Perhaps that's just me, but the nerf to the dil event have given me even less incentive to run queues.
Before DR, and when the dil event event was added to the game, I used to run the queues fairly often, usually to test a ship or a build, or both. Even queues awarding marks for rep I already have, like the infamous ISE. I saw an ISE call on PESTF, and thought "why not ?", or a call for some stf in fleet chat and thought "Okay !".
It was not a problem, I used to hoard the marks and the unique faction item (BNP and such), and "dump" them during the event.
I also did the marks event to hoard even more. Game balance it was fine IMO, because those are only a few time in the year, and there were some planning involved. And it pushed me to log in.
Since DR, the queues are dead. I don't like pugging (it's even worse now, with the optional being a mandatory thing). And I don't like making group on PESTF, I'm more a "joiner".
So obviously, it didn't help.
Then, the nerf of the dil event. And I'm thinking "why bother ?". What's the point in running those STF for rep I already completed and have no interest anymore ? Sure, I can still earn dil. But it's not enough for me to push through my natural laziness.
I'm not the kind of player who max his dil everyday. In fact, it's fairly rare when I reach the limit. Except for the CC event and such, I don't max it unless I hit the Voth BG for some reason (which is rare). I play for fun, not for dilithium.
The dil event was a good event, one I liked, because it was one of those few moment during the year were I was able to reach the dil cap for a few days on some characters. It was one of those moment in the year were my investment into the game was actually awarded.
Not anymore.
In conclusion : queues dead. STF channels very quiet. No incentive to run already completed faction queues.
I'm not going to run them anymore.
And since I'm not going to play much STF anymore, I don't see the point in logging in. And obviously, in buying anything.
I think it was worth sharing, because I suppose I'm not alone in this situation. And the queues being dead as it is, it would be better to find incentive to play them, instead of finding incentive to not play them.
If I find a mission fun, I play it. If I don't find a mission fun, I don't play it.
Play the game - don't play the rewards. You're only going to end up playing something you hate and then you blame the devs for your own issues.
I do play it for fun and, the rewards are my so called payout just for playing but, when they decide my time/value is needing decreased, it doesn't take away my fun but, sure does TRIBBLE one off when it comes to what they think of you being a valued customer!
It's like being slapped in the face, only those who pay them heaps of money, must enjoy being slapped in the face, because you are paying them to do it and, just when people have had enough, they act like they are sorry for doing it, just to reel you back to keep on taking more slaps in the face!
Well, if that's how I am valued, than it's on theirs and other's $, not mine!
I agree. I'm just going to go and play No Win Scenario.
Oh, wait, it's not there. Can I blame the devs for that?
If I ever get to the point where I equate a video game with mandatory slavery I hope my loved ones surprise me one day after work with an intervention, and get me the help I need.
If I ever get to the point where I equate a video game with mandatory slavery I hope my loved ones surprise me one day after work with an intervention, and get me the help I need.
Is that actually your answer?
p.s. Is there such a thing as non-mandatory slavery?
Now I'm not the kind of person who spends months and months doing dailies to save up marks, but every so often I'd run an STF when I didn't feel like missions or I was okay with running a few for a dil event. I also used them for ship-building.
But now? Well, give it two weeks or so after I finish my final toon's reputations to T5 and finish saving up for the cutting beam.... that'll be it. Zero reasons to do STFs except once in a blue moon when I want to test a new ship build.
If you can't think of a real answer, go for the Ad Hominem.
I know you're lashing out because you're scared. The world is a terrifying place when you've lived in a fictional video game world for so long. I'm not offended.
If you follow the link I gave above we can help pull you away from the "slavery" your mind is in. Luckily I saw your sig and recognized the warning signs of someone who can't separate a video game from reality. We'll get you through this
I'd love to play my favourite STF. I can't because it's been removed.
When it returns (IF) I expect it to give less marks as a reward than it did before. I expect it to have a MANDATORY timer. I also expect some aspects of it to have been buffed to silly proportions.
None of those changes will make me want to play it.
How do they expect new players to be able to complete it post-buff if they couldn't complete it before?
From bribing the GF to not have the Friday cleaning this Friday, to getting a six pack of XL -- I was ready to move sliders like no man has moved sliders before .
Needless to say that things worked out differently ... , with the GF first being pleased about my situation , but later on she tried to cheer me up with some yummy food .
The whole "mark horders" thing just passed me by as something unworthy to comment upon .
So did the Ask a Dev post from the Tribbles in Ecstasy podcast .
I didn't feel the need to hear WHY it was so hard to implement these award buffs they keep talking about, while nerfs seem to be a weekly event .
So in the end I did a couple of disappointing rounds in the Dino zone (big Dino's got killed way too quickly) and I turned in some contraband .
... and I did have a pretty good run of CGA in a queue surprisingly enough ...

Play the game - don't play the rewards. You're only going to end up playing something you hate and then you blame the devs for your own issues.
Missions (at least some of them), are still fun. But when you did them a hundred time, they are much less fun than they used to be. Still a bit fun, but not enough to play without reward.
The reward is part of the fun, because I'll unlock toys, and I'll have fun with them.
Simple MMO logic here.
The devs removed some of the fun I had with this event nerf, and even more since DR. I'm blaming them for making the game less fun.
And yes, I can always move out to another game, and trust me, I already do that. But that's not the point. The point is, by making the game less fun, people like myself will leave.
And I don't see the point in that. People in the forum are people who like the game. And are sad to see it becomes less fun.
Obviously, I'm only speaking for myself and a few others I know of. Some people actually love the changes I'm sure. Not sure if they are the majority.
I do believe imprisonment in the U.S.A. would qualify as such!
you would be wrong. Those people are in prison because of things they did that were abhorrent to society, ****, murder, drug dealing, etc.
Slaves, however, were typically just some joe someone else in a higher position of power thought should become slaves, with no real rime or reason other than "they are weaker than me."

JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse
Before DR was released I ran STFs multiple times on my toons...
Now I hardly play them. I may run STFs 4 or 5 times a week at most now. I have basically stuck with ISN and Storming the Spire Normal (StSN) for only two toons. StSN is mostly abandoned though as many times there is no one in that queue. I know the dil and mark payout sucks, but I enjoy that mission especially since I am currently doing it with a KDF science captain flying a BoP.
I may just have to suck it up and try Dyson Sphere Battle Zone instead.... I simply prefer space combat to ground combat...

^Just shut up, it is because of people like you that Cryptic keeps nerfing this game. The fact that you keep accepting this **** really pisses me off.
I only made 160,000 Dil today on 5 characters NOT grinding anything. man, we're really being gipped! (This is without any trips to the Dyson battlezone, Nukara, or cashing in any marks (beyond a couple of hourlies, and regular rep levelling).

And I'm happy you did. But I obviously don't play the same way, and mark hoarding was the way I played.
Cryptic is trying to tell us how to have fun. It doesn't bother you, because you are unaffected, or so it seems. But I am.
I never enjoyed being told the way to play, and that's exactly what Cryptic is doing since DR.
Xp leveling too fast for 1->50 ? Here, have some grind and level gap !
People grinding Tau Dewa to get around the stupid xp grind ? Nerf it ! And be quick about that, so make a hotfix !
People hoarding marks ? Nerf it !
People hoarding event and T5 rep completion dil ? Nerf that to !
The only good fun is a Cryptic approved fun. Everything else is clearly wrong and immoral.
The thing that bothers me is lack of skill xp rewarded for stfs. Obviously the dil nerfs suck as well , but I could see that coming for a long time.
One thing they could do to help the skill xp situation, is to bring back the old mirror hourly event.
I entirely agree. A patrol mission shouldn't award more xp than an elite STF. Period.
Also, having to do 2250 stf to complete a single primary spec tree is absurd.
I guess I would be more or less fine with the dil nerf, if the game was still the way it used to be. But currently, it's nerf after nerf, and grind after grind.
To me, it's really difficult to find anything fun in it.

Now that it's pointless to save them, I will just turn them in the instant they are received!
Why waste my time to save them right?
Why waste the extra time I used to, playing to get them, when now I can log off earlier right?
Seems a certain someone's metrics, didn't account for this kind of scenario!
