitting Diplomacy/Marauding 4... As far as I know we cannot even reclaim them, should we happen to dismiss them for what ever reason...
Since it was not possible at launch to trade Commisioned Boffs (at least as far as I've been lead to believe), and the only reason Commissioned boffs were made tradeable was to allow training (after players requested a means to train them), it makes pretty clear that Cryptic never intended Feds to have an all Orion, or Nausicaan, crew...
The idea of a cross-faction ship token does sound appealing though. Obviously, it should be for all factions. Feds can get their Bounty. Romulans can finally get the Prometheuslegitimately. Klingons can get...whatever, you get the idea. One ship from another faction.
Maybe if not for starships, then for small craft since the selection for those is so small for each faction anyway.

Keep the ships right where they belong in their factions. If you want to play with Starfleet ships, you roll Fed. If you want Warbirds, roll Romulan Republic. If you want KDF ships, then roll KDF.

I suppose the same could have been said of the Diplomacy/Marauding Boffs. "If you want a real Orion slave girl, play KDF. If you want an Andorian or a Human boff, play Fed..." But the game was willing to allow you access to something for another faction, if only in a limited manner. Why shouldn't that same principle be applied to a ship if it's properly limited.
...especially, if it were limited to something like small craft. I'm legitimately curious: Are KDF players happy with their selection of small craft? I've always skipped missions requiring them when I played KDF because the selection is so unappealing (Zen and Lobi shuttles included).

There's a big difference between having an "Exchange Officer" of sorts, compared to flying ships from a different faction. A KDF Captain in charge of a Sovereign-class. A Starfleet Captain in charge of a B'Rel. A TRIBBLE Romulan Captain not captaining an overpowered Warbird.
A ship is a whole other, higher level of magnitude than having a BOFF from a different faction.
Faction identities have been getting blurry over the years, and flying Fed/KDF/Rom faction ships outside yours would be another huge misstep.

No. I would not want a Fed ship contaminating my ship roster nor small craft polluting my hangar.
If for some reason I want a Fed ship, I know where to catch them. I do not keep them though.
The only issue I have is that the KDF could use a few more Klingon, Ferasan, Orion, Nausicaan, or Gorn ships, especially of the science variety. In no way does that mean I want a Federation ship.

Also, while it's an idea that I am sure makes perfect sense to you, it does not make much sense to me.
Much more thematically appropriate, of course, would be actually getting to visit worlds in 'enemy' space, especially now that the war is over.
This. Both of them.
The second one makes even more sense, with the sector walls coming down soon.
