Is it just me, or does it really look as if the Command Cruisers have better selected hard points for beams and turrets?
It doesn't seem to be 100 % perfect, and it was more notable to me on the Fed Command Cruisers than the KDF, but it looked as if it no longer looked as the beam was coming from somewhere in the centre of the ship or flying from the aft through to the front. The Fed and KDF Command Cruisers seemed to have a hard point in the "saucer" area of the respective ships, and it looks much better than Omni- or Turret weapons usually look.

Well, while I haven't seen the hardpoints on the new cruisers (don't have one yet) I think they've improved the positioning of weapon hardpoints in general lately. The first time I noticed it was on the Tempest Class - that ship has phenomenal weapon hardpoint positioning, the dual beam banks look especially awesome and I've noticed great positioning on the Mat'Ha Raptor as well.
Yeah, all the new ships have weapon hardpoints visible on the model itself. The little purple dots on the Samsar are an example, as are the "lines" on the hull of the federation command cruisers. Those lines are phaser arrays, and are where beams fire from when in combat. It's a really nice touch, and I like it.
The first time I noticed it was also on the Samsar, b/c I also do not own and of the command ships. It's a great step in the right direction.
I doubt they'll go as far as to incorporate new hardpoints on the older models, but one can always hope. If not, it's not like it's a game-breaking feature. Just looks better.
The Eclipse and Guardian also have great Very Visable hardpoints.
Even bought a Apex recently and was surprised it has Distinct hardpoints as well.
Then, Got the Astika and it doesn't. Doesn't matter since I equiped the new Vaadwaur Beams that fire like cannons, Which is what they obviously planned since it looks perfect on that ship. But doesn't look good with beams. Also that front "Holed" out area looks like a perfect hanger bay, yet nope. lol
But, in general all the new ships except the Astika have impressed me with there Hardpoints lately.
I think the first ship that really stood out in that regard was the Ambassador, at least that's where I noticed the rear weapons actually firing from the saucer, exactly from where they are supposed to be firing (very visible proto-phaser-"strips").
Basically everything that came before either has some really weird random hardpoints or the hardpoints do not differ between weapon types. The Galaxy for example shoots torpedoes from the saucer and the D'Deridex has hardpoints all over the place as well. Worst of the bunch are probably those ships that shoot from their nacelles (fed and kdf alike), always seems like someone confused them with "wings" on a fighter plane.

"No. Men do not roar. Women roar. Then they hurl heavy objects... and claw at you." -Worf, son of Mogh
"A filthy, mangy beast, but in its bony breast beat the heart of a warrior" - "faithful" (...) "but ever-ready to follow the call of the wild." - Martok, about a Targ
"That pig smelled horrid. A sweet-sour, extremely pungent odor. I showered and showered, and it took me a week to get rid of it!" - Robert Justman, appreciating Emmy-Lou
Yeah they finally are at a point where the weapon hardpoint look logical and believable (for the most part) but I don't expect them to rework them on older ships though some ships really need some of their attention.

Though I love the ody design that always bugged me.
Like 3 of my 8 beams coming from the rear end of the nacelle while broadsiding.

Best hope for that - if they bring more ships to Tier 6, they may have to rework some of the models anyway to fit the new costume parts. Maybe that will also give them a chance to reposition some hard points?
Maybe I should have posted this in the Art thread, in the hopes of also reachnig the Cryptic artists?

I doubt this will happen. Voyager got the overhaul and later the T6 upgrade cause it was the "main charatcer" of DR. Unless the next few seasons and expansions focus on DS9 or TNG stories I don't see something like this happening again.

I don't know - the players argued very long and hard that they wanted all the canon ships ,and they wanted all the canon ships as end game ships. Just because the end game is no longer Tier 5 but Tier 6 doesn't change that desire - and Cryptic delivered it before, starting back in the days with the Intrepid, Galaxy and Defiant Retrofits and basically finishing the line-up last year with the Constellation/Stargazer Tier 5 Retrofit.

An then they started that whole 5U nonsene we have now. I really don't think they will pull another pathfinder any time soon.
Unless they're the kind of people who just want so see the world (forum) burn.:D
Can you imagine the ****storm if they started to push out T6 sovereigns, galaxys, defiants, etc. after they told us were not getting T6 upgrades for them?

Same here .
The Galaxy for example shoots torpedoes from the saucer and the D'Deridex has hardpoints all over the place as well.
The D'D is especially painful as they created and implemented the DBB as Single beam tech on the Galor, but not the D'D .
and they shafted the Galor by giving it the tech but not creating DBB SpiralWave's for her ... . go figure)
As for the Gal & Nebula, it'd be nice if DBB would fire from the phaser strips instead of from the two sides of the saucer .
the first time i noticed good hardpoints for weapons to me was on the avenger in my opinion and yeah the samsar and from what i seen the T6's are good to

It'd be "DR ist the best....." all over again.
