I noticed that myPlesh Brek Carrier pets are ignoring carrier commands, not attacking enemy ships or just fly around them and use nothing else but their Turret or not attacking at all and just fly around my Carrier.
And that they are very slow. Only half of normal (not full) impulse speed so if i attack enemy ships they stay way behind and most of the times the enemy is already ded until they are in weapons range. And if there still is a Target for them they are not really attacking it.
Pet AI in general is way too stupid. You need more commands, like "attack this target" and not "attack MY target" and things like "screen sweep" which will attack but stop everything to attack fighters or torps and then resume attack.
I want to assign them to go off and defend a friendly while I'm attacking something else. I don't want to have to constantly target their subject. Maybe "defend pinned target"?
Regardless, I have noticed a time or two that it seems no actual "mode" is selected for them. I hit the "attack" mode and it enables. I can't say for sure I've noticed what you describe, but I can say that at many times I've noticed they do attack normally. It isn't a full-time issue.
what is even "normal" impulse speed? They fly at about 15-20, at a guess, which is "normal" but many players for whatever reasons have much higher values.
My pets attack just fine, they even fly in front of me to engage my target when I am still out of range, and they cut loose with a lot of torps and cannon fire. But I have an intentionally low speed to exploit pedal to the metal (its a flawed game mechanic when a MKII item is your best choice but that is another discussion) so they can easily get to my targets.
Mine seem fine. In fact I'd say that they are a little too good, and could do with being pulled in a bit. Mind you, my only character using them is only level 58 right now, so when I hit the HP bump for 60, I may well change my mind.

Damn, looks like i got all the Academy dropouts and lazy Crewmen on my ships then.
I have seen them lag and disappear especially in the undine space zone. Not sure if they are truly not there despite the invisibility. Other pets do as well, though I would say the plesh more than usual.

The Elachi Frigates are even worse. They move far too slowly, turn too slowly, and can't keep up unlike other Frigate pets when Full Boosting. They don't even dock 90% of the time so you could lug them around.
