Once unlocked on a ship, does the Mastery still apply even if it isn't an active Starship Trait in the Captain's trait page?
For example -
I have 5 T6 ships I had mastered. On my Captain's trait page, I have 4 other Starship Traits active that is NOT Reciprocity. I fly a Phantom that has Reciprocity unlocked.
Do I get the 4 Activated Starship Traits + Reciprocity?
Or must I add Reciprocity as a Starship Trait to work and thus only the 4 activated ones are in use?

Don't know for definite, but I'd image the traits have to be active for them to work - so, no you don't get reciprocity (even on the Phantom) unless it's one of your four active traits

Only the 4 active slots are in use, the ship's M5 only unlocks the trait it does not give the effect by itself. If you want Reciprocity, you have to slot it regardless of what you're flying.
Oh okay, cool. So no real advantage to having a T6 vs T5U once you get the mastery unlocked. Also helpful in understanding that I'm not 'duplicating' a mastery trait by having it active and unlocked.

No real advantage yet; though once Fleet T6 comes out, the last major advantages of T5U are gone (specifically, T5FU, which still as an extra console slot (11 total) over most T6s (10)). Some T5FUs will still have better hulls, but the full amount of flexibility available to T6s would supersede them, if they haven't already (Phantoms, Faehts, and Eclipses getting some honorable mentions).
The trio of Command ships that just came out are at Fleet T6 level as well.
Ah yes, good point, looking forward to the Fleet ships. Most of my T6s have 11 slots anyway (Hazari, Sheshar). Also the Command/Intel slots too. Agree that T6 an T6F are the future of the game.
