So the OP wasn't happy with the direction the original thread was going so decided to created another?
Looks like a fail unless constant pointless whining is the intent.
For me the problems resolved themselves by late this afternoon, anyone else?
Regardless it was a monstrous pain in the TRIBBLE, but if everything was being held up due to outgoing patches I suppose there isn't much that can be done.
I'd love to specifically know what "system" they were talking about though.
"Rise like Lions after slumber, In unvanquishable number, Shake your chains to earth like dew, Which in sleep had fallen on you-Ye are many they are few"
You see it will be repair after 2-3 days, because after those 2-3 days they will come back from weekend and will finally start doing something with it.
Or just don't put out gigs upon gigs of updates needed at a time that's going to break the whole point of doing it.
Ya, but it really wasn't the download that caused it. In LoR we had bigger updates, far far far more people playing and there wasn't awful lag.. sure the servers were crashing but the lag and rubber banding wasn't there.
This is almost 100% to blame on a bad implementation on the server side for the Boff change. People's accounts aren't changed over or preprocesssed in maintenance, F2P has far too many bogus and dead accounts to do that. So when people logged in, the servers went nutty trying to convert the Boffs to a new format, either there was no throttling enabled anywhere in the system (hard to believe on such an old game) or there was a serious bug in the process (not so hard to believe in STO) that chewed up server cycles.
EDIT: There is no point for another thread about a thread that's still there. /closed ~Askray
All the data is stored on their servers. So, this is a prime case for sending a batch job over all that data and convert it. Might have caused a longer downtime, but it would have resulted in no lag at all.

The game is free. Aside from still being playable.
