Platform room

chalpenchalpen Member Posts: 2,207 Arc User
Anyone have any suggestions on how to do the room that you have to shoot the things and get on the platform. Then the platforrm disapears. Been on it for a day. Not fun.
Should I start posting again after all this time?

Split beam rifles are your friend.. activate more than one platform at a time

2 things: pick a fast firing weapon and use shooter mode.

I was finding my rifle was slow, so I put on a vendor garbage phaser pistol I had on hand and found it more responsive.

Now, in shooter mode you have to shoot and move fast. I had some confusion with the grey sections of the walkway panels, and I thought they maybe were trigger plates that made the floor retract faster, so I avoided them. It made for a few tricky moment when I fell through.

You need to use shooter so you can aim where you want and not lose time auto targetting. Of course, I did this on hard, so I had the least amount of time. If you're having issues, take the easier option.

Don't trigger the walkway ahead of you until you're on the walkway next to it. If you trigger them too early they'll retract before you get across.

And, if you get halfway across a gap and fall, you may respawn on a catwalk above. Look down, shoot down, and drop down to continue.

    eyeroll......

first don't step on the electrified plates....

second weapon choice is important since some are more "laggy" than others and it can cost you a second or two. target shoot move target shoot move.

This. Then they wont retract. It is such a simple concept...

be aware of the electrified plates on some platforms...do not use shooter mode (but that is a general advice for STO anyway)
do it first on normal, then hard and maybe if you got used to it try very hard.
    Go pro or go home

rotate camera and tab target... dont need shooter mode.

split beam rifle is best for when you have 2 of those nodes lined up.

did it several times on different toons... 1 was able to finish without dying in under 2 mins on easy mode.

Use TAB to target instead of looking at the consoles and clicking then. You don't even have to look up.

They actually will. They have a timer. Depending on if you chose hard or easy, it will do so on its own very fast or much slower. When on hard you have to move fast.

I'll second the advice about do not use shooter mode. In normal you can jut turn about 15-degrees left or right, tab and you'll hit the "next" platform even though the target is totally out of sight.

Shooter mode, you have to pull 180-degree turns to directly face the target. Also in shooter mode it is possible to miss whereas normal has 100% accuracy.

Working against a timer is a simple concept too and easily doable, if you just take 2sec to think before taking action...

Yes, and I don't dispute that. I was simply offering a response to the post that said they WON'T retract if you don't step on the pressure plates.

I know I shouldn't, and I'm just too good for this world.
Anyway, if you stick to the right "wall", you can jump on the un-retractable part. So when you see you're doomed, jump on it, and you're safe. Then you just have to shoot the red stuff, jump back on the platform and advance.
You can do that over and over, it's especially helpful for the last part.

I tried the left wall, but you can't jump on it.

I can't guarantee it's true everywhere, since I need to use it only for the last part.

Now, do it fast. It will get nerfed soon.

P.S. I accept ships, EC, upgrades kit as reward.

HINT: During the maze portion of the mission, there will be a total of three stairs connecting each end of the Maze. When you reach the second set of stairs in the maze, go down the stairs and quickly hang a right, proceeding to the alcove farthest from the stairs, which is the 2nd alcove. In there you will spot a lone Kobali female NPC, talk to her to recruit her as one of your Bridge Officers. [ENJOY that Freebie of a hint]

Now regarding the platform portion of the mission - Shooter mode is your friend and so is the SPRINT key. Use a phaser pistol and not a Pulsewave, as Pulsewave has a slower rate of fire.

Hope that helps a bit with the platform part.

Except she is randomly set inside the maze.
You can see her on the map/minimap however. Helps a bit.

i use free look camera on right click, a dyson proton rifle and auto alt tabbing a target in the settings. amazing how easy it is to press 1 and have all the walkways deployed without an issue. on my mains, never had a problem with it even on very hard. however on another toon i had a few problems, mostly because the tetryon split beam i use doesnt work as effectively and ended up in the pit more than a few times.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

FYI there are a few accolades associated with this:

Complete ramp puzzle in under 2 minutes: recommended on Easy
Complete ramp puzzle without dying: recommended on Easy
Complete ramp puzzle without stepping on a trigger platform: recommended on (you guessed it,) Easy
Complete ramp puzzle on Hard: yeah, no getting around on Hard difficulty here. ;)

I want to thank some of you for your suggestions on this. I found myself not wanting to run the mission over and over again getting one accolade at a time.

    Maze
I studied a map and ran the maze using my mouse to help turn.

    Platform
I used shooter mode (b) with a split beam. I activated one platform and ran to the end of it. I then activated the next one and did the same all the way to the end. I was in advanced mode.

With this I was able to get all accolades on one toon with just one run. Thank you again for the help. :)

Why can't I just use my Zip Gun from the start of the mission?

    Major plot hole is major.
